In any sane world it would be worth billions.  It could be franchised trivially all over the United States and indeed the world.

I'll tell you what it is at the end, but first, why the opportunity exists.

It exists because both State and Federal Governments, along with unelected "public health" people such as Fauci, the CDC, state and local Departments of Health and big tech all told you that Covid was a disease that had no mitigations other than to evade inhaling it and, once the jabs became available you had to get them "or else" -- with "or else" being either death, losing your job or other sanction.  Further, they told you that if you were a healthy human being this virus was basically Ebola and would kill you if you got it with a very high degree of certainty.

That was all a lie, incidentally.

But if you mentioned anything else you got blackballed.  People were banned off Twitter, off Facebook, I had articles written six months earlier flagged by Google as "medical misinformation" when I was citing studies published in the medical literature or the statistical data from coroner's offices and more.

Leave aside repurposed drugs that, the evidence shows, do indeed work.  I know they work, at least some of the time, because I used them when I got Covid and they worked.  I used them because the literature that was available said they probably would work and the risk of using them, all things used by millions of others, was extremely close to zero.

But oh no.

Especially not when it came to things that had a literal zero risk and yet were common deficiencies -- in fact, so common that in the US basically everyone is as a result of lifestyle and "advice" given to us throughout our lives.

In May of 2020 I pointed out that we already had data on one particular metabolic factor for severe or fatal Covid-19 -- Vitamin D levels.  It was a correlation, which does not prove cause, but nearly everyone who wound up in the hospital or dead was deficient or severely-so.  There is exactly zero risk in making sure you're not; that is, using a supplement at a reasonable level that anyone can buy over the counter for literal pennies.

Very high levels of Vitamin D are dangerous, and the damage from them can be irreversible.  But we're not talking about very high levels.  We're talking about normal, healthy levels.  Levels everyone should have.  Levels that, absent supplementation, are gained exactly one way: Through exposure to the sun on bare, unprotected skin.

In other words exactly what cannot occur if you're locked inside by government edict.

Well, now its not correlation anymore.  Now its a randomized clinical trial, the gold standard of medicine.

Of 321 recruited subjects, 94 VDG and 98 PG completed follow-up. SARS-CoV-2 infection rate was lower in VDG than in PG (6.4 vs. 24.5%, p <0.001). The risk of acquiring SARS-CoV-2 infection was lower in the VDG than in the PG (RR: 0.23; 95% CI: 0.09–0.55) and was associated with an increment in serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 (RR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.82–0.93), independently of VD deficiency. No significant adverse events were identified.

These were all health care workers and thus at extremely high risk for exposure and the study was done before there were vaccines, so jabs could not have possibly changed the outcomes.  The cohorts are reasonably-well matched.  The relative risk reduction is approximately 75% to get the virus at all, and obviously if you don't get it you can't get seriously ill or die.

May I point out that the confidence interval on that study, wide simply due to the relatively small sample, is that if you use the supplement you are from 9% to 55% as likely to get it as if you don't.  That's a risk reduction of from 45% to 91%, with the center of the curve at 77%.

In other words three quarter of the time, roughly, it worked.

I was silenced as were others, called "quacks" and worse for recommending that people make damn sure they were not Vitamin D deficient.  This entire side of the blog exists because of those actions.  No, Vitamin D supplements were not perfect protection.  Not in the least.  But had our government, social media and others not silenced those who made this recommendation, and may I point out that at one point Fauci himself said he was taking this supplement daily, 75% of those who got Covid would not have gotten it at all and that would be reasonably expected to have cut the death rate by 75% as well, since if you don't get it you can't die of it.

Now I don't happen to buy the "1 million" Americans killed "by" Covid.  Many of them were probably killed by Remdesivir from what I can determine.  But that doesn't matter either because if you don't get the virus you don't get sick, you don't go to the hospital and they can't cram an expensive drug into you that might shut down your kidneys and kill you.

Again, you don't die.

If you attenuate the number of people who get sick you also destroy the desire, which is entirely based on fear, for people to take experimental jabs.

Here's the other remarkable fact.  Mexico is materially south of most of the United States, of course, never mind Europe.  You'd thus think that the people who lived there, being exposed to a higher level of UV from the sun, would not be Vitamin D deficient.  You'd be wrong.  Have a look at the baseline statistics in that study; only 6% of the people at the start of the study had normal levels; everyone else was not with six to seven in ten -- 64-70% -- formally deficient.  What do you think the odds are that for all intents and purposes nearly everyone in the United States does not have a normal Vitamin D level with basically all of that being caused by the fact that we sit inside intentionally away from exposure to the sun?

But your government, state and local, every single executive in "Big Tech", all of the so-called "public health" people and myriad doctors, hospitals and others in the pharmaceutical and medical systems all told you that this was bull****, it would do nothing and you should go hide in your house -- and become more deficient in your Vitamin D levels.

Instead of either taking a sun bath (yes, in your birthday suit) or supplementing with Vitamin D capsules which cost pennies and are available in every place where over the counter supplements are sold -- which is basically everywhere.

