Time to walk off for a while.

There are articles in the queue, and they'll be allowed to run off.

Some more here and there will probably be posted.

But not very many, until the people of this country act.  I have too many other things to do that are more-productive -- like masturbate, as just one example.

The latest piece of idiocy is the company "iRobot", which makes the Roomba.  They intend to use the mapping data of your house that their robotic "cleaners" collect and sell it to anyone who wishes to buy it.

You would think this becoming public would cause their stock to crash.  Instead it's up more than 22% today.

Amazon has gotten caught disadvantaging you on price, in some cases by more than half.  Their stock price hasn't been touched.

The DNC's top people employed a Pakistani who then apparently put his entire ****ing family on the payroll within days, had full access to the entire IT infrastructure of the Democrats in the House, and, it appears, may have been stealing at least physical hardware and maybe everything on those systems.  He was finally arrested yesterday trying to flee the country.  The cover-up of this story spans months by they media including, I remind you, the same media property Jeff Bezos owns.

The total response from people and the markets?  Zero, even when there might be actual treason involved.

Then again I shouldn't be surprised.  More than $3 trillion stolen from you every year by the medical monopolies doesn't matter either, right?

There's simply no point in attempting to report what's going on when nobody gives a ****.

We all should.

"Social media" may have been the last straw for humanity. That and the rise of scam-azon. Nothing could be more pathetic than the thought of a human being reduced to buying (overpriced) things on Amazon, or only interacting with others through the filter of the Internet. Or thinking they have thousands of 'friends' they've never met face to face or had a real conversation with.

At least going to the mall involves seeing and interacting with other humans directly.

For some reason these lyrics comes to mind:

"You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help . . . no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold"

(I Am The Slime) by my avatar Mr. Zappa pretty much summed it up back in the 70's.

Thanks for being such an independent thinker, much like he was although in quite a different style and manner.

They posted on twitter the legal complaint.Seriously, the Feds are nailing him for mortgage fraud. As I read it, I'm thinking has he even defaulted on the loan yet? It was originated in Jan 17. I guess they had to come up with a reason to detain him. He should get off with the Wells Fargo/Goldman Sachs/JP Morgan bank fraud defense. Banana Republic. Thank you Karl for all you posts and articles, I've been a reader for years.

Ha! Karl I was going to send you the Roomba thing the minute I saw it.

Yea, Karl it is time to take a break until something changes.

Where is the AG of the USA? The House of Representatives is hacked by a foreign national, uh that is not worthy of opening an immediate investigation?
The National security of the United States House does not get his immediate attention?

What the ****ing ****!

The best thing that could happen to Washington DC would be for it to be smashed by a good sized asteroid obliterating all human life within a 100 mile radius.

If you live within the blast zone God Bless you it is for the greater good.

I am betting only about 5% of the population understand what is really going on thanks to sites like the Ticker. With those numbers and the press actively supporting the crooks nothing will ever get done. We are labeled the "kooks".

I have a liberal neighbor who can not understand why I voted for Trump. I've told him Trump will not get anything done other than provide entertainment. The crooks have control of every thing and the idiots that use smart devices are like the crew in Star Trek Next Generation "The Game".

Karl thanks for all your information but, go enjoy life. You have earned every right to say **** IT. That is what I am doing. I run, work in the garden, cook, workout, take care of my animals... at 63 I plan to enjoy what I can before it all comes apart.

There's a proverb from the South: from shirtsleeve to shirtsleeve in three generations. Interestingly, the Chinese have a similar proverb: nothing lasts three generations. As do many other cultures; three generations seems to be the agreed upon number, derived independently.

The following is from the opening of WB Yeat's poem, Sailing to Byzantium (now in the public domain, and emphasis is mine):

Quote:
That is no country for old men. The young
In one another's arms, birds in the tress,
--Those dying generation--at their song,
The salmon-falls, the mackerel-crowded seas,
Fish, Flesh, or Fowl, commend all summer long
Whatever is begotten, born, and dies.
Caught in that sensual music ALL neglect
Monuments of unageing intellect.

To rail against decadence is a symptom of decadence, and there comes a time when one can tire of being a mere symptom.

