Pietertvl - Great comments, I completely agree on mandatory sunset provisions on ALL laws, after which they cannot just be waved through again (perhaps pass w/simple majority with a LOW single digit year review timeframe, then require a supermajority for continuation? Allows reactivity, but gets quickly moderated... TSA and Patriot Act would be gone by now). There are far, far, to many things on the books that serve no purpose other than to move us closer and closer to a police state the longer they languish. I would add to that provision that any laws that have NUMBERS must be indexed properly. By which I mean: monetary values (for instance, for determining civil vs. criminal damages) must be linked to inflation, age limits must be linked to average lifespans (entitlements). Laws that deal with age of majority and / or education would not work in that system, but they shouldn't be a Federal matter anyway. I could knock over a large vase and be sued under criminal court in some states, since the division I mentioned above was put into black-letter numbers before this 30 year long debt Ponzi started.
