The left wants you to.

They tell us that "body positivity" includes being outrageously obese.

That criticizing, "shaming", or even mentioning that this is an entirely self-inflicted problem and can be fixed without a single medical intervention of any sort is within the reach of virtually every person so-affected constitutes "abuse" -- or worse.  Many if not most leftists even want to criminalize such commentary, First Amendment be damned.

It really is simple: Stop eating carbs.

Do you know why you need to fix this problem?

  • You are debilitated by being fat -- right now.  You can do less.  You can not run nearly as far, or as fast -- if you can run at all.  Your heart is working harder than it should be, since it is pumping blood through more tissue than it was designed for.  Your lungs are working harder.  Your kidneys are working harder.  Failure of any of those organs will kill you.  Then there are all the other parts of your body you are damaging (specifically your knees, hips and ankles) which won't kill you but can cripple you with age.  While joint replacement is possible with today's technology it's both expensive and the recovery is daunting -- just contemplate what has to be done in that bone must be sawed open and the artificial replacement put in place of the damaged parts.

  • You are insulin-compromised.  Over time this has a very high probability of causing Type II diabetes.  If you aren't diabetic now you will be.  If you stop eating carbs if you are headed for diabetes you will likely halt that entirely.  If you are Type II diabetic now and stop eating carbs you may in fact reverse your high blood sugar entirely, along with ceasing the accumulation of damage that high blood sugar causes.  In some cases your body may be able to repair that damage over time.  If you wait too long and the damage gets too advanced then there's nothing, literally, you can do about it.  The damage path for diabetes includes gangrene, amputations, blindness and ultimately kidney failure and death.  It is a very unpleasant way to die.

  • Eating tasty animals is not only good for you it tastes good.  Not being hungry when you wake up until noon or later makes maintenance trivially simple since you will only want to eat once a day.  You will stop being a slave to the refrigerator and all the crap you formerly had in it.

  • You will get more fiber, not less, by changing what you eat.  Green vegetables, especially cruciferous ones such as broccoli, kale, brussels sprouts, collard greens and similar are very rich in both vitamin C and fiber.  Their balance between usable nutrients your body can absorb per calorie of content is extraordinarily favorable.  It's trivially easy to get many times your Vitamin C requirement from these while consuming only a couple hundred calories.  As just one example Broccoli contains just 30 calories in one cup of florets, yet it contains 135% of your Vitamin C requirement and 116% of Vitamin K needs and close to 10% of your daily fiber recommendation, yet it has only 3.5 net (digestible) carbohydrates.

  • Your immune system will improve.  Do you think that might be important given Coronavirus?  I presume you'd rather be alive than dead, yes?

About four years ago I wrote what may be my seminal piece on this called Demolishing Lies on Low Carb Eating.  Instead of subscribing to the left's virtue signalling on being fat choose to tell them to go **** a goat.  Let's be blunt about this: The Left's virtue-signalling about "beautiful at any size" and similar claptrap in fact is a recipe for disease, disability and death and those on the left pushing this bull**** know it.

They'd rather see you six feet under, eaten by snakes and worms, than be truthful not only with but with themselves as well.

You triggered a memory. Decades ago I told a friend who worked a fairly low income job - warehouse man in a shoe company - that I didn't see how he could make ends meet with two kids on those wages. He was one of these people who were scared to upset the status quo unless he was forced.
His reply was that you eat a lot more bread instead of meat.
Right now he is diabetic and is concerned because his toes are rotting and they can't get it under control. But he sent me a wonderful recipe for making fried potatoes nice and crispy yesterday...

I've lost track if I've been hfmplc for 3 or 4 yours now because of Karl's challenge.

This 'diet' works. It isn't a fad. The best part, for me, along with a slim waistline, is that it gives one a kick-ass attitude. Cage fighting? I can do this. Seeing what's on top of that mtn? I can do this? Auto repair? I can do this. Haven't had a bite to eat in 12 hours? BFD, I can go another six.

I feel f'n unstoppable.

And I think we can put the 'gotta carb up before a meet/match/whatever' in the grave now.