(As an aside this resistance is known to not be Covid-specific.  It also applies to the flu and other respiratory viruses and that efficacy, if it translates to the flu, is higher than that provided by the flu shot yet costs far less and doesn't make the doctor or pharmacy any money.  Why are you taking that flu shot again, may I ask?  And may I ask why this hasn't been formally studied and reported until now?  It's not about money, is it?)

So given this now-known fact what should have been done to every one of these officials and every single officer, director and employee of said "big tech" entities given that we knew the correlation was there with those who got seriously ill, I pointed it out in May of 2020, there was no downside to making sure you weren't deficient and it might work to stop you from getting sick.

As it turns out 75% of the time it does stop you from getting sick.

With zero risk unlike that of drugs or jabs, never mind that there is no good outcome from being deficient in a necessary vitamin, so there is never an argument against acting reasonably to insure you're not.

By the way, I lied up above when I said I was going to tell you what my business idea is.  I'm not going to.  You're going to have to guess.

I won't pursue that business idea for one simple reason: The entirety of the people in this nation are perfectly ok with the above individuals and organizations killing 750,000 Americans by deliberately suppressing advice to not be deficient in this particular vitamin, when said deficiency could be corrected for pennies.  There is not one person in this nation who could not have taken care of that, and if our government and Big Tech wasn't so busy denouncing or even forcibly silencing those of us who were advocating doing so, and the nation had done so, three quarters of those who are dead would very likely not be.

Since literally nobody will hold any of these people to account there's no point in setting up such a business because it would have no sales.  You see, without citizens willing to demand that proper and reasonable punishment be leveled against every single person responsible for the slaughter of three quarters of a million Americans there is no market, and thus no point.

And by the way, if you want to know why I consider this nation along with myriad others to be full of worthless individuals that have no soul, no brain, no value and thus I don't give a flying **** about Ukraine or any of the other petty dictators around the world that's the reason.  As a nation we're perfectly happy to sit on our ass while 750,000 of our fellow citizens are slaughtered by hubris, arrogance and..... for profit -- right here at home.

We've not done a single thing about it, and my money is on the table saying that as a nation cohesively and down to every individual in it we won't.

The problem with this nation and the reason people died isn't a virus.

The reason it will happen again is the same as the reason it happened this time.

You won't make ******n sure it won't happen again for at least a hundred years by making those who did it this time pay for it in a form and fashion such that nobody will contemplate it because everyone, and all of their children, will remember the cost and thus be unwilling to engage in such acts in the future.

A couple of years ago I was talking to my doctor about Vitamin D and he mentioned that Detroit (lots of dark-skinned people and lots of clouds) had the highest incidence of rickets in either the US or the world (I don't recall which).

Note that the Detroit metro area also had a very high WuFlu incidence rate.

Reason: More details.

Well said.

I am beginning to wonder if the deficiency South of the Border is not also due to diet as it has been found that sun exposure while good is not sufficient for Vit D production. Our SOTB friends are not an especially healthy lot, lots of pre-diabetes, and obesity and the worst of a peasant diet mixed with modern garbage carbs.

Vit D along with C is also strongly implicated in cancer prevention.

The sunscreen chemical industry has probably done more damage to health with regards to cancer by both blocking, encouraging bad sun habits and exposure to toxic chemicals. Kind of similar to how COVID-BS went down.

I have a pretty good idea of how this business concept would work. In a similar vein to some outreach i did years ago. Like Karl, it will not be something which i develop.

I think the expression is, "Pearls before swine".

This reinforces the Israel study that showed with the high levels of Vitamin D, even if you got the Fauci Flu, you didn't get hammered by it.

Vitamin D is literally free. All it takes is spending a lot of time outside with as little clothing as possible. Of course, this runs counter to the advice of the "experts", which is as follows:

Avoid sun exposure
If you have to get sun exposure, make sure to avoid midday
Wear a hat
Wear a long sleeve shirt
Put nasty chemicals all over your skin to block the sun

Count me in as an investor if you change your mind.
I have a question and I was wondering your opinion. I have a 3 yr. old grandson who has hemophilia. It's currently treated quite well with Factor VIII, but there's always the possibility of needing a blood transfusion. I have the same blood type, A+. How safe do you think the blood supply is with the vaccine prevalence? Is it worth looking into autologous blood storage or am I just paranoid? And how about pureblood blood storage for a business, lol? I've seen speculation here in the comments that pureblood may soon be worth a fortune.

One thing missing from this study, as with all studies I have seen on Vitamin D, is breaking down how you got the Vitamin D: from dietary sources, pills, or from the sun. I suspect that a Vitamin D level of 50 gotten from the sun is "better" than a level of 50 from pills, simply because I recall reading that you get other stuff from the sun. This would be a really simple study to do, with very interesting results, but they won't do it since they don't want to cure anything. The medical establishment wants you broke, sick, and addicted. No different than a crack dealer.

My business idea is to sell leather collars with "I do what I am told" written on them, and inflatable butt plugs that can be remote controlled by the CDC.

There would be quite a market given the observed levels of submission over the last two years.

