@Badatusernames your calling it gene therapy reminds me that the go to "expert" on COVID for my local Fox affiliate who claims to have had it last March was on a couple days ago incredulous anyone would dare call the vaccines that.

Breakthroughs in physics will take care of themselves, if it is to be.

Right now you're living in a place that is about three minutes, evolution-wise, from monkeys in trees.

There won't be meaningful progress towards the planets or stars as long as there is this level of infighting amongst the residents of this planet.

Look anywhere; please prove me wrong.

Star Trek is the aspiration; pick any one of a hundred dystopian outcomes that are much more likely to be realized because we can't work together, keep killing ourselves and our neighbors, and this is by design and encouraged by the psychopaths running humanity.

A few for consideration from recent memory:

The Omega Man/I Am Legend
Altas Shrugged
1984
Book of Eli
Children of Men
V for Vendetta
Elysium
Idiocracy

Mr. Denninger,

As a physician, I could not agree with your post more.

One thing that you did not mention - and is being blissfully ignored by our national media is the complete circumvention of our well-established ethical and moral experimenting systems for new drugs.

This is something that is not intuitively obvious to most people. I would like to state without hesitation that for our pharmaceutical industry there is far more going on than just this vaccine.

One of the fundamental protections that patients and research subjects have is the oversight of what is called the Institutional Review Board. These are set up at every major research site and consist of not only medical personnel but also clergy and community members.

They oversee any and all complications, deaths, side effects, what have you of anything being researched. This system has served this country so well for decades and is one of the reasons we had a golden age of medicine.

The IRB system as you may imagine is a complete pain in the ass for Big Pharma. They are essentially, with these vaccines, doing a country-wide Phase III trial with absolutely none of the usual local oversight secondary to these EUAs. So when I have patients with severe side effects to these vaccines, I have no one local overseeing this.

Big Pharma has enormous vested interest to make sure that "everything is perfect" with these vaccines. Surely, all can see why - this wonderful vaccine did so beautifully and did not require any IRB oversight - why do we need to bother with this in the future - all this stuff just needs to go away.

I cannot tell you how scary this whole situation is to those who wish to practice in an ethical and moral way. I have never felt the fear I do right now for the future of my profession. This whole IRB system was built and maintained by our grandparents' generation to prevent horrors like Dr. Mengele from ever happening again.

As you have so completely pointed out, the credibility of medicine and public health is hanging by a very tiny thread right now. There is no room for error. If badness begins to happen, I am not sure my profession will survive.

Darwin knew as weaker plants and animals died off stronger strains prospered. Already we hear of booster vaccine shots as the South African variant is not controlled as well as the Wuhan covid strain. Selecting, through pharmacology, would seem to have an end point of either extinction or mass death.

A few questions.. as polio and smallpox were know in antiquity is there advantage in finding a vaccine for a more mature viral strain vs one considered new and novel?
Does a viral strain actually mature or self-extinguish by killing off all hosts?

I've followed the Ticker's coverage of Covid from the very beginning. Based on this coverage and my own research, I decided over a year ago that Covid was nothing more than another version of the flu. KD's early analysis of the Diamond Princess is still decisive in my mind. Over a year ago I read convincing articles elsewhere that intake of certain vitamins was a decent way to fortify my immune system and protect myself.

I remember reading Neil Ferguson's hysterical predictions which immediately gave me pause. Then, a few days later I read an article published by Oxford modelers that mercilessly criticized Ferguson's model, saying it was shabbily done and that it wildly overstated the impact of Covid. The Oxford criticism was logical and persuasive.

But that didn't stop the powers that be. The political hype started. Latching on to Ferguson's model, the WHO, the CDC, the media, Bill Gates and his cronies, and the Trump administration began their propaganda spectacles. Ferguson's model was hyped, the Oxford criticism was buried, Trump, Fauci and Birx began their daily dog and pony show. Trump called Covid the Invisible Enemy, announced Operation Warp Speed and invoked the War Powers Act to build hundreds of thousands of ventilators, which I knew from reading KD's early, trenchant analysis of China's Covid experience was absolutely misguided. Trump repeated the Ferguson lie over and over again, saying that he had to intervene or two million Americans would die of Covid.

Then the infamous "15 days to slow the spread." When Trump backed off of his plan to reopen the country on Easter, it was game on. The rest is history: masks, social distancing, cardboard cutouts in sports venues, the wholesale closing of schools, bars and restaurants, the New Normal, vaccine passports and so forth. The nation's ill-advised and propaganda-driven obsession with Covid continues to this day, as KD expertly outlines in this Ticker.

What I find remarkable about this entire saga is that the political propagandists were able to successfully leverage the vast number of nursing home deaths to instill a blinding fear into the rest of the population which, if it had been paying attention, was barely affected by and had little to fear from the disease (barring co-morbidities).

I'm 73 years old. My dad and mom lived to their mid-80's. However, the last six years of their lives were spent in nursing homes. My dad, an independent personality, hated every minute of the experience. He would have regarded a Covid-driven pneumonia-death as his friend.

Don't misunderstand. I don't dismiss or excuse the criminal actions of politicians like Gov. Cuomo with regard to nursing home deaths. My point is that death is inevitable and we must all make our own piece with it, on our own terms. I'm in relatively good health, my immune system is fortified and therapies like Ivermectin are available. Assuming I'll be ready for the nursing home in another six years or so, why should I chance disrupting these last six years of quality of life by taking a flyer on this experimental gene therapy? What will it buy me?

