Grumpy - you're great - I love talking to you - but you really pushed a button with that trite quote :
Quote:
Expect lots and lots of tragic boating accidents in New York should something that extreme pass.
I've seen this quote a thousand times on this board and elsewhere on the net. It's trite idiocy.
I do not understand why someone who believes this even bothers - so they go 'pretend' their guns are 'lost' and bury them in their backyard. FOR WHAT ? How long do they have to push you around before you say enough is enough. You just going to keep backing up and backing up forever ?
Bottom line : Just what IS your line in the sand ? They're threatening confiscation and the best you can do is 'pretend' your guns are lost ?
Man the **** up.
In this Fourth Turning you ****ing PICK SIDES because you do NOT get to be just another bystander this time -
When they start confiscating guns is when the TRUE 3 percenters start USING them.
The rest is all masturbation.

I think its nervous humor. This time...in my heart of hearts...its gonna happen. On my mothers side I have blood from Brigadier General Francis Marion "The Swamp Fox". I grew up thinking this way since I can remember. I am 52 and have too much to lose by doing nothing and everything to lose by doing something. It scares the living **** out of me and no one knows how I feel about this.
Ulster...I know how you feel. I feel the same way. Though I don't have much, losing it all has no appeal, and whether I fight or not, losing it all is likely in any scenario.
Jota...Yup, we're all toast.
Given the above, and still being relatively "free" men/women, our choice becomes: Do we just shut up and take it, or do we fight it?
I have already made my decision.

Ulster - same age here - and same viewpoint in life.
All my life I have always avoided conflict whenever I could. I don't even LIKE guns - I'm not a 'gun' guy - I view them as tools, like the hammers I own - I don't 'love' my hammer, or think it would be 'fun' to go out and hammer a bunch of nails.
And drb is right - 97 percent of people are followers, they 'follow' football teams, they wait for their buddies or some 'leader' to agree or approve before they embark on some task. And they will use those other methods as posed on the front page. But on some people they will not work. I do not seek conflict but I absolutely positively will not back down if they put my back against the wall and it has nothing to do with being macho, it has to do with the fact that I have kids and if I do not stand up now and fight for my beliefs then I have failed as a father, as a husband, as a human ****ing being.
And at 52, what difference does it make - I'm not going to get younger stronger or prettier from this point on. And my family would be sad but they can make it without me if they had to. They love me and I love them, but they don't need me.
Something like 35% of 'Americans' would agree to a full body cavity search to get on an airplane on this country. Those are not humans as I understand the term. Those are animals. They are incapable of rational intelligent thought. It is a very harsh thing to say I know but it is the truth. And THAT is what all those 'other' people out there, your average voters and citizens are like.
And that's their choice, that is their life. But it is not mine and when they push me far enough into a corner I will fight back.
I'd say Cuomo's just a stroke of the pen away from that.
Anyways - enough hot air - I gotta go out this morning and buy a gun today - wondering if there will be any left on the shelves LOL.

A good lesson about Australia's compulsory "gun buyback" program...
I have no doubt they'll pursue the same thing here....no doubt.
I'm afraid it'll turn out like it did in the past election - we are just out numbered today. I'll bet that if you left it up to a majority vote in this country, all semi-auto guns would be banned.

