Oh, this is rich....

Amazon is reconsidering opening part of its second headquarters in New York after fierce opposition from lawmakers, according to a new report.

The Washington Post, which is also owned by Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, reported the Seattle-based tech giant is reconsidering the plan and has not leased or purchased any office space for the project. The report cited two people familiar with the company's thinking.

“The question is whether it’s worth it if the politicians in New York don’t want the project, especially with how people in Virginia and Nashville have been so welcoming,” one person familiar with the company’s plans told the Post.

I can't imagine why.

The Mayor thinks that everyone should have "free" health care, including illegal invaders.  They also tick every other SJW "checkbox" there is there and have for a very long time, from union jackboots (you can actually wildcat strike a jobsite by simply plugging in a piece of test equipment yourself in that city) to every bit of "diversity" mandate there is -- quality of work be damned to Hell.

Rich people are leaving -- lots of them.  They're leaving not so much because they have to pay a lot of taxes but because they don't get anything for their taxes.  They're simply sucked up by corruption and people who aren't worth a bucket of spit.

Of course this new development is panicking a bunch of people -- not the least of whom are those who had "inside information" and started buying up property thinking they had struck gold.  Now they're holding turds -- and those turds have very high property tax carrying costs too.  They're going to lose their ass and, if leveraged, will be bankrupted.

Good.

Amazon said it would bring 25,000 high-paying jobs and 8 million square feet of office space, along with $500 million a year in "incremental tax revenue" over 20 years.  Of course nobody ever defines what "incremental tax revenue" actually is; if you did that then you could put metrics on this and nail them when they failed to perform "as expected."

Of course this might have something to do with the left threatening to steal 90% of Beelzebezos income too.  I suppose if I was thinking of moving my headquarters there and ****wits like Occasional Kotex started spouting that crap with every single Demoncrat piling on I might just say go **** yourself to New York as well.

I'm sure the crackheads and homeless can pay all the taxes NYC requires for their "social programs" -- right?

I worked in a union plant for a while, years ago. One of our IT guys had a grievance filed against him for only pointing at a circuit breaker that controlled part of the server room. The grievance claimed that he deprived a union employee of work.

Yes.

Sidewalk space, park benches, over passes, any place the homeless live, force them to pay property tax.

They can also tax crack.

Someone is tweeking in one place too long. They can be double taxed.

Next thing you know they will be changing their name from New York to New Utopia.

She has had some stumbles, including sparring with fact checkers after The Washington Post gave her four Pinocchios for a false claim about Pentagon spending. I think that theres a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right, she said on 60 Minutes.

Morally right is more important than factually?

Of course Kotex exalts herself as the arbiter of what's moral and what's not. Sounds like she's promoting leftism as the state religion. All who disagree are sinners and must be condemned for their transgressions.

Newly-elected Congressional representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was among the more high-profile critics of the deal from the Democratic Party's leftward flank.

I'm definitely not an Amazon or Jeff Bezos fan, but who would want to deal with this little jackwad and her minions? 25,000 high paying jobs go poof.

AOC was trying to look tough and get attention by attacking Amazon. They took their ball and left the playground.(I know she wasn't the only one bashing Amazon, but she was lapping the media attention up like a thirsty dog)
