Not sure about that WG idea, but I do recall recently he floated the idea of dispersing aerosol particulates into the upper atmosphere to block out sunlight and stop glow bull warming. It's been a pretty cool and cloudy spring here (****congo area). I suspect the sun and lack of sunspots (Maunder Minimum) may have beaten him to the punch.

I have been taking Vit D, Quercetin, Zinc and a whole host of other vit supplements for years. Nary a cold except due to an occasional sinus infection during alergy season.

The most expensive item is Quercetin.

A business idea worth billions, and easily franchised?
It can't involve teaching or learning, because most people are too stupid.
It can't involve the customer doing something new, because more people are too lazy.
So my guess is a franchise serving either donuts, beer or weed that is fortified with Vitamin D.

There used to be "sunlamps" that you could sit under and get a tan. My family had one, but it got lost somehow. They also used to be in hotel rooms on a timer switch. I'd like one now.

The last time I did a search on sunlamps I got a bunch of those LED array devices that LOOK sunlight bright, but provide little UV, and seem intended only for psychological support in winter.

The sunlight issue is further complicated by the fact that it seems to be the custom these days to be wearing MORE clothing even in high summer than was once the case, especially if you're a guy.

One option is to make a "solar spectrum" bed, much like a tanning bed, that would be sold to gyms and tanning salons. Either that, or a chain of "solar treatment" salons like tanning salons. I think the first is more practical as you can turn your competitors into your customers.

I have a group of people who can design and build the bed (and even get the UL certification as well).

Nope folks. Sorry, but other than a tanning bed (which IMHO you shouldn't use anyway) that big screaming orange ball in the sky is the answer -- and if you can't for some reason (e.g. time of year, etc.) then supplementation makes sense.

Or you can play "hippie" which is what all that bull**** up thread from this response is.

@Traz It's probably the zinc. Try to take the zinc after a full meal and see if that helps.

Im guessing your business some sort of Vit D distribution/education subscription thing.

I once read an account by some doctor that claimed we dont have a flu season. Instead we have a vitamin D deficiency season. Makes sense.

Gen, you knocked it out of the park today. Thanks.

@Traz try switching manufacturers/brand name. Also try to incorporate a quality magnesium supplement and vitamin K2 supplement to work synergistically with the vitamin D.

The behavior of the medical industrial complex with regard to Vitamin D is both stupid and criminal.
It should be part of every blood panel done during one's annual physical and also easily requestable at any other time.

I had an incident last fall with my "doctor". I asked her for a Vit D level to be added to my bloodwork and she forgot. I had to call her and force her to order it.

It came back 50 units (whatever those were, can't remember) and dead center of the normal range which was like 33-80.

At my physical she asked how much I took. I've been taking 8000 about 5 days a week (I tend to forget) since the pandemic started, but I told her 4000 IU because I knew she'd freak out about it if I told her the real number.

She then told me a blood level of 50 was TOO HIGH and to back off my supplement to 2000!
50 was the MIDDLE OF THE RANGE.

If I could find one taking patients I'd change docs. The ignorance of PCPs on this topic is absurd.

I also had an endocrinologist tell me I was "killing myself" with the daily 2000 IU of D I was taking at the time. I called his bluff and told him to test if if he thought that was the case.
He did, and the number came back 1 digit over the BOTTOM of the normal range (like at 34 in a 33-80 range).

Yes D can be bad if you get too much but that's why they should be testing!

I also know I dont get enough sun as I live up north, have an office job plus use sunscreen as I've had some really painful precancerous lesions lasered off my face.
For me supplementation with testing is a no-brainer but apparently these docs don't even have that much brain.

Dr. Ryan Cole (and many others) point out that from October through April, if you live above the 35th parallel, you CANNOT get sufficient Vitamin D from sunshine even if you were to stand outside, totally naked, all day long. It has to do with the angle of the sun.

Also, most people think they're getting enough Vitamin D if they take a multivitamin and meet the U.S. RDA. But that RDA was calculated to give you enough Vitamin D for bone health only, NOT for your immune system, which needs far more. I think the RDA is off by like an order of magnitude.

