.... about some women -- and probably even kids -- being harassed and, maybe, even raped by Weinstein.

Yes, it's outrageous that there is evidence that a news story in 2004 was spiked to "protect" him.  Yes, it's outrageous (to the point of my refusal to believe it) that his wife didn't know anything about any of it.  Yes, it's outrageous that dozens of actors who had to know, at least at a level of rumor, did exactly nothing because they loved the career boost that he "gave" them.

Of course the biggest outrage of all is that he didn't "give" anyone anything. He bought it, including from both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama!

But spare me the outrage because I'm not outraged any more.  I merely look at articles like this:

While we can understand policymakers’ concerns, we at PIMCO – currently one of the largest non-government investors in GSE-issued mortgage-backed securities (MBS) – believe a draw on the Treasury by Fannie or Freddie would not be a market event, nor would it reduce our demand for these securities. Instead, we believe the policy focus should be on what agency MBS investors really care about: making the government guarantee explicit.

Let me remind you that The Federal Reserve is prohibited by law from buying or holding any debt that does not have the "full faith and credit" of the United States government behind it, with one small exception for "Revenue Anticipation Notes" issued by the States.  That law dates to 1913.

Let me further remind you that back when the financial crisis was just starting and The Fed announced it was going to buy Fannie and Freddie paper I posted a front page of their debt offering prospectus on which was emblazoned the fact that there was no such guarantee.

That made the entirety of the Fed's actions it that regard, which have continued daily since that time and in fact continue today, an illegal act.  Yet not one Fed governor has been referred for prosecution, not one such transaction has been ruled void as an illegal act, not one person has raised the fact that financial offenses which involve banks and a pattern of conduct are deemed Racketeering and in fact not one question has been asked and followed up as to exactly where the Fed acquired the ability to arrogate to itself the power to rewrite law to suit is own decisions.

Let me further remind you that in every single year since that time the Federal Government and Federal Reserve have in fact conspired to emit into the market enough credit via Treasury as a percentage of GDP to exceed the amount of growth in the economy.  In other words there has been no actual growth since that time, every economic statistic saying otherwise has been an intentional fraud and the entire group of same has been emitted by the press and the government for the explicit purpose of screwing you, the common person, with the sum total of same now amounting to more than $10 trillion dollars.

It would be nice if it ended there but it doesn't.  The scam in health care has resulted in, at this point, every single American family being scammed out of the mortgage payment on a middle-class house each and every month!  That's right -- every single American family is literally having a house stolen from them daily, monthly, annually and continually.

Then of course we have, as I've written on, Las Vegas where the LVMPD and CCSO take acclaim as "heroes" when in fact they deserted from their jobs and in doing so allowed hundreds of rounds to be put into innocent people, killing nearly 60 and injuring more than 500, when they could have stormed the hallway.  They might not have stopped him from shooting but they would have drawn his fire and thus would have certainly stopped him from shooting at innocent, unarmed people.  In addition they would have forced him to fire "blind" and we already know the results of that; he emptied 200 rds into the hallway and got one non-fatal injury out of it to the security guard.  So instead of taking a few rounds to themselves the cops allowed that jackass to rain close to 1,000 rounds down on innocent people where more than half of them were "hits" in order to avoid taking 1 in 200 rounds to one of their own.

Utterly none of these events, or the dozens of other outrageous events similar to it that either bankrupt or even kill people by the score register enough outrage for the American Public to rise, demand that it stop and that everyone involved go to prison right damn now.

So spare me the outrage over Weinstein.

His ability to get away with it for as long as he did -- and profit from it -- is a direct result of your refusal to get off your ass collectively and put a stop to the blatant and outrageous criminality throughout our political, financial and judicial system for the last several decades.

Oh, that includes most-especially all the women who went along with sucking-and-****ing Weinstein, encouraged his actions or enabled him for their own personal profit.

The ONLY thing remotely interesting to me about the Weinstein story is whether he might decide to take some people down with him.

Exactly. All the actors who are now coming out in the open against Weinstein were okay with it earlier as it yielded benefits. You cannot keep quiet when what is happening is unlawful when it suits you. This applies across sectors...

I stopped being outraged about sexual misconduct against women when Bill Clinton got away with what he did, other than the headlines I have not read much about WineStain.

Abuse and sexual abuse should not be used as a political football, if somebody harmed another person and it can be proven the offender should pay a price.

A 22 year old sucking off "The most power man on the planet" and she is turned into the one who did wrong, Bill Clinton raped Monica Lewinsky (And by accounts many others) and the American people seemed to like it so much they let themselves get raped every day by the same group of people.

Numbed not outraged is what I am.

Meh. There is no evidence that Monica did anything other than engage in a consensual sexual relationship. She has not alleged it and neither has anyone else.

However, she still whines to this day about how her own decision to suck off the President has "stained" her. Well, chickee, guess what -- actions have consequences and the POTUS is the most-known person on the ****ing planet. You blow him on your own volition and that's on you forever, like it or not. If she was under age or coerced I'd see it differently, but that's not the case.

You want to talk about Clinton and sexual assault there are plenty of actual alleged victims there. Monica wasn't one them.

Exactly. Monica should be the shining example to young women about the dangers of choices, and how one or two heat-of-the-moment acts can tarnish you for LIFE.

