@Movedtonz you did your homework as did I. We could have hours of "interesting" conversations on it. I consumed the data and the studies. My wife just didn't have the energy to do so, so I had to be the defender of the faith, so to speak.

Now, compound the above with 3 young children, one of which was attempting to breast feed at the time...until we found out WHY the baby couldn't breast feed on that side.

And then compound the aforementioned while serving as director in a company we all know, in new product development.

but speaking of moving, are y'all getting all these offers in the mail to buy your property? I just got 2 today, for an unimproved wooded chunk in another county, more than an hour from any city, and they are actually increasing their offers to the point of almost being worth considering. I have gotten these letters for years but they were always so far under even tax value as to be laughable, but it looks like they're getting a little more serious now.
It seems like they ought to be slowing down now, but they are actually picking up.
Also as far as moving, if I'm going to *have* to make a stand, I'd like it to be someplace that I've had years to make "improvements" versus on the run...

In the end, I was a bit ambivalent as I would lose access to some elements of my hobby. DW on the other hand said that she was going, and I was welcome to join her...

With young children, work, and then cancer, way too much on the plate. There is definitely stress in shifting to a new country, even one that speaks the same language (sorta). I suggest that you made the right choice for the time considering all of the variables. Maybe in the future considerations may change.

Some in the mail, but mostly on my wife's cell phone! I have no idea how they got her number unless it's somehow attached to the public records? The last mailer was from someone in Rhode Island. Well, if I'm going to sell to a Yankee, I've already decided there's a "snowbird" premium, shall we say. :)

Yup, this is why I'm 50/50 on a relo. The very reason you mentioned above.

Hear hear on the snowbird premium as you say...I'm now just waiting to see how high they actually go. I'm expecting that sort of speculative stuff to slow down pretty drastically, but if it somehow keeps going up, certainly there's a line where I will be happy to sign off on it...
