Just my opinion. Looks like the virus spreads in closed spaces where air just stays (no air extraction), people get a big dose in their lungs over a period of time. Distance, headdiapers, cleaning all doesn't significantly matter. OUtside same but opposite; no infections. Using ordinary masks is like trying blocking musquitoes with chickenwire.
Overhere usually 3 to 6k deaths yearly caused by flu. This year ~400 ..

I followed people who I thought were critical thinkers. Most of them fell through, that's disappointing.
Not Karl btw.

@Michelj - A huge number of Covid deaths are co-infections with flu; which killed them? No idea, but the CDC has cross-coding all over the place which strongly implies we had a NASTY flu season last year and they shoved a bunch of flu deaths into the Covid bucket.

I can't prove it, but that's what the data suggests.`

That's certainly not all of it -- there is excess mortality in the data. But how much? Tough to know until it's all in at the end of the year.

CDC says new guidance on airborne coronavirus transmission was posted in error
Quote:
On Friday, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) posted an update to guidance on COVID-19 that said the virus could be spread through the air through aerosolized droplets.

On Monday, the CDC walked back the update, claiming it was posted erroneously.

For whatever reason, I wanted to get a sense of how airlines were doing now that we're 6 months in. The answer - not too well.

I knew that travel was down as I live on the flight path for RDU and the planes simply aren't taking off and landing. Pre Covid, it was like clockwork. Every morning, beginning at 05:45 planes would begin taking off at the rate of roughly one every three minutes. Now, if I see 20 a day it's a lot.

https://www.tsa.gov/coronavirus/passenge....

The statistics paint a VERY ugly picture - air travel is only 25% of what it was pre Covid. The airlines will be toast in another 6 months, assuming they already aren't on the verge of outright collapse. It's sad that most of America still can;t see what's staring them right in the face - we're in GD2 and things are only just getting started.

Actually the average for the month of September through yesterday is closer to 33% what it was in 2019.

And look at the bright side. The number of people flying now is 6-1/2 times the number that were flying in April. smiley

On my August trip back from Oregon I changed planes in SLC for the flight into Atlanta. It was a 757 with a capacity of about 300. There wasn't much more than 50 passengers on the plane. I had a row of 3 seats to myself and nobody was in the row in front of me. Guess they needed the big jet in Atlanta as they certainly can't make money at less than 25% capacity.

OK, got another possible theory on masks that I'd like an opinion on if anyone can give me one.

Mask are in effect a check valve that lets dry airborne respiratory virus in but not out.
dry light viron float inward through the mask until they become attached to moisture within the body. Once attached to moisture or while being shed, most will be caught by the mask. Upon drying in the mask material they again will pass either way.

Just want to know if this is plausible or way off track.
Feel free to chime in.

Not very likely.

However, one big problem is liberation as water evaporates from a droplet. That is a very real issue and likely why nothing less than an N95 works.