I suspect almost all the women knew exactly what they were receiving for their affection and had no problem with it including Jolie and that blond moron who seems to be at the top of the news. It is like they are just shocked that a man would proposition them. I thought they were up-standing independent women who could do and handle anything? But nooooo... they had to hide these incidents for years and years and then suddenly he is a terrible beast because they are innocent respectable women. Uh huh... what a load of horse ****.

It just proves what everyone already knows, there are different rules for having different political leanings in the media.

We saw it with Bill Clinton and all the women that came forward on his sexual behavior towards them. The media gave him a pass and even praised his behavior as being manly. Can you imagine the response of the media if Trump had a Bimbo Eruption team in his White House like Clinton did? Yet some Republican Congressman taps his foot in a bathroom stall and it was off with his head.

This week we find that analysis of media coverage on President Trump, the main stream media only had 5% positive coverage on the President.

The media can bury its head and try to protect these people like Weinstein but there is a new sheriff in town, and the biggest news sources on the planet is YouTube, Twitter and Facebook.

The main stream media is dying a slow and in some cases a quick death.

Our toxic culture/society offers all the old vices and a whole set of new wrinkles on them, and proves that while you can't cheat an honest man, the supply of dishonest ones is a sea of endless opportunity for the unscrupulous.

Showbiz moms pandering their sons and daughters? How's that different than Munchhausen's Syndrome by Proxy, which today offers us the previously unimaginable prospect of a mother getting attention by insisting her son is a girl tranny, possibly to the point where physicians will lop off his genitals and inject him with estrogen...with GOVERNMENT APPROVAL!!) Women using their bodies for advancement? Old as sin itself. Marks lining up to give their money to Madoff based on his "stellar returns?" Nothing new, just that the scope of today's Ponzi is so large that only cranks call it by its right name.

If you strip away all the obfuscation and lies people tell themselves, what we have is 50 years of growing belief that we can have our cake and eat it too, that we can be hedonists yet chaste, stupid and wise, throw caution to the wind yet risk-averse, and above all, that compounded returns can continue forever because all the IOU's issued by the right hand were bought by the left.

You nailed this whole thing a long time ago with the lily pond analogy. I prefer Prechter's Socionomic Hypothesis for explaining why the human herd stands quietly cropping grass while the firestorm encircles it, but the outcome is the same. Pathologically trusting, pathologically complacent, pathologically open, and above all Pathologically BOVINE. We get the world to which our neighbors consent, and the process by which they awaken and stampede does not respond to outside entreaty. No PowerPoint, no blog, no new report will affect the timing of when this supervolcano erupts. But erupt it will.

Is the last 50 years (esp. since 1981/82) just Idiocracy-in-Action? The IQ of America is known to be declining.

Re: Monica and choices.

One of today's saddest Pop Culture lies is that people can separate physical and emotional intimacy, habituating to years (if not decades) of casual physical intimacy and the shallow relationships that result, and then "by magic" they'll meet Mr./Ms. Right, settle down, get married and (equally magic) rejoin the link between both kinds of intimacy.

Wrong. Everything we do becomes a part of us. Learning that sex and emotional devotion can be disaggregated is a DISASTER, dooming a person to lifelong loneliness. This is what I think drives the onset of late-in-life divorce. People just don't have the investment in emotional intimacy because so few of them skipped a period of casual sex with people they never intended to court.

Every 13 year old should have explained to them the concept of irrevocable decisions. Some (many?) will still give into their basic impulses, but at least some of them might, if given a REASON WHY to put off such decisions, avoid accumulating a series of experiences from which they'll never escape.

<sarcasm>

Surely you're joking about that, right?

"...Home Depot, in fact, has released a series of how-to videos aimed at Millennials, walking them through basic operating skills. And when they say basic, they mean very, very basic -- as in, how to use a tape measure. (Tutorials on power drills, circular saws, and nail guns are slightly more esoteric.) Even Home Depot's marketing executives were uncertain about how the DIY videos would be taken, worried that they seemed too condescending..."

IQ and knowledge are not the same thing. A smart person can lack knowledge, but learn it. A dumb person will have a hard time learning new things.

My grandfather ran a farm. My Dad chose not to have the farm life. I would be a poor farmer for a while until I relearned all the knowledge that my Grandfather had. Does that make me dumb? or just ignorant?

I can be taught, I fly planes for a living. If people grow up in a family where their parents are not handy, they won't be handy (unless forced to be). All it takes is one generation to skip on a skill set and it is lost to the future generations until relearned.

The prevalence of liberal parasites has become so overwhelming that they are not just eating their host, they're now eating each other, too. It's actually poetic justice to see the Hollywood bugs turn on Weinstein.

Most of the Hollywood crowd are out-of-their-mind crazy with maggots in their brain. They actually make a living off from producing sleaze, even glorifying sleazeballs, and then feeding it to the degraded public..

Very little of what comes out from Hollywood is uplifting and/or beneficial in any way whatsoever. So. Spare me the bull**** story of how many of these shrews slept their way to the top ( probably enjoying the sordid sex) and now they want an additional payoff.

Yes, the Bill Clinton of Hollywood ( aka Weinstein) had a trail of victims, but the Hollywood *****s who were complicit aren't among them... There is a growing trend in modern society: women first encourage those with power to have sordid sex with them and then sometime later on down the road play the victim... This doesn't mean Weinstein isn't dog ****. What it means is the *****s knowingly, willingly and eagerly lay down and spread their legs on the casting couch...
