The ability of a stranger finding "Mom" or "Dad" in his phone directory is a bit sketchy....those people might have been listed by their first names or "non-Mom" and "non-Dad" names. But I am right there with you as far as the nexus between "gated community" and "convenience store". Where I live, in CA, one is very, very rarely found near the other. By definition. But not 100% non-existent. I have seen gated communs kind of plopped into the middle of other stuff, in the manner of "pocket" development, and a lot of that type of thing went on in FL during the frenzy era. A gated commun in a RE frenzy is potentially worth substantially more money than a house plopped into the middle of a block. I'm sick of hearing about this stupid thing, I don't mind telling you.
