I agree. Canadian prices are similar.
Most care home are operated "for profit" by large companies.
Nobody would want to be poor, (only on gov. pension), and needing to get their diapers changed by overworked care givers in an overcrowded facilities.
Depending on the facilities, they will take your gov. pension, (approx. $1,000), and leave you with an allowance of a few dollars.