I think it is a totally rational decision on my part to live life unafraid as long as I can. Something is going to kill me sooner or later. Hopefully that "something" will happen before I'm consigned to die slowly in a nursing home. If it's Covid, so be it.

If this nation sinks to the barbarous level and mandates that every American take the Covid gene therapy jab, I will resist but not on the basis of "following the science" or "playing the odds." I will resist on the basis that it is my God-given right to live free and decide for myself.

That used to be what America was all about.

Tsherry - pretty much. I have zero hope that any of the positive future sci-fi will come to pass. Hell, we're already living in what amounts to a literal cyberpunk dystopia, it's only going to get worse.

Also, you missed the one that's probably the most accurate out of them all: Demolition Man. Critical Drinker on Youtube did a great video on this movie and how it parallels our current society.

Last year I would never have believed that 2021 would be worse impact on our lives due to COVID19 than 2020 but that is the way it is looking with our idiot leaders all over the world.

The way things are going with vaccines is setting up to be a colossal cluster ****. Forcing billions to take a vaccine using a new medical approach without any serious attempt to understand safety for different groups for a disease that while pretty serious for some groups on the whole isn't that much worse than a bad flu season. There is also clear obstruction for various reasons in using known drugs with very well understood safety profiles that could reduce the impact of this disease.

The reality for many of us wanting to re-engage in the world and travel there might be no choice but to take a vaccine. You only have one life to live and it makes no sense to me having a Pyrrhic victory refusing to take a vaccine. The problem I see happening is there is not the slightest chance of coming up with a global system to prove you took a vaccine in the next 5 years if ever. Say Australia opens up but you need a vaccine how on earth will I be able to prove to them that I did? The potential costs in play if I book an international vacation and get denied entry are huge. This whole approach is going to destroy the entire global travel industry. The longer this drags on how many businesses in the travel sector can possibly survive.

The UK is threatening a 10 year prison sentence for someone lying about which countries they had visited on entry to UK. Apparently half of UK population support that approach.******without aggravating factors in UK is always less than 10 years. The panic porn approach by leaders all over the world is just astonishing.

Let's face it: If we were a civilization discovered by the Enterprise on a Star Trek episode, we would rank among the Cardassians the Romulans, and the Borg.

@Tsherry, it doesn't seem to be a coincidence that most of the movies on your list, and most really "good" movies in general, never seem to be available on Amazon Prime, Netflix, or Hulu.

I've gone back to using Netflix DVD service for that reason. Not every older or obscure or stellar movie is available, and one must be patient for the arrival of snail mail, but it is worth every penny.

I always get pushback (at least in online forums) on the asymptomatic transmission thing - someone always brings up pre-symptomatic, saying that's the true culprit. People are apparently wildly contagious during the pre-symptomatic phase and they don't know it (so they say), therefore everyone must wear masks. (Of course, the assumption from those throwing up this defense, is that masks actually work.)

@Reformedhippy - lol, no we wouldn't. Those empires are competent and don't spend all their time whining about irrelevant garbage.

We'd be more like a pre-warp civilisation the Federation considers too dangerous to allow off their planet under any circumstances, ever. As much as the Federation is all about bringing in new species as members, sometimes you just have to do what's best for everyone and say NO. They're open to new entrants, but they're not stupid ;p

Well... they weren't. Then Kurtzman Trek came along. That's a stupid show made by stupid people for people they believe to be as stupid as they are.

@Radiosity, point, and probably one of the better rationales for reconciling the Fermi paradox. Sad that so many of us grew up watching those first few series and imagining that one day we would advance to create our own Star Fleet, to discover instead that we have been devolving into a civilization not worth the contact.

30% of the workforce need to stash away supplies for 1 month, and then we have a 1 month general strike from working. Perfectly legal and peaceful. No one can force anyone to work.

@Tickerguy thanks for citing this article in your Ticker. It was long and dry and slow but I read the whole thing. https://www.aier.org/article/masking-a-c....

I shared it on Twitter quite a bit and will spread it on other platforms later.

I haven't gone back to look but I'm pretty certain that WHO review was cited by a true believer as a counter to information I shared a few days ago. Interesting that scientists have now called for its retraction.

"You know that wearing this mask through the next year here can save lives, a significant number of lives," Biden says:

Faux Xi chimed in: "I think were going to be wearing masks for several, several months into the future."

I'm concerned about Antibody Dependent Enhancement. But I'm more concerned about what's going to be added to those vaccines in 1-2 years, after they are accepted and have FDA approval.. That's when the real depopulation will happen.

The article in question is a claimed construction of wishes and fishes. A supposed phone convo between Yaun Hung Lo Desantis and Traitor Joe transcript.

There is that version and another more like a real news story posted at a site.

Jack Posobiec (ex navy mil intel, speaks fluent Chinaman, etc.) He appears on Warroom and other places, buddies with Raheem Kassam (best google Raheem for his bio)

Jack Poso tweeted earlier that it was BS, Poso is known to do odd things. Like being Pro Trump, yet getting caught at a Trump rally (before the election), holding a sign. "Melania is a *****". I have seen the video, and that sure looks like Poso. He has tried to deny it, no one buys it.

However I can see Desantis getting down with it, or hope he does.

TX and FL. showing some backbone. TN not so much so far.
