Tenth Amendment

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

An unconstitutional act is not law; it confers no rights; it imposes no duties; affords no protection; it creates no office; it is in legal contemplation, as inoperative as though it had never been passed. -- Norton v Shelby County, 118 US 425, 442 (1886)

"No legislative act, therefore, contrary to the Constitution, can be valid. To deny this, would be to affirm, that the deputy is greater than his principal; that the servant is above his master; that the representatives of the people are superior to the people themselves..." -- Federalist #78

We have a Constitution and It Really Matters!

Kills 2 birds with one stone, too. One of the big weapons the deep state wields to bring about instability/regime change around the world is economic.

Trumps been playing right into their hands on this one.. He's been all too happy to own this stock market "Trump Bump". I think this means he'll own the downside politically when the bottom drops out. He'll be vulnerable at that point because his voter base will go wobbly.

What do I know, though? I'm a dude hackin on a KB in CO..

Even if that's not what @Tickerguy meant by the cryptic title of the Ticker here, @Jazen did hit a nail on the head.

That leaves Yellen facing a predicament similar to one that former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan called a conundrum in February 2005, when the central bank was raising borrowing costs and long-term yields kept falling and equity markets rallied. At the time, the dilemma was blamed on a global glut of savings.

10 weeks until .gov runs out of cash. From ZH article.

"On 15th March, the US Treasury will hold roughly $200 billion and will be unable to borrow more. When that $200 billion runs out, thats it. Although this amount may sound sizeable, the US government spends roughly $75 billion per month, which means that it is due to hit the wall around the first of June."

I like these two answers which, to me are the same.

So, we might have the mother of all debt ceiling showdowns or, US Gov might have to pay a higher interest rate than anticipated. My first thought is that a higher than anticipated interest rate would signal the beginning of the end much more than a debt ceiling showdown.

Sadly...no. No political will because the right decision would be his political undoing.

I don't see how we extricate ourselves from this without some sort of collapse...

Karl and anyone else who's interested, I know this is a perhaps difficult question to answer, but just wondering how you think we'll see and/or feel the coming depression...

Will it look like the photos we've seen from the 1930s? Will it be worse than the 1930s? My initial guess is that it will be less severe but more drawn out like Japan's lost two decades...

Will there be lots of looting and starvation and individual rationing/saving?

And how do you think it may compare to other nation's fiscal crises we've seen in the past? Again, my guess is it won't be like Germany's Weimar Republic's but rather more like Japan's...

Anyway, just a thought exercise for anyone who wants to enjoy their popcorn...

@1crzydmnd - I live in LA, so about as large a city as it can get. Not planning on leaving here since all my friends and family are here and so far a stable job, but thank you for the advice. Would love to hear from others their opinion as well.

@Gauntlet-

I 2nd 1crzydmnd's answer. Large cities, especially in "non-free" states will be death traps. Once things go pear shaped. escape arteries won't work, and you are stuck where you are. Then prepare to interact with all 20 million of your neighbors are an intimate level.
If you are unwilling to relocate, then be prepared to jump early when things smell bad. if you wait for the actual fire, its too late.

Is the Ten Things Ticker still around? I remember most of it and thought I saved it, but don't see it. It might have rolled off (not on 4 pages of Tickers that I see).
