Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner's latest attempt [via the letter] to convince some Republicans that boosting the debt limit is necessary does not seem to be gaining traction. So in this Mexican Standoff, who's gonna flinch? My guess, based on history, is that it will be the Republi-turds. Then again, they'll have to suffer the Tea Party going ape**** if they do.
It is telling that the Republi-turds' line in the sand is "no new taxes," and the Demo-craps' is "no spending cuts." That is, the very things that produced the boil to begin with during Reagan's two terms; the very things whose continuation have made its coming to a head inevitable; it has taken over three decades, but RIGHT NOW it is fit to bust...
May you live in interesting times...