Karl, thank you for this stern reminder. I was doing so well with my sugar addiction but have allowed it to creep back in.

Sugar is evil and one of the women I work with is also evil. Bringing in her kids Halloween candy, pastries, donuts and whatever.

I feel so much better without the weight and we are only talking about an extra 5 lbs and it wreaks havoc on my body. I can feel the difference on only an extra 5 lbs! Need to lose 10 to 15 again and I know what to do it's worked before. There are no excuses for anybody!

I have to give Karl credit, his advice on keto has completely changed my health and lifestyle. Especially the part about appetite control.

I skiied Utah powder from open to close yesterday. 7 hours straight, eating nothing. Not once did I feel hungry. I didn't eat till 5pm, and no problems. Before keto that would have been unthinkable. Hell of a thing.

Look Forks - Nuetra-System, Slym-Fat, and a whole host, no an entire billion dollar industry, will sell to you what Karl just said. The big difference is you get to Buy their books, or products. Karl's information is free. They will sell you a meal plan, Karl's you get for free. They will sell you a tracking program, Karl's you get for free.

If you do manage to lose weight using a store bought program, your insurance company will NOT give you any breaks on your deductible, co-pay or yearly costs. They do NOT care if you get more healthy, in fact they WANT you sick, overweight and in poor health.

If you do manage to improve your health using an industry produced weight loss program, there is a good chance your doctor will question the results and it is not because he/she cares about you individually.

If, (Sad to say) more likely When you fail the off the self, pre-package program and start gaining the weight again and becoming more sedentary again the company that sold you the program won't care about how you are doing, but they will care about selling you more of their product.

You take Karl's above wisdom and diligently incorporate it into your life. Karl makes how much?????? Yea Zero!

If you do your own homework and figure out exactly what he means by "Stop Eating Carbs" and you are able to implement it in your life for 2-3 weeks, just enuff time(Depending on your health level) to start noticing a difference, but end up going to Aunt Sally's Birthday party where you consume half a chocolate cake. It's on YOU to over come that derailment. Next time you might make it a couple months, just enuff time (Again depending on your health level) for others to start truly noticing that you look, sound and act more healthy. However you get derailed again and order a pint of every flavor ice-cream from Baskin's and Robbin and eat it all. It is up to YOU to put that in your rear view mirror and continue down the right path for YOUR health.

Life is life, obstetrical come, and we are hit with trials and we live in America, where it is way too easy to drown our sorrows in fast carbs. But High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)is all but indistinguishable to your body then alcohol, you just wont get drunk. This means your body, does and will crave if. It means your brain and your mind will make any excuse, tell any lie it can to you and others to get it into your body.

The food industry knows this, the insurance industry knows this, the doctoring industry knows this and most certainly the Diet Industry knows this. But their financial health is based upon you choosing to be fat, unhealthy and miserable. They want your money and the best way for them to steal it, is to steal your health, so that you are dependent on them.

Much of the pathway Karl is pointing folks to, can be found for free on the internet or a few dollars at a book store, and exactly how much of those proceeds end up in Karl's pocket? Yea, Zero!

We grow up know "Nothing is for free" so it goes against our nature to think someone would stand diligently and tirelessly, by a pathway, saying: "Your health, your well being, your children's future is down this path" And doing it for FREE!!!

Sadly many will not stop to do their own due diligence, but will be happy to rely on the information being sold to them.

A couple months ago I was at Walmart, pushing my cart, when an older obese lady who was riding in an electric cart, comes from a different isles, puts up her hand in a stopping motion so that she could cut off my rightful path way. When she was directly in front of me, I told her I wish I could be fat like her, so that I had the right to be rude like her (Thanks to Karl and the other posters here that have not only given me the courage to call out this type of behavior, but more importantly letting me KNOW I am right in doing so.) The look of disgust and indignation on that woman's face was priceless.

Being over weight is mostly a choice, being obesely fat is ALWAYS a choice. Destroying your knees, hips and mind because you over eat is a choice. If you are mostly the size and weight Nature (God) intended, you would not strap on a 15 pound bowling ball to walk around with it every day, so if you are 20-40-100 or more pounds over weight, why would you choose to carry around all those bowling balls?

