Xenakis considers Obama a GenX. He calls the boomers lazy and that they let the Xers run their games because it was making money. They were too stupid to figure out what the Xers were doing. |
William K. Black, University of MO at KC
Born September 6, 1951
This likely means the guys doing the looking 20 to 25 years later were born between 1970 and 1975.
I can tell you from the people I know there is a difference in attitude between those born before 1960 or so and those born afterwards. In almost every case, those born after want theirs and really don't give a **** if it is unethical or not. You didn't see any war protests out of the students in the 1990's or 2000's in relation to the 1960's. We were bombing Iraq all the way through the Clinton administration along with targets in Afghanistan. Zenakis goes through the entire gamut, claiming the boomers to be moralists, but not to smart and lazy. The crooks in the S&L's were generally born in the 1930's, though some were boomers. Not too many people under 40 had the connections to buy one of these institutions. Dixon had kids my age. Stanley Adams (I worked for Lamar in 1986 after Adams had helplessly disabled it) was in his 60's. In some ways, I don't know if these guys actually started crooking until they realized they had screwed up. There was a lot of talk about using other peoples money coming out of the inflationary 1970's, a time when leverage worked highly to the advantage of those employing it.
As time goes in, I give a lot of credence to generational dynamics. The young people want nothing to do with the current parties and make up a large part of Ron Pauls organization. This generation is the one that is going to have to clean up this mess. You might recall that all FDR did was paper over the depression then hide his papering over under World War II. FDR was out of the boomer generation of his time. You might look at who is raising hell about all of this mess, boomer bloggers like Karl, Mish and the UMKC crowd. The Xers in general believe the Obama hype. They will blow up the world before they throw in the towel.
