They will throw in the FosTech Echo and the Franklin Binary for good measure.
I am afraid of the overreach and making any aftermarket trigger or even a spring kit illegal.

Guess I'll order another Geissele.
I have an unassembled lower sitting here needing some attention.
Was thinking about a Wilson cartridge though.
They are actually paying royalties to the original designer of the drop in cartridge trigger and were not sued.

My heavy buffer and spring combo actually slows my cyclic rate.
I noticed a difference in how clean my case necks were too with hardly any soot down the necks.
Rifle length 20" Colt HBAR so the bolt unlock was being delayed enough that most of the powder was getting burned.
Full power Hammer spring. G2S trigger.
It is a nice kerchunk sound without the sproing that I just hate.
69 and 75 HPBT for longer range and 55 SP for the back yard.
A2 stock with a 3 pound lead weight in it. Heavy thing it is.
No brake, unthreaded muzzle with target crown.

This entire situation makes me sick to the stomach.

Back during the Slick Willey AWB of 1994 I was one of the people who didn't give a crap about black rifles.

NRA can EABOD. My old man just passed and he was a NRA lifer who they shook down for every pending panic that members would need to keep fueling the furnace over.

I had been raised to shoot my bullets one at a time with intent and had little use for spray and pray marksmanship. I was a bit concerned about the magazine capacity ban affecting my potential handgun purchases, but ARs? Pffft. Didn't care.

There's some truth to the "First they came for the Jews..." argument.
It was still several years before I looked again at an AR as other than a way to turn a box of ammo into noise and heat. In fact the AWB had sunset per the way it was written (violent crime didn't change btw) before I ever picked one up and though "huh...".

Eventually I came around, and if it weren't for the hazards of maritime operations I would still own a few.

Do I have use for bump stocks? No. Nor 60+ round magazines, 100 round drums, etc. Heck, that psycho that shot up the movie theater in Colorado demonstrated those drums to be useless jam-O-matics (saving lives as pointed out).

The untrained public cannot discern a NFA legal arm from a monkey crank (nor many of us including me who stated initially that I thought he was shooting belt fed FA). They will not be sympathetic to the fine line between what makes a full auto weapon or bump fire.

Setting aside that the 1968 GCA and 1984 NFA decisions are unconstitutional, bump fire is just another way to achieve lots of lead in the air. The same uninformed public has spent the past 20+ years frightened of black rifles and we tease them in return because they're reacting to scary features.

Arguing that an AR is not more dangerous than gramps deer rifle or bird gun doesn't work any more. Arguing that it's not full auto because you have to pull the trigger each time doesn't either.
"oh the calamity! I have to actually release to the reset point and push again? Completely different!"

Er.

Second Amendment, bitches. What part of "shall not be infringed" is difficult to understand.

Bump stocks are for looks only, the action can be done with a simple few parts from Home Depot, or with nothing at all. How exactly do they plan to confiscate them?

The thing that got my antenna raised was how the guy is basically being called a recluse and no one knows much about him? Think about that one, yet this guy had no problem being known as a whale in the casinos? He loved the attention he got at the casinos but outside the casino he was a recluse?

I'm betting this guy has been into a lot of shady stuff over the years and he had to keep a very low profile.

What if it's the worst case (or a particularly bad one) and it is antifa-related? There are rumors of big things coming on 11/4, but I'm not sure how substantiated they are (of course, if enough people believe it and act on it, rumor can become reality). So what then? Let's say there is a legitimate armed, domestic insurgency? What are the feds' likely countermeasures against same, especially if it involves terrorist attacks against citizens? After all, in a week we saw a country/western music concert get hit and a largely white church get a smaller dose of the same.

So my question is, does this model fit and how well does it fit the information we know so far? I mean, leftists might well expect violent reprisals if this was a left-wing attack (like last week's church attack that has been memory-holed may well have been), so we could expect information to be withheld until it was less likely to result in reprisals. Such a thing could quickly turn into a hot war in weeks, and other governments certainly have an interest in us having one. Leftist degenerates are willing to work with jihadis that want them dead. White leftists are willing to work with BLM and BAMN groups who want them dead. Black leftists are willing to work with immigrant leftists who don't exactly have the hots for them either. But the target is western civilization and the type of people who built it. All the genocidal rhetoric towards whites, men, Christians, southerners, gun owners, etc., may be coming to a head where it becomes more than rhetoric. It already has some places.

