So what takes so long these days ? Last mortgage I got, in 2005, was 10% of my house, so 90% equity. I had an approval and funding within 2 weeks.

Is the problem the down payment, or what ? It only takes a minute to check credit scores, or to get a copy of the past few years' tax returns to verify income, not to mention the appraisal.

I just honestly don't see why the delays are/should be longer, assuming you have all the necessary documents in hand.

Obviously, I'm not a mortgage processor smiley
