One of my favorites. Hits close to home. The crazy thing is my 16 yr old son likes to listen to the same music I did when I was his age.

IMO that was a generation of some of the greatest music ever!

In unrelated news, my 70-something next door neighbor didn't wake up last Sunday morning. Nothing notably wrong on Saturday. It comes for us all.

What shocked me was that a police team demanded to search the property.

What K said about the 70+.

When I was a teenager and even into my 20's I did not realize that most of the "stars" were in their 30's when they became stars. I guess they were made to look as young as possible but in reality they had spent 10 years or more paying their dues playing in bars. Of course, the 10+ years playing in bars is how they refined their stage presence and their ability to recover if something went wrong during a song.

Man, Drive is just one of the all-time classics, up there with the likes of Everybody Wants to Rule the World. One of my favourites of the era.

Yeah, well, we can talk about that one. My sister "dropped dead" at 4:00 AM on the ****ter, with her live-in b/f in residence. Now she'd been a boozer and drug user for a LONG ****ing time (like since she was a teen) so it was definitely coming but the cops wanted NOTHING to do with the scene WHATSOEVER.

HAD they gone through it they would have found paraphernalia of various sorts (which I had the "pleasure" of finding when clearing the house not all that long down the road) and what certainly appeared to be a barrel for a 12ga that was considerably shorter than 18". Now whether the RECEIVER was also there is an open question as I did not find THAT; without it having the barrel is not illegal, but if it WAS there, well that's a nice solid 10 years in the slam-slam for whoever happened to be in possession of it. And, I'm sure, all the useful things to go with the paraphernalia was of course consumed once the dead body was removed.

Oh, and to put icing on the cake said deceased person hadn't driven on their own for at least a year, so guess what the conduit for said "fun stuff" HAD to be.

Zero interest in any of that from the local gendarme. **** them; they're useless except for handing out tickets, which they do real well.

Drive is THE Cars song.... and it says so much about a time that used to be... and no longer is.

Maybe that's why it was time to die. What was -- was gone.

I grew up on those sounds, while admittedly we were more punk because we didnt want to listen to our older brothers music but we still love it. Now, who's playing in their seventies, stiff Little Fingers.

They're here in the USA,come see em.https://www.slf.rocks/

Late to the party, but I'll add this tidbit....

From listening to a DanRather interview, Eddie Money's two tickets were two greyhound bus tickets to the Redwoods in Cali. He was broke and dating a Berkeley girl at the time and this was his budget date.