Zinc must be taken with food. Everyone I know who has taken zinc on an empty stomach got nauseated, some even to the point of vomiting.

I can take zinc on an empty stomach no problem. If I do take it on an empty stomach the problem it causes is lower than my stomach.

In the spring of 2020 I frequented the reddit COVID19 board. It limited the threads to discussion of posted scientific studies. vitamin D came up over and over again and many of the participants shat on the studies for one reason or another. One poster recommended D. She was an administrator for a couple of nursing homes in the upper West. Oragon or Washington state. Forgot which. She said all of their residents are put on 5K of VD per day for several years based upon research indicating the correlation with higher VD levels leaving one less susceptible to flu and other respiratory ailments. She said both homes had COVID cases sporadically among the residents but none of them were serious or needing hospitalization, unlike a few of the workers that were hit.

We take 10K a day from fall until spring then half it. Along with the D we take Vitamin K2 (MK-7) as it keeps calcium levels mobilized to the bone rather than the soft tissues and arteries.

My wife went to a bone doctor who recommends high D supplementation. He thinks if you levels get over 150 ng/dl then you might have some problems, but other than that go for it. When I piped up about the K he said all the better.

One odd thing about VD. If you eat a lot of fructose your liver will slow down converting VD to an active form as the liver favorably processes the fructose over other tasks including VD. It may be because the liver veins fructose as a harmful compound that needs to be dealt with immediately. If you consider the soda consumption in poorer communities it's no wonder they're deficient and hit harder with the RONA. Also, if you have a high amount of Body fat that too can reduce the available VD.

Early on in the covid pandemic it was shown that there was a strong correlation between vitamin D deficiency and severity of covid. At that point I don't think it was established whether they were merely correlated or one caused the other. Even before knowing that there is indeed causation it was very bizarre to me that the health authorities didn't make any effort to tell people to test their vitamin D level and supplement if needed, or heck, just take 2000-3000 IUs/day. Highly unlikely that you will overdose at that level, probably even at 5000 IUs/day. When the pandemic was front page news every day I told a friend to start taking vitamin D. He goes to his doctor and asks him if he should take vitamin D. Doctor says NO. WTF? Is that doctor merely an idiot who parrots whatever the "medical association" told him to say? I don't get it.

I was thinking some sort of medical treatment vitamin D enhancement facility, where you can bill all the medical insurance companies millions of dollars for this vitamin infusion process (having clients walk around outside in your back yard in the daylight)
Seems like the right billing person could make quite a bit!

@TG

LOL at your comment about the comments.

As I was reading through the comments and formulating my thoughts on your essay, the first thing that popped into my head was this:

I know you are specifically talking about Vitamin D, that the community knew about some mitigating correlations very early on, and that those correlations were being suppressed; however, it seems you went around the world to get to one of your conclusions: The people of the U.S. of A. are all another term for what we call cats.

My family basically turns and runs the other way, as do friends. My soap box now is there is no standard any more.

Example: My wife and I were watching my kid's HS soccer match a couple of weeks ago. I was a soccer referee for 20+ years and got to just below the professional ranks. I even worked a couple of U-20 international matches. I've been through a lot of higher level training. I made some comments about the mechanics of the referee crew. My wife said to be quite and that not everyone does things the way you (me) do. I said that's just a small example of what is wrong with all of society. What I was commenting on was the referee crew's lack of professionalism and standards and practices that every entry level referee should know. They were not doing. I further commented that if there are no standards there is only anarchy as everyone just does what feels right to them. It's all arbitrary.

If WE THE PEOPLE will not uphold the Constitution then it's all arbitrary.

I hope I didn't get too far off to be banhammered.

I get all my tests done through LifeExtension, primarily to avoid seeing a doctor.

Is it a "tanning salon" where you use a giant magnifying glass to "harness the power of the sun" --while laughing maniacally-- as a form of execution to those in government who did their level best to kill our people by depriving them of Vitamin D and injecting gene-therapy instead, while themselves "fortifying their immune system" by taking it?
