Trump seems to think that it's a rush to judgment and trial by media when it comes to physical abuse allegations against two of his top White House team members that recently left.

Uh, yeah, sure it is.

Let me remind you that basically all White House employees, irrespective of role, are investigated for security clearance reasons.  Those with higher positions and direct access to the President, of course, get more-thoroughly investigated.  But there's a little-known fact about the process, which is that the President himself can choose to share any sort of classified information with anyone and he or she, personally, is immune from being denied a clearance at any level whatsoever.

In other words someone who is a rabid, public sympathizer with a known enemy of the United States, so long as they're a natural born citizen of the United States, could be elected President and obtain access to anything, literally, he or she wanted.  He or she could also share same with anyone he or she wanted to and that would be completely legal.

Yes, this really does mean that if the people elected a serious felon to the Presidency and he or she shared top secret material with foreign agents or leaders there is nothing legal that anyone could do about it to punish said President.

The only remedy in that case is impeachment.

But this is not true for anyone else.

So I am willing to bet nearly any amount of money that more than a year into Trump's Presidency people within the White House knew damn well that both of those abuse allegations were not only out there but that physical evidence in the form of photos of spouses with black eyes and similar existed.  It's simply beyond any realm of reasonable belief that anyone working in the White House in any capacity, even sweeping floors, has not had at least public records looked at in this regard almost-instantly -- and these sorts of allegations, when made in a divorce or other similar circumstance, are there if you look.

That doesn't mean people don't make false allegations of abuse all the time -- they do.  But when such an allegation does exist whether or not there's a reasonable doubt that it's true is pretty-easy to ascertain.  If there's physical evidence to back up the claims that is pretty tough to refute -- like pictures of someone with a black eye taken contemporary with the complaint -- it's darn tough to ignore it other than through willful and intentional blindness.

So what the hell is going on here in the Trump White House?  There are serious delays in investigating clearances today and there have been plenty of scandals in that process in the past but I simply do not buy that not just one but two people in the White House employ, in high-level positions, got through even preliminary screening without this popping up as a potential disqualifying event for a clearance that said person would ultimately need to remain employed.

As a reminder the issue here is blackmail; a hidden event that can be used as a prybar in extortion or blackmail is where the risk generally lies.  As an example there's nothing disqualifying about being gay but if you're gay and in the closet, and should your wife find out you would be subject to a nasty divorce and loss of half or more of everything you have that might in fact be disqualifying.

In short I ain't buying the bull**** here that these were simply "newly discovered" issues that magically showed up all of a sudden.  I think they were known for months and intentionally ignored, and if so, that's a problem and I'd argue that those of you who support President Trump cannot sit back and idly ignore the apparent fact that the Trump White House knowingly kept quiet and tried to bury the fact that two of their top staff members stand accused of severe spousal abuse.

I have been interviewed for someones clearance investigation. The TOP thing they were concerned about was what they could be blackmailed for. Addictions, gambling, debts, abuse. Someone knew.

Maybe they didn't have the picture? But they knew something.

Yep. I have SEVERAL close associates with clearances and am well-aware of the process. I might have worked on something requiring one at some point in the past too, but if I had, I couldn't tell you (and certainly couldn't tell you WHAT it was!)

I heard that there are 30 to 40 people in the Trump Administration who still not have received security clearances yet, after a full year. While this is not necessarily a red flag, it's definitely a yellow one.

But of those, there are two who were working in the Oval Office... the recently departed Porter, and Jared Kushner.

How Kushner could have a position so intimately involved with the President himself... running elements of US foreign policy... and still is operating on an interim clearance a full year later is a screaming red flag.

Just my hunch, but I'm wagering there's something rotten there, and their intent is to just let Kushner operate indefinitely under this interim clearance just because he's "Trump's guy".

Of course they knew! And they were desperate to keep key positions filled - worth the risk of what seemed to be a slim chance for discovery.

I feel like this is a case of Karma closing in on the Grab 'em by the pussy" President. It's a mighty slow drip until it's not (heyyy sorta like the impending market realignment!).

Just wondering... how do we stop that military parade? Ideas anyone?

Clearances... they only care about what can be held against you. If you fill in the form honestly and can answerer "everyone" when asked who knows about this then it is not a problem. Felons need not apply.

His own staff is trying to destroy his Presidency. Trump had the first 100 days to get control of the situation, and did nothing. He has totally lost control, it's not going to matter what the FBI/DOJ did. The people see what Obama, and Clinton did as a necessary evil to stop Trump.

Fly - if they have Priestap flipped i think a lot of peeps are in hot water. Regardless though I don't see The Orange Menace being re-elected. But putting Comey in a jumpsuit vindicates him.

TMD, it doesn't matter, Trey Gowdy just opened up yet another investigation against Trump led by Republicans. Gowdy is being blackmailed for stealing tax payer funds, and belongs in prison. Will Trump do anything about that?

Trump is either a strong leader or he isn't, it's clearly the latter, it's time he resign before this gets worse, and gives even more leverage to the scum in DC.
