In the week ending December 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 366,000, a decrease of 19,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 385,000. The 4-week moving average was 387,750, a decrease of 6,500 from the previous week's revised average of 394,250.
Eh, it's better. The unadjusted number was 433,287 though. That's a drop of 95k from the previous week -- so whether the "adjustments" are reasonable or not is open to question. I guess we'll find out.

What the hell happened there? It looks like a hell of a lot of people got laid off and shifted into the extended programs as well. This definitely wasn't in the November numbers for the big report..... so where did these people (nearly 900,000 of them?!) go?
