Karl, It's completely tangential to your post, but circumcision is completely unjustifiable. Its supposed medical benefits do not exist; it causes severe pain to newborns; it damages sexual function for life (some of which can be regained by "foreskin restoration"); and is emblematic of a society where the suffering of men is disregarded where similar abuses of women would lead to protests. I don't mean to derail this thread at all, but, as someone who is working through his own anger from his circumcision, it's hard to not say something when circumcision is treated as a normal part of birth.