There's a fundamental difference between civilization and culture. Culture: who can understand that today, so we promote civilization over culture. What in effect is civilization but a continuous response on what to do with our garbage. In times of decadence, profound individuals are possible (they may always be possible), but truly great edifices are not. Today, the Apex Regional Landfill in Nevada looks to be our great edifice--aptly named, perhaps.

A prominent statesman in an Ancient Greek city-state resigned and retired away to philosophize. After some years his countrymen came to him to implore him to come back and he replied that he wasn't done philosophizing. So they asked him how long he intended to philosophize: as long as asses lead our armies.

Sigh. Just came across this:
https://www.cnet.com/news/these-cheap-ph....

A PRC company sells really cheap phones that call home to the PRC. Q: Given these are cheap, what did the company get out of it that was worth getting caught? Oh well, I guess if nothing happens to them then it's worth it after all...

Yep, to all these comments.

I'm not holding my breath that any of the wide spread corruption will be touched.

Honestly how can it be touched or punished? That is all we are now as a Nation and a people, the corruption and theft is not problem to be corrected because without it we would find there is nothing left. That is all we ****ing have.

We have gone so far down the ****ter that without the false hope of the graft and theft we have NOTHING!

This country is like a roll over car accident victim, they're still moving their arms and talking, but the second that car is lifted off of their torso they are dead. This country has already been crushed, it is just most people don't know it.

I warn anyone about having one of these listening devices in their homes. I'm already afraid of my TV and laptop.

I will never do business with Amazon again. I try to avoid Google as much as possible, though there are parts that I use a lot, like YouTube, which I will continue to use as long as it is an open format.

As far as the Washington Post goes? I wouldn't trust the sports scores in a media of misinformation. The Awan story has been out there for months. Wasserman-Schultz threatened the DC chief of Police with being skinned alive, if he didn't give up a computer he had in connection with this. There is widespread lying going on in DC that is intentionally repeated in the press. I suspect you couldn't build enough prisons to put the establishment crooks in jail there and in NY. Remember, no one went to jail in the great financial crisis, except probably people who failed to pay their political bribes. When a piece of trash like Hillary Clinton can have the nomination rolled out on a silver platter and then have billions behind her, including free press and the press cheating in her behalf, which is worth billions on its own, the system is ****ed, the press isn't free and the game is rigged.

No one investigates anything important. The Trump Russian collusion was a made up story by the DNC. I bet with a few resources and a few subpoenas I can prove that with literally no doubt. Yet they are spilling barrels of ink, spending millions to run around a story that has no validity. Get one that does, and because it implicates the criminals tied to the criminals that are being protected, the MSM doesn't touch it.

What are the problems with Russia? A few people associated with Putin turn up dead? How many associated with Hillary Clinton have committed suicide with 3 gunshots to the back of the head? Did she do them all or have them done? Probably not. But, Putin is guilty. Election interference? The CIA and a George Soros organization overthrew the crook in Ukraine a few years ago. It wasn't a problem he was a crook, as everyone that has had that post has been a crook. The real problem is they want to force Eastern Europe into the EU and into NATO to strip them of their independence and force the Russians to give up their independence as well and let the crooks in the western world gain ownership to their mineral wealth. If the Russians pulled the same crap in Mexico, we would have a hissy fit. Crimea had been part of Russia longer than it had been part of Ukraine. The question is, why are we blaming them for something we did and why are we risking a world war? Nothing is different. Someone with big money is stealing from us and them.

Jeez Karl, you just figured this out? LOL

I gave up about 5 years ago. Sold everything and moved to a small house in the Florida Keys on a canal. I work when I feel like it and to stay in shape. I wrote letters, called my reps, etc. LOL What a total and complete waste of time.

So, last Friday there was a "Christmas in July" party at the local dive bar. I napped from 5 to 8 and headed to the bar at 9.

I end up making out with a lesbian at the bar at 1:30am completely ****ed up. My friends are like "What the **** are you doing?"

I said "I am living life and how many lezbos have you made out with?"

Wow, that girl understood the fine art of kissing.

After looking at more charts and bull**** since I joined this site, I have come to the conclusion that we are completely, totally, and thoroughly ****ed. I keep hearing about a "reset". What the **** does that look like? Look at the worldwide debt and the numbers are not staggering, they cannot be comprehended.

I still keep my sailboat up in Virginia as a plan "B"

Folks listen to me. Live now.

@mannfm11, using youtube because it's an open format? How many copyright violations you think have been committed?