Thoughts? How bad could this get if it's an armed uprising in the works? What signs would we see before it broke loose, other than lots of well organized gun store robberies, rhetoric against the groups and symbols they want gone, etc.? Like, what pieces are not in play now that would be if this were correct?

Not saying that it is...yet. But damn, do I dislike how it feels like it could easily be.

Video poker has a 99%+ payout on most machines. It is therefore possible with luck to nearly break even or slightly more, but you must have a BIG bankroll in order to get away with it AND you must be able to psychologically handle the inevitable "cold" times without losing your cool and deviating from mathematically correct play.

Short of single-deck blackjack it's arguably the best gamble in the "player .vs. casino" realm in the place.

99 people out of 100 CANNOT do the latter, even if they have the bankroll to do the former. This is why video poker machines are present in casinos; for every one who can almost break-even playing them for reasonably high stakes (~$100/hand) there are TEN OR FIFTY who cannot because their mental state doesn't allow it. Those people all lose CRAZY amounts of money.

One example: Unlike in LIVE poker against other humans in video poker you MUST throw away small pairs. You'd NEVER do that at a live table, but mathematically when there are NO OPPONENTS (in other words you need only to make a hand, NOT beat someone else) and the payouts for the small pair are not worth remaining in, it is the mathematically correct play. The reason is that the odds of making a good hand (which DOES pay well) are ridiculously damaged by keeping the small pair compared with tossing them. Essentially you are playing for straight and royal flushes at these machines; they're rare but they pay well if you get one.

If you play a lot (in money) at a casino with a players card in you'll start "getting things." State law prohibits them from choosing to comp you on whether you win or lose; they can only do it on play VOLUME. So there's a certain perverse view where you basically can "win" due to the comps and their "value." It's not real, however, since those comps don't have anywhere near their face value (do you really think a cheeseburger costs the hotel $26?) but it's the "hook" they use to get people to wager more, and more-frequently.

Oh, if you can count cards at blackjack you can get banned too. I had an uncle (now deceased) that played single-deck 21 only and he was good enough at it that Ceasars wouldn't let him play any more......

Now the morons are "thinking about new legislation," presumably to prohibit bump-stocks. Just another iteration of "we're ruled by morons." How will they "prohibit" someone looping their finger through their belt loop and doing the same thing? Some semis (the M1A comes to mind) can "bump double" just by not pulling the stock HARD against the shoulder. Will that be illegal? (facepalm.)

PS: The killed/wounded ratio strongly suggest to me that this clown used fragmenting ammo (e.g., the 5.56 77gr OTM ammo increasingly favored by the .mil.) At 300+ yds, it seems unlikely that he'd have achieved 10% killed vs wounded with standard 55gr FMJ or the current 62 gr fodder. If this is so, and makes the news, look for an update to calls to ban what amounts to all hunting ammo. How many times do these stupid reruns come back to the local theater?

No; at the distance he was shooting the rounds were below the fragmentation/upset velocity. His "results" came simply from the density of people; he was punching .22 caliber holes at that range and the collateral stampede/hit-by-car/etc damage that resulted was responsible for materially enhancing the damage as well.

A bit off topic for guns, but is a casino story. A friend of mine, now deceased, passed through Las Vegas with some friends many years ago. He wanted to blow $50 in a casino, just for the life experience.

His friends wait in the car - for several hours. Finally they go in to find out what's wrong. They find him at the blackjack table. "But I haven't lost the $50 yet." It turns out he's several hundred dollars ahead.

They're like, we're leaving Right Now!

The WRONG thing to do is engage in arguments/discussions/debates over the technical minutiae of the differences between "auto", "semi-auto", "burst", bump fire, bump stock, monkey cranks, etc., etc.

One, it's a waste of your time. You're attempting to use facts & logic to argue against feelz. A losing proposition.

Two, it's a trap. Simply by engaging in that argument from that direction, you are, whether you intend to or not, conceding that the banning of automatic firearms is right proper and good and constitutional. (I say not).

Three, it's a trap, phase two. Now that you've conceded the ban on automatic, they're going to pile on heaping helpings of feelz to justify expanding bans/restrictions on anything and everything that is even remotely related.

The correct response is:

Repeal NFA '34
Repeal GCA '68
Repeal FOPA '86

Yes, repeal, repeal, repeal. 3 repeals.

You'll note there is no "replace" involved in any way shape of form.

All three are unconstitutional and thus do not require "repeal." They require dismantlement and voiding.
