I remember reading that way back when, and it may have been right before the Civil War, that the Senate threw a hissy fit when the president requested a personal secretary. Who does he think he is, they ranted, and some favored cutting his salary since he obviously wasn't doing anything since he claimed he needed a secretary.

Things have changed a bit since then.

But if they had balls, they just cut the WH staff down to nothing and make O have to do a few things for himself.

And if he wants to play basketball they should make him supply his own jock, socks, t-shirt and shorts too. And close the gym down on the weekends.

mr prez can drive himself around in his own car, and pay for his own airplane tickets.

And, only two weeks paid vacation per year. If he wants to go somewhere with his family, his family pays.

mr prez can either pay for the white house staff out of his own salary or fire them. That means his wife does the gardening, cooking, and cleaning. :) Let's see how she likes gardening if she has to do it herself.

shock and awe budgeting should begin in the white house. Board it up and live in a tent outside instead, or sleep on the oval office couch.

Needs to workout? Go running among the unwashed, or use the Congressional gym (more unwashed).

When you have to pay for it yourself, suddenly the money priorities look ALOT different.

I would be impressed if the news media would point out the hypocracy of the Obamas with regard to their vacations and the cost to the taxpayers whileat the same time demonizing the well to do and pointing to how this is the worst recession since the great depression.
I have not researched it but I suspect that the Obama family vacations over the first 4 years cost more than all the GW Bush and Clinton vacations combined (both families for a combined time span of 16 years)

Grun,

A little internet research will show some data regarding presidential holiday time. The same research will highlight the partisan style of commentary on the presidential vacationing. If it is a R pres, the D reporting demonizes the vacation, and vice versa. To date, it appears that Obama is a bit under the near-term average for vacation days while in office (an average that was skewed to the high side by W, and skewed lower by Clinton).

I like this link: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424....

One can discern a bit more via what is said by which media outlet if one pays attention.

2 except be arrested and put under investigation for admittedly
3 supplying a faked birth certificate, and not being an NBC

Seems to me Bush mainly went to his central Texas ranch, probably easy to defend Don't recall much golf. It probably costs a fortune to secure a golf course, especially if it is a different one every time. Seems Hillary was accused of taking a massively expensive trip with her liberal entorage. Seems I recall a fortune being spent to go to Hana Maui on the way back from somewhere. The Clintons claimed poverty going in and came out filthy rich, reminding me of some of the Presidents of Mexico. Remember, Hillary has only been Senator or Secretary of State since being first lady, so it isn't like she was involved in private enterprise. I recall Reagan got a fat fee to go to Japan and speak. Bill merely amped it up a little and probably gave a few hundred. Bill liked the golf course as well. Seems Ike started the golf thing on a grand scale with Presidents

If I recall the story correctly, W was on the golf course one day when he was informed of some soldiers dying in Iraq. He swore he would never golf again while in office, as long as the Iraq War was going on.

Sometimes Louie makes me proud. He's not perfect or smooth and he catches grief from the the papers in the congressional district, but he's a pretty good congressman.

This is great news!

According to Fox News this was in response to the White House cancelling White House tours effective March 9th due to sequestration.

Maybe both sides will get into a*****ing contest and start cutting everything is site.

"No tours? OK then No Golf!"

"No Golf? OK then no National Parks!"

"No Parks? OK then no EPA!"

"No EPA? OK then no Post Office!"

"No Post Office? OK then no school lunches!"

"No School Lunches? OK then no Obama-Care!"

etc.
etc.
etc.

J_g,

That would be beyond beautiful.

More Louie here. BTW, the Houston Chronicle is not a great supporter of my congressman (but they are okay with Sheila Jackson Lee).

Clinton 'skewed it lower alright, He was on vacation right at the Oval Office Desk ala Ms. Lewinski on a regular basis...

Personally I didn't have a problem with him ****ing ugly interns as long as it didn't cost the Taxpayers and the ugly Cocksucking Intern didn't end up elevated as some kind of 'Czar' with power over Other People and a huge salary and bennies for having taken Bill on a ten minute Oval Office Vacation™.