But if it's "free" on the internet of course it isn't theft. I'm probably mistaken, all those users are probably on there just watching self-generated content--like cat videos, which are viewed a lot....well, that doesn't seem to make a better case for actively supporting a criminal enterprise.

In a 2007 case, Viacom International, Inc, v. YouTube, inc, through the discovery process, a June 15, 2005 Email from Chad Hurley, emailing to his cofounders, went as follows:

Quote:
So, a way to avoid the copyright bastards might be to remove the 'No copyrighted or obscene material' line and let the users moderate the videos themselves. Legally, this will probably be better for us, as we'll make the case we can review all videos and tell them if they're concerned they have the tools to do it themselves.

Here YouTube was seeking to use the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) as a "safe harbor" in pretending to not know. Except, there's a provision: does YouTube receive financial benefit directly attributable to the presence of infringing content on their site? You tell me, since you like to use it regularly.

another email exchange from 2005, when full-length movies were being put on YouTube, Steve Chen wrote to Hurley and Jawed Karim, "Steal it!" Hurley responded: "hmmm, steal the movies?"

Chen replied: "We have to keep in mind that we need to attract traffic. How much traffic will we get from personal videos? Remember, the only reason why our traffic surged was due to a video of this type...viral videos will tend to be THOSE type of videos" [emphasis not mine].

Even when Google acquired YouTube it didn't stop. Again, through the discovery process, a June 8, 2006, presentation outlining YouTube's content strategy was uncovered. I was sent by Google senior vice president of product management Jonathan Rosenberg to Eric Schmidt, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, and it in part said, that Google must: "pressure premium content providors to change their model towards free[;] Adopt 'or else' stance re prosecution of copyright infringement elsewhere[;] Set up 'play first, deal later' around 'hot content.'"

There's plenty more, it's a well documented case. Viacom was forced to settle the case unfavorably because Google was able to leverage its monopolistic status (which can be further argued that Google did exploit its monopolistic market share to damage competitors like Yahoo and RealNetworks because they didn't opt for the steal first model).

But what's the harm, right?

I don't remember the specific statistic but something like... the S&P500 as a whole has paid out more in dividends and stock buy backs since 2009 than they have earned in profit. That's gonna last, right?

Karl,

I can't thank you enough for all your efforts in enlightening and informing the public and us about all these "extraction" schemes that are seemingly endless anymore. The bread and circuses crowds simply don't have a clue as to what sort of damage is coming their way and will not demand any changes until the pain level is a lot more than it is currently.

I have learned a great deal from all your Tickers and your breadth and depth of knowledge on such an array of topics is simply astounding.

I especially wanted to say thank you for the extensive background information and analysis on LCHFMP it has literally been a life saver for myself and those I have shared it with.

It's time to pull the Martin Baker handle as this plane is headed into the side of the mountain at Mach 2. The ejection may not be survivable either but has greater odds than remaining strapped into the seat.

I wish there was a way we could begin to repay you for all your efforts and the amazing education you have shared with all of us.

Take care and hope to see you on the other side of what unfolds!

Enjoy your time doing the things that give you pleasure.

Kick back and enjoy some Lagavulin !

Take Care !

Thanks for the LCHFMP information. I fell into that trying the Atkins diet years ago. While I figured it out on my own, I could never knit a good story/explanation together to communicate the total picture to others. I have used your writing to get that message across to 6 other people who are complete converts now. Add that to the list of folks you helped.

As I have said before, I got hooked on your work via Ron Smith on WBAL in Baltimore after you did bit with him. Thanks for teaching me. I don't understand fully everything you write on, but at least for me (and it seems many others) you have a way of getting the message through in a digestible fashion.

I am not sure how to write this so it comes across correctly but I intend this as a high compliment: I read your articles imploring people to simply "think" and do some simple research. But it appears to me that you have the ability to simply recall all manor of information. I simply can't recall that much to see the links to then put that together. I think that is why I valued this site so much. While I continue to get better at putting the pieces together, there is always someone that is better than. That is where/how you learn.

I wish you and your daughter peace and happiness in whatever time remains. I know I value every second with my wife and boys. Every day I pause and think: These are the good ol' days. If I every have the pleasure of bumping into you in this life, I'll supply the bacon "pizza" using my homemade pancetta!
Thank you.
