Was at a dinner party Saturday night. Old friends and some family. Old friends are jabbed. Don't know about boosted, we don't talk about it.

Wife just texted me that my buddy who is my age has covid.

I woke up with sore throat achy and 99.2 fever. Feeling chilled.

Vit I this a.m. just in case. Will update.

I do not want to know what a WW3 ground war would look like....but I suspect with drone coverage, we will.

I also never thought that the democrat party would morph so soundly into a party of war chasing maniacs.

Oh, I will indeed do so for the Fratspawn, but with a very different set of targets in mind... Mine won't be going overseas to fight a war we have no beef in entered into by yet another progressive(ish) democrat's stupidity. Not happening. And yes, I am willing to die to ensure that.

Many folks who have gotten vaxxed (and boosted) have been so intolerable in word and deed that I posted a "die, die, die" message on another thread. I am so very angry. That said, I am not sure I like who I am becoming as a result of the last two years of pure unadulterated bull****.

You might not like who you are becoming but you are becoming who you need to be. The times we live in determine who we need to be and it often is not who we want to be. A lot of us are in this boat right now.

@Whitehat While our experts may appreciate that the Russkies don't want war, these same experts have been bullying countries worldwide with impunity since the end of WWII. Putin didn't want war with the Ukraine, but after eight years of our meddling there in an attempt to get the Ukes into NATO, and an impending Ukrainian military strike against the Donbass Russians, he acted. Putin has said that Russia would strike like no one has ever seen before if an existential threat is presented to Russia. Our experts keep ratcheting up the provocations and, given their long history of doing so with impunity, they may very well go to far. We'll know when too far is reached when the Pants-Sh*tter-in Chief finds a Russian hypersonic missile in his Depends.

I tried really hard for hmmmmm 2 seconds to muster up some sympathy for some of my former friends who keep whining about getting covid even though they are jabbed. Finally decided I needed a good laugh. So, I asked one of them if they were glad they took the shot. Said friend, "Absolutely! It would be so much worse without it. Yes, I will take boosters and if they offer a yearly jab, I'll take that too." I walked away snickering.

Just got a text from a friend. His former college athlete wife, early 40's, who has worked at one of the most prestigious hospitals in the US (named for the city in which it resides) is now hospitalized and requiring an emergency heart transplant.

As Vox would say, we don't know it's the vaxx, but it's totally the vaxx.

I have taken to watching all of this with a very detached bemusement. The "suddenly, unexpectedly" illness and death; the slow motion market meltdown; the steadily rising fuel prices; the grocery bills going up up up; the inability to hire even marginally qualified candidates. Some if not all of these things are impacting me directly, yet I have been paying attention and so I have expected them. But what is so odd to me is that by and large, people STILL aren't putting it all together.

I read an article once (it might have been here, who knows, I have been reading here for 13 years now!) that claimed that the key to survival in any situation is simply to MOVE. Those who survive airplane crashes, for example, are the people who get right up, deploy the exit ramp, and get the hell out. Many deaths are attributable to people whose plane skids to a stop at the end of the runway, and then they sit there waiting for someone to tell them what to do. A fire on the wing seems like no big deal, so they sit passively, but then are overwhelmed by smoke inhalation 90 seconds later when the fire travels to the cabin and everyone crushes at the door trying to leave. Meanwhile, the proactive guy that everyone looked at funny is watching from 100 yards away in relief/horror as the cabin is consumed.

Well friends, I took that to heart. I am standing on the grass next to the tarmac, while some ******* in the cabin is posting to social media about how she is fine but some jerk just threw the door open and jumped out. It is the weirdest thing. Everyone is complaining about sudden death, rising prices, falling retirement, provoking war with a nuclear power, but they are all still sitting there waiting for someone to tell them it's an emergency.

**** that. I don't need to be told.

Am I immune to what is coming? No, or course not, none of us are. Circumstance can be a bitch. But I am certainly not going to sit there placidly waiting for that bitch to catch me off guard.

Texted a friend this a.m. concerning signature of the "Lend-Lease Bill". Was interested in his take due to his 2 sons being career military, officers high up in Air Force and Marines (don't know exact rank but close to retirement). He...had...no...clue... I was shocked. If he doesn't "know" that we're at war with Russia by proxy, then 99% of the population doesn't get it either.

Read an article on line yesterday that there is quiet concern as we're drawing down our supply of anti-tank weapons giving so many to Ukraine. And the Russians keep coming back for more.

PRC is quietly reducing dependency on supply chains, both physical and financial, due to fear of the same happening to them as to Russia. I think that the lock downs are for the purpose of political cleansing, stress testing their "system", and to strain supply chains to the West.

Remember, China has to do something with all of those dollars that we send them by virtue of our trade deficit. It's getting increasingly difficult for them to invest in Western real estate, companies, and technology. They only want to own so many Treasuries. They need to divest due to possible sanctions. They've been stockpiling commodities.

