High Crimes AND Misdemeanors

The title is the standard for impeachment, of course.

What are "high crimes and misdemeanors"? Whatever the people say they are.

Is instructing your staff to lie part of this process?

Is it when the lie relates to homicide committed against people who have committed no crime, were never indicted, were never convicted and are not even accused of wrongdoing?

"When I went through the process of becoming press secretary, one of the first things they told me was, you're not even to acknowledge the drone program," Gibbs said on MSNBC's "Up With Chris Hayes" on Sunday. "You're not even to discuss that it exists."

That meets my definition.

Many in Congress too believe he should be gone. I have even read articles on the need to impeach Obama from leftist bloggers. Now, ask yourself, why isn't this happening? Why hasn't anyone in the House put forward articles of impeachment? Here is my view - the elite want the president to have this authority. He works for them - and so does Congress. If you view this country as run on behalf of the elite by both political parties, a lot of wildly off-course policies, like a liberal democrat eschewing due process, start to make sense. In honor of Daniel Day Lewis Lincoln performance, which I thought was terrific, the film was not historically accurate, per my memory of reading Eric Foners histories on this period in College. I plan to go back and look at them again. One thing I do recall is that Lincoln did not free all the slaves, just the ones that were in the southern states in order to undermine the confederacys war effort by freeing their slaves, many of whom became Union soldiers. He knowingly kept other blacks in slavery. In that movie you get an idea of the type of politics involved in getting anything passed in the cauldron of central politics.