All you have to do is be willing to read for yourself and decide you want a better life for yourself and your loved ones. Karl's insight if free, so are the multitude of actual resource on how to get carbs out of your life. No one is saying the first steps will be fun or easy, but once you gain your health back it WILL be worth the effort. Or you can stay a slave to they system.

FYI - Karl's Free Meal Plan is called Do your own research. Karl's Free Tracking Program is call Will Power. Both will make YOU a better person.

i can't begin to tell you how many conditions are improved by going high fat and basically eliminating all white carbs. the only good carb is one that is in a green vegetable.

high fat has curative effects and is even documented as completely controlling severe epilepsy as in off all meds and no more near constant seizures. i am convinced that with athletes who are suffering from head injury effects in later life it is partially due to the body's ability to heal neurological damage being compromised by lack of fat based compounds. a lot of athletes in these professions are rather obese looking unlike in the past, wonder why, and they could have the vascular disease as a precursor to mini stroke and other brain circulation issues. let's not not forget that diabetic and pre-diabetic conditions are precursors to dementia diseases, and that the brain needs ketones for its metabolic processes and neurotransmitters.

actually one of the reasons that i am cautious concerning marijuana as a medicine for these and other conditions. if it is an analgesic, it might keep one from finding an actual cure or effective mitigation. treating symptoms only is a big problem in medicine. just got a friend with MS off the weed thing and used high fat with other compliments to get her off major doses of pharma. she was always trying to get me to try weed for my issues. can't, federal license stuff. used it as a way to open the conversation.

in a nutshell fat is good for you and can heal the body. we have a people who are essentially starving. i think that it is worse for women. under the carb based diet, they have to starve themselves to have a proper figure. low fat deprives them of hormone building blocks leading to mental misery. then after their prime years they just give in as they cannot take it anymore. no woman that i know on low carb since youth ever got fat in middle to later years.

gotta add, eating high fat, low carb is not will power. it is just too enjoyable. the high carb stuff that we are not supposed to eat looks like **** to me.

what i think happens with the confectionery and creamy sugar stuff is that the taste and texture somehow make the body think that you are eating something fatty. when you do not get it, the body makes an association with the wrong food, craving more as if you just did not get enough.

Serious question: Are the owners/editors of SI insane or stupid or both???

I don't want to get into how unhealthy that is (others have covered that better than I could). However, I, and I assume most males (who constitute the primary readership for SI), feel repulsed by the beached whale in the pic. Having such a pic in the magazine is probably self-affirming for the woman, makes her feel good about herself, etc. However, from a business perspective, SI should be concentrating on the interests, desires, feelings, etc. of their readers, NOT the feelings of a particular fat, ugly "model".

I have to believe that any effect on circulation (and profits) due to inclusion of fat, ugly women is strongly negative. Once again, it seems as if mainstream business entities are willing to sacrifice the financial interests of the business on the altar of SJWism.

What gives? Why are business people making such decisions? Why aren't shareholders up in arms about these things?

@Peterm99 -- every person is afraid to stand his ground. this is all fear based. from the doctor who would not dare to tell his patient about HFLC even though he knows it works to the owners of Sports Illustrated, every one of these types fears social disapproval and ultimate loss of position, often income.

btw: most fear is irrational. this is why it is so effective.

Over the past 30 years or so I've accumulated a lot of extra weight. Early on I would work some of it off with a lot of exercise and trying to eat like what "health" experts would say.

I've been telling my doctor for a few years now that I know what I have to do to lose it (cut the carbs, high fat, etc), and have had some success, but then I lapse and end back up at square one. I've also been considered "pre" diabetic for a while.

But it wasn't until my "pre" diabetic number started to creep up this past year that I finally just had it. It's taken a couple of false starts, and I came to the realization that it isn't that I simply had to change my diet, but I had to break my addiction to many foods. The past couple of months have been a real eye opener as far as what I'm addicted to, not unlike being addicted to something like tobacco and what have you.

