Lowbeyond wrote..Cops have shown to be the enemy. The us vs them mentality started with them. That is the way they seem to like it.Cops have been shown to be AN enemy. Undoubtedly, in my current day-to-day life as well as historically, cops have been the biggest threat to my personal safety and that of my wallet than any criminal (for reference, I'm a typical office worker). The danger lies in assessing all members of a mostly-threatening group as equal to the threat posed by the worst among them, since by that measure ALL humans are bad since every human that has done me wrong has been... human. Undoubtedly, there are corrupt cops. Undoubtedly, there are evil cops. Yes, a very dangerous "us versus them" mentality has been cultivated by cops. None of this negates the matter that each cop is a human being that is responsible for his/her own choices. Can you articulate your point of view to a cop? If not, why not? Have you thought through courses of action and their consequences should attempts to use reason fail? Can you accept such consequences? If not, what have you done to try to address the problem peaceably? Last modified: 2011-10-27 14:58:16 by ignorantsavage
