I gave up woke TV a long time ago. Will occasionally tune in for sports that I like, or local news. If you are watching woke TV note how woke the commercials are now.

Going by YouTube commercials, everything is woke. Friendships between white women and black women are common, even in the Google animated ads for google fi. Most depictions of couples are white woman/black man. Complete unrealistic and not the norm. All of the tropes are continuously shown to brainwash the public into thinking the degeneracy is normal.

The only thing I've watched on TV in the past 10-15 years is combat sports, everything else is ****. Babylon 5 was the last TV series I followed and I stopped watching NHL hockey when they pussified all the rules in the early to mid 2000s. Fighting & violence is an intrinsic part of hockey, working to remove it makes the game stupid and unwatchable.

"Eventually, they cant create."

They never could. Any clear-eyed observer would note that even the stuff they "re-boot" was virtually content-free to begin with.

Seriously, watch most of the shows or movies you liked when you were younger and try not to laugh.

Kidding aside, Paramount + has some good content. Yellowstone is great, Kevin Costner still knows how to make engaging content thats contemporary but avoids the woke pandering, along with 1883 which is a prequel to it. Another good series is on Netflix called Ozark with Jason Bateman who plays a dad who has to flee Chicago to the Ozarks to launder money for a Mexican cartel. It also manages to avoid the woke factor.

I've recently returned from visiting some woke-in-laws. They were all suffering from various ailments. That's another story but...

The woke-in-laws were all excited to talk about some Netflix series narrated by their hero, Obama! They apparently watched every episode and couldn't wait for more.

There was an instance when a TV was on with two lesbos kissing. The woke-in-laws were grinning from ear to ear.

There's a lot of sickness out there and people are willing to pay for it.

As for satan; God vs. satan is a continuum. It's good vs. evil. You can't have good without evil. You can't have evil without good.

Evil exists and it's not going anywhere. Why? It's necessary for free will. God gave us free will. We get to choose good or evil.

The corollary is that - when faced with a choice, look for evil. Satan is lurking and wants you to make the evil choice.

Most people are too lost and self-absorbed to understand this. They will believe the evil lies like 'it's a choice' instead of 'thou shalt not murder.' They will believe in 'free' goverment cash instead of 'thou shalt not steal.'

Satan is the most evil mofo around, he's the end of the continuum. He's cunning and sly and he wants us miserable and ****ing dead so he can torment our souls. If you think TG's rusty chainsaw up the ass it bad, it's nothing compared to what satan has in mind.

Indeed many of us have. I have not watched TV in 30 years. I am 72 now, and did not have cable even back then. But my mother was alive back then, and when I visited her, the squawkbox was always on. This was the early 90's and I'd watch with her, just to be companionsble.

But for myself? Nope never paid a cable bill.

I remember when cable television (known then as community access television or CATV) came to my area in the 1970s. Back then a lot of houses had external chimney mounted television antennas that could be rotated 360 degrees by a small electric motor controlled from inside the house. My house had such an antenna so we got excellent television reception. CATV offered better reception for local stations but since my house sat on a hilltop we already had good reception and did not get a CATV subscription.

I was the "prime installer" of said antenna on my childhood home. Prior to my being able to scale the roof and attach same to the chimney with the rotator on it we had.... rabbit ears.

I am semi-addicted to sports. Well, a couple of them anyway. Mostly the NFL (I know, I know) but this time of year is great. NCAA Lacrosse championships. Lax is a great sport.

But damn those NCAA commercials. And virtually every other commercial that airs during the games. ****ing virtue-signalling, stupid-ass BLM supporting dip****s.

Couldn't disagree more with the contribution that has given up on hockey because of the cutting down on fighting and violence. I played organized hockey into my twenties. Fighting and violence was tolerated when the average salary was 100K When the players organized and salaries went 7 figures or 8 what owner or fan wants to see their star get boarded or high sticked and miss half a season by a minimum salary goon. Hockey doesn't miss your ilk.

I have to agree with ticker guy (as usual). There's so many good movies available that were produced pre-woke era. Very few could be made today. I'd never advocate anything illegal, especially on this great site. Lots of content in the public domain. If you happen to subscribe to a VPN service, and you happen to have a program like q.bitt.orrent installed, and you happen to visit a site like rarbg - you'll never have to put up with that woke crap or support the Hollyweird agenda again.

