Gantww If I wanted to fix government spending, the first thing I would do is tax defense spending directly from the employee's paycheck as a separate item. Defense is as big of an item as SS and Medicare so why not include it. Then if there is a war, have the new cost immediately go out as a tax raise to the employee paycheck. This will put an end to military spending getting expanded beyond budget. It will also put an end to the bull**** wars and make people question our level of defence spending. Then lower the level of federal tax to offset the removal of def spending. There, defense spending going over budget quashed! Once it is a payroll tax item, lowering defense spending becomes a high multiplier stimulus item when cut. ;) I think I just put myself on the military industrial complex hit list. 2011-07-14 16:59:38
