Gen, there is nothing wrong with my proposal. Nowhere did I say that defense should be zero. I got the idea from reading the last balanced budget amendment as to how we will handle cost overruns from defense spending such as Obama's war on Libya etc. |
Gantww, specifically mentioned military spending. Congress approves military spending and thus would determine the amount of the deduction of on the payroll check.
Further, if you were to define the job of the Federal government as it should be, you would probably say national defense as the number one item, and all the other stuff like Medicare and SS are nanny state items are outside the original intent and business of the Federal government. As such we should only have two items on our payroll tax deductions. Gov operating exp and def spending. Everything else should be to the states.
I thought it was a reasonable proposal and nowhere did I ever suggest zeroing def spending.