Even without Woke, there's a fundamental problem to long running drama, whether it's TV, movie sequels, book series, whatever. If there's any sort of character arc, at some point, it's over, usually by season 3 of a TV series. The main characters have completed their arc, confronted their issues, overcome their obstacles (or conclusively failed to do so), the story is told. The End.

But if you need to squeeze a Season 4, or a second sequel, etc. out of the story and characters, what do you do? I have a sister-in-law who was addicted to one of those daytime soap operas. When we visited, it would be on. I'd catch snippets. The characters would go through radical shifts. The writers would have to completely trash the character so they could jump-start some new dramatic arc for them.

Complete nonsense.

Back to that "can't create" business - not only is Hollywood full of Woke idiots, they can't figure out how to start a new setting, a new group of characters, they have to take something familiar and skin-suit it. Partially because they like destroying cultural icons, but also because they got not other way to fill the running time.

Current day movies are 80% CGI glitz and things exploding. The plot and characters are only there to rationalize having the technology on display.

Old movies are about plot and the characters, and they usually have something to say about how the world works and why straying from 'normal' usually winds up with outcomes that aren't desirable, just like real life, where everyone has flaws.

The problem with this is that, over time, I've come to place a great deal of emphasis on dialog and how the characters interact with each other. Today's movies are poor when it comes to this.

"There is something to TV shows going down hill at season 4. The last TV show I cared about was Miami Vice and it went into the toilet starting with season 4"

It's because any successful episodic entertainment is usually the same story over and over again. Around season 4-5, the viewers, though they may not realize the fundamental issue, get bored, and the makers, who also may not realize the fundamental issue, either keep making the same episode with minor variations until the plug gets pulled, or they try to switch things up, which doesn't often work out, because even bored viewers don't like nobody messin' with their programs.

Rude Awokening for an Empire of Lies

I'm with Jack Crabb - I grew up an NFL fan even as a little kid, thanks for some rabid family fans, and even up until a few years ago it was a guilty pleasure. Once we ditched our TV, I would still catch a game when visiting family, especially the Thanksgiving games were always on at our host's. But boy these last few years, the commercials are demonstrating all the wokeness as described here. It's a crying shame when you have to cover the eyes of any kids in the room due to the &^%&%^ commercials, and even worse half of the commercials are just for the ^%$^& shows on that same network.

@bluto

Regarding the left/right brain issues. Remember 20+ years ago when a management consulting firm came in to evaluate how managers made decisions. The women were primarily in the right and the men in the left within this scientific institution.

People able to make good " gut" decisions usually have some previous experience but also have a high level of environmental discernment. These decisions are tempered and sorted through rational processes when possible.

By that I mean one can get a gut feeling but bounce the idea off the other side of the brain. I doubt this is something people with poor impulse control can do.

And it is the lack of impulse control that is the issue with some right brain types.

On the other side of the spectrum are the left brain types. The worst are the ones that assume they are always correct to the point of arrogance. This is very dangerous also without proper impulse control.

I was the only person in a "quandary" supposedly split evenly between both. The claimed it was simply a transitory phase likely due to the recent death of my father. No one ever stays in the middle -lol.

They came back a little more than a year later. Same exact result. - lol.

We have two brain systems for a reason. The right side makes it easier to make those instant life/death decisions and the left for longer strategy.

We have become a nation of hedonists and self-discipline and responsibility continue to wane. Do it if it feels good to you is only a good mantra for a wicked life.

On a related note to current times and this article i recommend that anyone with a streaming service watch the three season series "Defiance". It is set in a post war world, of course by alien invasion and conflict, however it is believable in non-extraterrestrial context and has good, accurate lessons of how things might be after any world wide war and destruction and how it unfolded. Nothing looks cheap or just to play CGI games, actually a feast for the eyes in many regards, free from SJW crap and more based in reality of how people will adapt and survive when all cultural and value variables are on the table. Excellent character development.

If you want an idea of how society will rebuild and what powers will arise to reorganize when everything is on the table and all assumptions are gone, watch "Defiance".

Either way it is great TV.
