We live in the Chicago area, and go downtown frequently for lunch or to enjoy a show. So far this year, the stores have been busy, a lot of people moving around both in the store and outside. On Saturday, we went to Macy's (the old Marshall Field's on State St.). I was stunned at how empty it was. Normally, the first floor is busy with people walking around. That was not the case. We rode the creaky old elevators all the way to the top floor (8). The place was eerily empty. I do not know how they will survive if this continues. We did our part to keep the store a float. We bought a few pieces of Frango mint chocolat and a cup of coffee. That was it.
