>And regarding mass, increasing food intake by a pound should result in weight gain of no more than a pound, This discounts the effects of the one pound of food on metabolic hormones, which will vary widely depending on the persons metabolism and what the one pound of food was comprised of. For me and my unfortunate body, eating starch (even fairly small amounts) jacks my insulin way up, which causes both water retention and most subsequent calories ingested to be stored as fat. So that one pound of food, if starch, will result in far more than one pound gained on the scale, for me. It kind of sucks. 2012-05-03 19:28:26