I mentioned before on here that I get semi-regular bloodwork done due to some screwed up physiology. Straight out of the blue one day last summer my numbers came back and revealed I had a vitamin D deficiency......I didn't even know that was part of the screening, and I've NEVER had an issue with it before in my life (unlike several other things I've been dealing with for years). Mind you, also, that this was the dead of summer, not winter, and I basically live outside unless I'm at work. How very peculiar. Doc put me on an Rx D supplement that I take once a week, and it costs pennies. I did get covid later on this past winter, but it was a nothingburger. I've been taking C, D, zinc and quercertin for the last 12+ months.

Things that make you go hmmmm.....

My first guess would be something involving UVB broadband lamps.

Also, there was something I saw many years ago that made use of metal plates exposed to sunlight that had a low resistance electrical connection routed into a room to another plate suspended over plants and provided [supposedly] the sun nutrients to the plants. At the time I did not experiment with this. Would it work? Maybe its worth a try.

Before I moved to Astoria, Oregon for a few years, friends told me to get a "sunshine light" as this would keep you from feeling down during the winter months without much sunshine. I met a physician who did a study that showed correlation of low vitamin D levels and increased levels of depression. How much money can big pharma and medicine make from promoting more sun exposure and higher intake of vitamin D? How much income do the drug makers/pushers make from selling Cymbalta, Zoloft, and Wellbutrin and a long list of anti-depressants every year?
Wasn't Bill Gates trying to figure out how to charge the Swedes for sunshine?

An addition to my comment concerning UVB broadband sources. Photons can be stored in water. How about a source of UVB or even UVA flooding bottles of water [possibly distilled] for whatever period of time that seems to work, then using that 'treated' water to drink.

Whitehat made an interesting comment about south of the border people that, in theory, would get more sunlight and thus D, but seem to have health difficulties anyway possibly due to diet. I know Hispanics consume a lot of carb based foods such as tacos, etc. In my world I try hard to balance carb and protein levels. The zone eating system, if you are diligent with it, helps a lot with this.

KD guillotines. That's awesome! Throw a sign making/bumpersticker biz of "I Told You So" in with that and you might have quite the cash cow.

Another good idea mentioned above of pure blood banks. I'd suggest pure sperm banks too along with that model. Another cash cow possibility.

Terrific essay Karl as usual. I can report that the most hardened branch covidians in my insignificant world continue to remain steadfast in their stupidity and arrogance. My little sister is one of those. She tells me of an elderly friend of hers who is having major heart problems "all of a sudden." I asked what they think it is. Multiple docs have said they just don't know. I just said very seinfeldian like: "That's a shame." Point is those people will never let go. They will continue until they're dead and I don't care.

Vitamin D is a great example of how worthless public "health" and most doctors are for prevention. Before COVID, I had only a vague idea that lack of D was somewhat of an issue. As Karl notes, it is beneficial for preventing all kinds of flu/colds. This should have been standard recommendations for anyone in the north. In mid 2020 found I was in the 30's, which is considered ok by "health" but most that recommend say something like 50-70 is better. I have been supplementing since and recently was at 59. Now I did not typically get sick a lot, but minor colds here and there were not unusual, but since I started on the D the only illness I have had over the last 2 years was a very mild COVID in early February. Until Feb, I was also regularly taking zinc, quercetin, and C. Still taking some, but not every day now.

Regarding @Bluto's comment
I suspect that a Vitamin D level of 50 gotten from the sun is "better" than a level of 50 from pills, simply because I recall reading that you get other stuff from the sun.
Ivor Cummins recently had an interview with Stephen Hussey in which they discussed evidence that sunlight is beneficial to health apart from vitamin D due to how it affects water in the blood. I think it is covered in his book Understanding the Heart, which I think would also address many of the other diet issues discussed here. Here is a specific blog post regarding how this works with infrared light.

The Royal Navy had "flogging around the fleet" as a punishment. Miscreants were taken aboard every single ship that had a rating and given a couple dozen in front of the assembled crew.
I'd like to propose a similar punishment: Flogging Around the Nation. The condemned are shackled to the back of a manure spreader and dragged into every single settlement with a population of...say...5000 or greater and given two dozen in the center (or other appropriate location) in front of the assembled residents.

Know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin command here.

Curiously, simple treatments available to everyone were available at the start of Covid, Vitamin D and losing weight. Where were these messages from public health officials? These should have been the top messages from the beginning, strengthening the immune system, especially since the claim at the beginning is not much was known about Covid. Either our public health officials were / are incompetent or they purposely conducted an evil experiment on the entire world. For the former, all should be fired and for the latter all should be tried and punished for their crimes. It is unacceptable that they continue in their current roles.

Regarding vitamin D uptake from skin exposed to sunlight:

I have read that washing the skin within hours after sun exposure will remove the skin oils needed to convert the exposure to a vitamin D substance which needs to be re-absorbed into the skin for the conversion to take place.

I have forgotten the exact mechanism by which this occurs, but I'm sure some of you here will be familiar with it. Seems that in our shower-happy culture, the skin oils do not have a chance to be reabsorbed before we merrily wash them down the drain with soap and water.
