Captain Hindsight says we as a nation have not been vigilant, and we have allowed the entity who needs the most attention to educate and indoctrunate us and our children for a generation.

Such doesn't help the problem of people being idiots. This is the very reason why inalienable rights are so important, as they, by definition, are not able to be infringed by any moral or legal means (though force is always an option for those inclined to evil).
