Religious organization get (just) a few more legal protections under our law than non-religious organizations. You want to classify Islam as a non-religious organization.
You pointed out yourself that not only is Islam receiving special treatment that non-religions are not entitled to, it's also receiving special treatment that religious organizations are not entitled to.
So tell me again how classifying Islam as a non-religion will correct this state of affairs? If the government is willing to break the rules for Islam-as-a-religion why won't they continue breaking the rules for Islam-as-a-non-religion?