Here's the rub... The MIC relies of Fed Gov spending and is licking its chops at the prospect of further aid to Ukraine and a possible conflict with Russia. However, deficit spending is only possible if you can sell debt which is getting increasingly difficult. Japan is selling and everyone else is buying less. The Fed isn't in the mood to enable monetization and printing due to inflationary pressures.

Bold, tin foil hat prediction; the Beltway wants a war to be able to sell war bonds to the domestic population through draining of pensions and retirement savings. It's coming folks.

In the last 2 weeks in my area we had 4 sports reporters come down with rona. All vaxxed, double boosted. A number of local vaxxed personalities have been getting it, to a point that it is no longer news. You see a twitter post and that is about it.

I had a cousin die 'unexpectedly' last week in his sleep. 57, vaxxed, not sure of the timing on the boosters. Another friend on Sunday 'unexpectedly' - 62, vaxxed, boosted.

One other thing...

A couple years ago I stopped in to talk to a local, rural county sheriff I've known for 35 years. Just like to BS with him occasionally. He said that a small, 14-year-old girl who was adopted from Russia was kicking two of his deputies asses before they ended up tazing her...multiple times...

Besides being tougher than hell, Russians are just different.

Bonanza Books published a 1600 page hard bound book containing Time Magazine Time Capsules for the World War II years 1939-1945. I still have a copy which I just fetched from my book case. Got the book sometime in the 1970s. My father and uncles served in the American military during World War II and I have always been interested in that era's history.

I have been watching Patrick Lancaster YouTube videos from Mariupol where he interviews local civilians who have had their residences destroyed by the fighting. What struck me was how stoic these people are. Not surprising since their parents and grand parents suffered greatly during the Great Patriotic War years and under Soviet Communism.

The Covid mess taught TPTB just how easy it is to induce mass psychosis. Now they're just using those same tools to hypnotize us about Ukraine.

I've known that Democrats were peer-pressure-controlled morons for a long time. No surprise there.

What really upsets me is that even among my Republican friends, I have a hard time finding anyone who has not bought the Ukraine b.s. hook, line and sinker. This includes even those who were my allies on the Covid mess.

Here's my theory about that: I think that two years of strenuous, relentless, painful fighting against the mainstream has just plain worn them down. Most of them are completely exhausted by now, and then along comes this Ukraine narrative, which they can buy into and finally feel united with their fellow Americans again.

As hideous as war is, it's a psychological relief for people who are worn out from fighting their government, media, and friends.

Of course, as several commenters have already said, in this thread and others, the only way we prevent WWIII is to keep fighting against our government and media and keep trying to persuade our friends.

I even ask my anti-vaxxx friends: The same media who lied and lied and LIED to you for two years, you are now going to believe about all things Ukraine and Russia? Why on earth would you believe people whom you know to be liars?

So... after the whole wide world watched our utterly humiliating pull-out from Afghanistan, we're now bellowing and throwing our weight around and doing everything we can to start WWIII in Ukraine....

Wouldn't you just love to know what is going through Vladimir Putin's head watching all this?

I don't know, but I can only be sure of one thing: He's not about to let the U.S. turn Russia into the next Iraq or Libya.

I respectfully disagree. Much like the financial games they've played since the mid-00's, it will go on longer than we can ever believe possible, and yes I hate that this is reality. Cognitive dissonance is both a real thing and a major bitch, and the vaxholes have so much invested in being RIGHT, that they would rather be DEAD than admit they have been lied to this whole time. ******on them and DIE DIE DIE, but recognition? Never gonna happen.

And, dammit, small epiphany on the Russia/China side of things, although I'm probably way late and y'all have already come to the same conclusion: China WANTS us to go nuclear with Russia. Think about it - it takes out their two biggest nuclear-armed rivals, will decimate (or likely more) the respective populations, and then China can just waltz into Russia and take whatever natural resources they want, not to mention land for their vile, bastard Han progeny. Who will be there to stop them? Even if Beijing got some of the same flavor of sunshine, there are always another billion-ish to take their spot. I know @Whitehat has theorized for a long time that China is openly coveting Russia's resources and land, but I guess it took me this long to put the 2+2 together in that ALL of this benefits China, and that's why they're forcing their openly-bought-administration and congressional ****s to push Russia to the edge and more. Damn, I must be dense.

No they don't @Frat; it may look that way, but the problem is that the odds of them getting directly involved and thus glowing too are nearly 100% if it happens.

There's a wide variety of people who have put forward the "idea" that you can have a "limited" nuclear exchange of some sort. The problem with that thesis is that someone always loses, and the loser always is sorely tempted to push the button on the way down the drain and nail everyone else, or for "something to go wrong" and one of them lands in an "unexpected" (whether really true or not) place.
