Quote:I believe it was before 1981 though. Johnson and Nixon set the stage for this, Mannfm. But Reagan pulled the trigger on extend and pretend via massive deficit spending. Had we faced reality in the 1980's, we would have an organic, functional economy for most of my life, rather than this monstrosity we have now. When I think about it, it really*****es me off that these ****heads distorted my life like this. Here's a prime example that came up in a discussion with my family: During my public school years, 1960-72, communities were able to fund public education themselves. There was no state and federal money pouring into it. Now, with deficit spending at the federal level that gets sent to the states, the whole thing is a bloated mess. Nixon created 'revenue sharing'. It really got going in the 1980's. 2011-12-23 15:48:25
