Re: Covid resurgence - Slightly off topic but anecdotally here in river city, younger people making appearances in the local obits again.... hearing stories from constituents almost daily of someone they know diagnosed with cancer, heart conditions etc.... just, JUST heard of one that the known jabbed/boosted 60 year old fell over dead this morning after getting out of bed. No complaints, previous symptoms, nothing. Alive, 5 minutes later dead.

@Frat

To pile on to your premise about China. Consider the various reports about shortages of missiles of one type or another, even drones on our part and even on Russia's part. The dirty little secret about all this high tech weaponry is that A) It costs a LOT per item and B) The supply gets used up fast. It's not like we just need more bullets which are cheap and plentiful.

China only has to wait for Russia and the West to pretty well pull down their supply. Then there are the chip shortages. Hey, seems to me that most of these neat-o little gadgets have plenty da chip in them.

China will be last man standing at this rate--and in the not so distant future

Edit: The nuclear issue is a whole nuther story and when that cat is let out of the bag, well, nobody wins

Seems to me, we have opened the barn door.

Obama turned the Democrat party into blood thirsty war mongers, eight years of killer profits from the MIC will do that to the politically involved. I don't think that Vlad has even come close to surpassing the number of civilians killed by Obama during his two term presidency...

97.5% of Congress believes that war is good for their bank accounts... Which oddly enough is just under the percentage of the Congress and the Senate that favors lockdowns and forced vaccines.

Remember kiddies, voting is consent. smiley

Congratulations again; make sure you tell your sons and daughters to bone up on their shooting skills just in case we wind up in a no-bull**** war with Russia, because we just might.

Oh, I will indeed do so for the Fratspawn, but with a very different set of targets in mind... Mine won't be going overseas to fight a war we have no beef in entered into by yet another progressive(ish) democrat's stupidity. Not happening. And yes, I am willing to die to ensure that.

This. This is the way forward.

Anyone care to address Greenacres question? It's a valid question. I personally know vaxxed folks who thus far have not had any issues and thus ranges from young adults into elderly. Of course I've also seen the vaxxed get sick repeatedly too.

So far all the vaxxed celebrities who get covid seem to be getting through it without much trouble. I'm guessing that's just because covid continues to not be too serious for people without comorbidities, but I am still waiting for some of the famous vaxxers to start getting hospitalized, ventilated, etc., just to really put that out in the public view.

Ironically enough, the only people I've found in the area where I live who agree with me on the Covid narrative AND the Ukraine narrative are... a couple of long-time Marxists. Trump-supporting, Gadsden-flag-waving... Marxists. (Previously I didn't even know there was such a thing.) I seem to always end up with people who don't fit neatly into pigeonholes.

Wakeupcall -- they do not respond to talk as it is known to be more for the citizens of the particular country making the threat.

It is necessary to think like them, not react.

Targeting a superpower leader is amazingly if not impossibly difficult. Success is not desired as it leads to an insane war.

They want this to drag on for a few years.

Some years ago, the neighbor came over, to ask if I wanted to take the kids to the shooting range with some of his buddies. I told him sure, we set it up for the next weekend.

We were at the range, he pulls up with his buddies, they looked like Lance Armstrong Wannabe's with guns, matching bags, scope covers, gloves, you name it.

I brought two guns for the kidos (their choice), AK47, and AR15. One of the guys asked who wanted to go first, we were on the 100 yard range, my daughter volunteered, she picked the AK, range was called hot. She was standing getting ready to take her first shot, one of the guys, told her, she could sit at the table, pointing to it. She declined, said "no I'm good" , took her first shot she looked at me, I was to her left side manning the spotting scope, gave her a thumbs up, told her, "your on it stay there".

She took four more shots, and handed the gun to he brother, told him, if he wanted to he could finish off the mag, which he did.

My daughter came over to me and asked what did she do wrong, I told her she did not do anything wrong, and asked her why was she asking. She pointed, and said the guys were packing everything up, looked like they were leaving (which they did). I told her don't worry about it, that we would talk once we were in the truck headed home.

I explained to her, those guys were not going to shoot after her period, after what they witnessed.

We got home the neighbor came over with tears streaming, and laughing so hard he could barely talk. He said, he told all of his buddies, the family next door could shoot better than any one of them, especially the girl. His words, "I'll be damned if she didn't go first."

anecdotal. Did a trip many years ago (my own funds, not employer's) to tour 3 Gorges dam and impact area upstream therefrom, from personal and professional interest. One of my professional trip colleagues was naturalized U.S. citizen, married, 2 young children. Grew up under Mao and Madam Mao. He and I had some side conversations that others in the group missed out on. Got his true education after Mao passed, with unbelievable committment and effort, staggered my imagination what it took to get to college readiness by age 19. His family's and his own personal child-age experiences living through the Great Famine and Cultural Revolution of the 60s that Mao triggered, among other stories.

He told me the reason why Mao promoted huge families back then (before PTTB decided they'd overdone it and reverted to one-child extreme policy), was that Mao was convinced that US and Russia would do in the whole world with nuclear war and China would need to have sufficient population ready to repopulate the planet after the rest of the world collapsed. My jaw dropped at the logic.

I never imagined the USA would intentionally provoke a major power into a global war to divert attention from an impending financial catastrophe.

Then again, I never imagined the White House would be occupied a serial rapist, a Kenyan muslim or a demented pedophile. Silly me...

I'm thankful for the knowledge shared here. Just pulled back my 401K contribution after the first quarterly loss that I can recall. Almost no one in my day to day interactions beyond my wife and brother-in-law have any clue what is on the horizon. Ignorance may be bliss but it doesn't feed the family.

This (Lend Lease) is what happens when you distort history to fit a narrative.

It was OK to do LL prior to our involvement in WW2, because "Hitler was bad." Never mind that it makes us a belligerent, and the only thing that allowed it to happen was that the Atlantic Ocean was too vast for a German reprisal.

That doesn't exist today.

Justifying things because of being on "the right side of history" is still breaking conventions and laws. You see it today on small scales when those that purport to be on "the right side of history" do things like censoring, cancelling, and outright assault.

It's OK to punch a Nazi...and the fashionable people define who is a Nazi.

So much of our history is ****ed up because it is warped to shape a narrative of virtue, despite the facts. Same works in reverse where our "enemies" are smeared with atrocity narratives.

We never learned from this history because the self-described historians (the people that promoted and won WW2) have intentionally muddled it so we will repeat the folly.

@Tritumi

It's number two.

Shanghai is the stronghold of former president Jiang Zemin and his clique. There is a (currently) non-violent civil war going on in China between Xi and many of the other former leaders, lead by Zemin. Their stronghold is Shanghai (with the support of the vast majority of its residents). However, it is spreading to other places, including Guangdong province (Shenzhen) and even Beijing. I got all of this from a guy I know (American) who owns a business in China. He also said they are importing something like 70% of their food because of poor harvests over the past three years, with this year expected to be even worse. He thinks they are running out of reserves over this and other reasons and actually considered invading Taiwan last fall for no reason other than to get their hands on Taiwan's foreign reserves.

I think with Colbert he probably took Paxlovid.

I know a couple people that took Paxlovid, got better in a day, and then had a really bad recurrence a week later. It's starting to make mainstream news that Paxlovid causes this in "rare" cases.

It's possible that he got it twice too of course.