Bottom line is, it is a lifestyle change, not a diet, and until you realize that what you are currently eating is an addiction and you need to treat it as such, you won't lose the weight. No one can force you to. You and you alone have to come to that realization. And until you do, you probably will continue with the status quo. I have, even knowing what I *should* be eating. And yes it doesn't help that mainstream says "more carbs, less fat or fat free".

An aside: I did a Google search a couple of weeks ago (search term was "food diabetics should not eat" or something similar, cannot remember). One of the links was to a Mayo Clinic page that talked about how you should get 65% of your calories from carbs if you are diabetic. So what they suggest is 65% carbs, 20% protien, and 15% fat. Its no wonder why people can't lose weight. Not only are they addicted to the wrong types of food, the medical industry accommodates it hook line and sinker.

A couple of books I recommend on the topic: "Grain Brain" and "Wheat Belly". Its good to see some medical professionals start to make noise about the issue, but the noise right now is statistically insignificant.

I'll close with an observation I noted when in Hong Kong about 10 years ago. There weren't many fat people, nowhere near the number you'd see in a US city of comparable size, such as New York. It was one of the first things I observed as I walked around various parts of Hong Kong. I wonder why....

Whitehat - I would like to challenge your "eating high fat, low carb, is not will power" statement.

We live in a world of lies, they start when our parents don't allow critical thinking. They continue through false information in the ads we see. The school system gives "Free" lunches based on the lie of the food pyramid. Our friends family and society tells us we need to eat carbs. It becomes ingrained in our psyche, our habits and our culture.

There is no industry out there that will support our choice to eat a high fat diet. Health Care is based off making fat sick people healthy. They want us fat and sick. Insurance is stealing us blind because too many people think they can eat whatever they want as they wait patently for the magic Skinny Pill. And the food industry certainly wants us consuming more food, therefore they put fast carbs into EVERYTHING.

I am not saying once you understand the lies, and learn what the benefits to eating correctly are that it doesn't become much easier to get on and stay on that path. But it does take most people some effort to get there and stay there. And falling off the wagon is not the end of the world, only a mistep along the jurney.

I do believe it takes great will power for most to start the process. However with time it becomes much easier as you can actually feel the ickiness of overloading on fast carbs. And once people realize they are poisening themselves the will power becomes a new culture.

Anyway that is my 2 cents, please do not spend them all in one place.

Wife is pre diabetic (genetic, not weight). Her doc said the same, and the numbers kept climbing. Bought a smoker, and she lost 10 pounds and brought the A1C down (I still need to cut out more sugar!).

Doc was PISSED. Said that she was killing her kidneys by eating to much fat/protein, and that if she continued, doc would not treat her.

So we are looking for another doc.

Im in Puerto Vallarta at a beachfront resort and looking around absolutely positively everybody is overweight some morbidly so. Granted most are fairly old. I would say that at age 52 Im in the younger half of the people here but still its pretty bad.

Im 73 @ 177#. BMI=23.3
Wife 64 @117#. BMI=20.1

BMI doesnt tell the whole tale but it does get the conversation started in the right direction. It just seems that around here, if I were to run the numbers on everyone that Im seeing it would be in the extraordinarily unhealthy range.

Its not like people are poverty stricken here. They obviously have enough disposable income to afford a place like that so they can eat the foods that they want.

The Boog is going to kill millions without firing a shot.

Mangymutt -- i agree with you 100%. for some crazy reason, maybe because it is how my family mostly ate and me being hardcore since the early 90s, even when i go off and break the cycle, going back feels so good. if it makes any sense to say it this way, my body actually feels bad when i am breaking the HFLC rules at the time. it is like you know that you are ****ting on yourself in real time. even that initial fat adaptation phase which is uncomfortable is not so bad, almost cleansing. done it a few times, recently was probably really depressed (carbs are like a magnet for depressed people), and it is like coming home in a good way.

perhaps after people do it for a long time, there is less temptation or at least the transgressions are shorter and not so severe. it also helps if one has skin that instantly lets you know that you just did something really bad and the punishment is nasty, painful welts that take forever to heal.
