Something that I've been wondering about...I saw the Texas governor change the rules to allow for the restaurants to be able to sell their food retail...

But given the cruise ship model wouldn't this lead to an increase in cases? I mean have you see who typically works in the back of restaurants? While the establishment itself may be 'clean' and I use that in quotes for a reason, the people that are actually doing the work in the back are not exactly the 1% of the first world.

What I'm saying is, if the service staff was the vector on the cruise ships, then the restaurant staff in the cities will be the vector as well.

It probably will be @Orangemanbadeh.

The amount of distribution that can happen in such a situation is outrageously large and concentrated too.

Yeah, the takeout / delivery thing concerns me too. Gave in and ordered a pizza last weekend, delivery. Took the thing out of the box, put it in a 170 degF oven for 1/2 hr, threw box in (outside) trash. Washed hands, peroxide on the kitchen counter where the box was. Hope it was sufficient!

In all fairness, he just as likely caught it eating ass at the ole gloryhole. Same premise, different delivery method.

Don't wish for something as YOU may very well get it!

However, a couple guys wrote a book 20 odd years ago titled - The Fourth Turning. On the net easily found articles and sites regarding that title; each of the previous three 4th Turnings (1789, 1863, 1944) ended in WAR immediately preceded by a CRISIS. I have called Covid-19 the TRIP WIRE that initiated this 4th Turning CRISIS. I understand the U.S. economy is down 20% or so. My understanding the economist consider a fall of 20% a depression, 1929 immediately preceded 1944. Just saying

Yeah the problem with governments when backed into a sufficiently-nasty corner is that they often come out shooting.

In that regard they behave like most cornered animals.

Prior to being Regular Commissioned as a 2Lt out of Santa Clara University ROTC and finishing Airborne, Ranger and Field Artillery Officer Basic course in the spring of 1972, I, being a Regular Army Officer, could select my initial duty post - Vietnam or West Germany - absolutely no doubt - Pinder Barracks, Zirdorf, W. Germany for this boy!

We're right at the Fourth Turning, in terms of timeframe. It's every 80ish years. And, yes, this absolutely could be the triggering event. I've been considering that for several weeks now, and it's one of the many reasons I've been pleading NOT to purposely throw us into a Depression.

The last one was ugly as hell, and took a REALLY nasty World War to fully pull us out of it. Government continually did stupid **** to prolong and/worsen that damn thing (thanks FDR, you *******).

It also gave us that ever-be-damned abortion called the NFA of 1934. I don't think we'll get off that "lightly" this time around.

Yeah. Many people thought 2008 was "the crisis". This makes that look like a smiley

Colorado guv pollock has decreed that pot shops and liquor stores are considered critical retail and WILL remain open during the lock down after MASSIVE public outrage.
You just can't make this **** up.

Well you definitely want people stoned as I've yet to see a stoned person get particularly violent -- never mind their loss of effectiveness if they do.

The LAST thing you want is a bunch of angry people who decide to go hunting or worse, play "behind every blade of grass."

And I'm not talking about the grass that goes in a joint either.

Back to ****-eating, I've always considered restaurant dining to be similar to the kids playing outside in the mud and building immunity from all the dirt eating. That meal you ordered probably has all kinds of **** in it that isn't the actual food you ordered, but what doesn't kill me makes me stronger!

I've been in the kitchens of a lot - many very classy places and watched the people work. All those hand sinks all over a commercial kitchen that the health department requires might as well be there for decoration. Not used regularly and sure as **** not the 20 second hand was rule. And kitchen line staff is almost universally **** eaters.

Oh, and those open kitchen places aren't any better, even though the kitchen staff are technically on display. Takeout only? Nobody is watching them. If the local health dept. is shut down I assume that includes food safety inspections. Recipe for disaster in spreading the virus. But takeout at best can cover 20% of regular revenue. They're all done sans the major national chains.

I've always found restaurants biologically suspect as well as economically dubious for both worker and customer, ever since I worked in one. So you'll forgive, I hope, my finding it hard to bemoan their closing by the health nazis. Still, I think that people should be allowed to choose for themselves whether to take that risk.
