If you're presenting yourself as an hourly biller with an hourly rate and are instead presenting bills based on "attitude," there's a term for that -- fraud. It's no different than Citigroup certifying mortgages they know will default and that don't meet underwriting guidelines as "AAA+."

Utter bull****. Every client of mine gets a written estimate up front, before they agree to anything. If the charge will be more than they initially expect, they hear about it ahead of said agreement. If my client is an ******* to me, they get an added customer service surcharge (I think of it as an ******* Charge, which compensates me for having to deal with their ****) entirely at my discretion, or NONE of my advertised discounts. If they are REALLY a problem, I'll refund their money and tell them to GTFO. My hourly rate (when applicable) doesn't change, nor do the costs of the parts I may need to replace. *******s either pay up, or GTFO...I don't care which they choose, either.