I am losing friends over this ****. Had a "friend" tell me her daughter wouldn't be allowed in my home anymore due to the fact that we have guns (based on some comments I made on FB about not giving up my right to protect my family). Really? So the fact that my husband is willing to protect your daughter if some bad guy breaks into our house makes you not want to associate with us anymore? Like we have guns just laying all over the place? Maybe I don't want my daughter over at your house b/c you DON'T have guns. This is my line in the sand. I will not compromise nor apologize for my stance here.
"You can't buy parts for them any more so effectively all they have to do is let the clock wind down. I tried to find a replacement bolt carrier group last night."
JOnx, I think that people will be buying 3-D printers to solve this problem. My dad told me that (that idiot) Rachel Maddow was on TV showing how a 3-D printer could be used to make a replacement gun part. Also you really could always hand tool it if your were desperate, couldn't you? People did in the old days. It might not be safe or pretty, but it would work.
OMG. Done debating some libtard on FB about this. He says "There are many options but more guns is not the answer."
So I say, " live in Houston, about 5 hours from Mexico, the home of some of the worst gun violence in the world. Our failed war on drugs has caused all these gun cartels, gangs, etc. Lots of them have ended up here in Houston. The M16 gang is present in my neighborhood. So no matter how much you want to live in a Utopian society where everyone has "evolved" and no one has guns, that isn't the world we live in. Bad people have guns. In order to defend myself against them I need them too.
If a criminal wants a weapon he will get one. What exactly is your solution to a madman with a gun that bursts into your home, your school, the restaurant you are in, the store, etc? You can talk about restrictions, laws, etc but again, criminals don't give a dang. So please please explain how to protect yourself under these circumstances.
So then his answer: "I think the most important issue is not to let the debate of what to do about mass killings stop. To often with time the issue slides to a back burner until something happens again. What ever your opinion is that's fine as long as we don't let the problem be forgotten."
WTF? You have no answer dumbass!! You didn't even try to answer the question of protecting yourself b/c you know I am right!! I am going to throw something at the monitor here. These people are so ****ing stupid it is unbelievable.
Msheffi972, I am losing friends over this too. It hasn't progressed like your situation has, though.
What has happened is that I've gradually lost all respect for people who not only refuse to defend their selves & family, but would gladly deny me my right to defend myself as well. I don't need them in my life.
I'm no longer speaking to my brother in law. He personally attacked my entire family and ended with the notion that my sister (his wife) was adopted. He's apologizing profusely now... but I can't see how I can forgive him for believing that I'm state property and subject to tyranny of the masses... wow, no win situation.
I never understood how brother could fight on opposite sides in Civil War 1. I guess I understand now.
I suspect carnival barker Cuomo just got a Christmas bonus from some gun store association in New York State. I bet today there is a line wrapped around the block three times over at every gun and munitions shop from Staten Island to Adriondack State Park.
The chances of his gun-free utopia materializing are about the same as me hitting the mega-millions lotto drawing on Christmas Day.

Why couldn't the issue of gun laws be left up to the States to determine on their own? I'm from Connecticut and live now in South Carolina. I didn't know anyone who owned guns up in Connecticut but in South Carolina, everyone seems to have them. It's a completely different culture. South Carolina is not Connecticut just like Montana is not New Jersey.
they will: freeze your bank account and credit cards flag your license for harassment by the police and prevent renewal or even tow your cars cancel your insurances on home, car, business turn off your utilities issue a no tress pass for your children to attend public school sieze your state and federal tax refunds all types of statist things until you fold
This post gets it right in my opinion.
First, you have to understand the law enforcement cultural foundation of 'officer safety' first and foremost. Their tactics and planning will focus primarily on 'sanctioning' the recalcitrant law breaking gun owner. That as the vastly preferred course of action that will bring all the officers home every night to be with the family, especially their children.
'Sanctioning' has a kind of nice ring to it don't you think? Sorta 'protective' sounding. Almost angelic and faith based. It 'protects' YOU from 'further consequences' of being a threat to society. Sanctions, simply put are good for you.
Don't turn in our firearms and see how fast 'sanctions' will apply to you.
First they use the 'citizens protective' law to obtain court order against you. Things such as freezing your bank account for starters. Asset forfeiture is also a big favorite. Depart work for the evening, only to find your parking space empty. Your car is gone. The 'authorities' had is towed while you were in your office, on the computer, here online reading TF postings. Officer safety intact. You never even saw them standing by as your car was dragged out of it's spot.
Do you have a professional license? Perhaps to practice law? Physician? Or just have a guard card just getting by on minimum wage? Not anymore you don't! Your credit card no longer swipes and your bank account has been seized too. In short, you won't have any independence and will be totally reliant ON OTHERS to survive as your own resources will be either taken or access denied.
And 'they' won't even be in range to get a retaliatory shot. Not even close.
That, unless YOU go and get THEM. In which case, you get charged as an aggressor, not one intent on self protection. In that case, law enforcement will invoke it's right to protect ITSELF against YOU.
Yes, this is the very convoluted and yet premeditated thinking our 'authorities' engage in every day. Ask any person who has experienced how police put down public demonstrations and you will know firsthand how the law is twisted, bent, molded and changed on the fly to preserve the power position against you. One posting, down the page from this one, points to the nature of how law is created. In the example presented, firearm declaration appears on a 1040 tax return page. Fib about it and you officially state, with your own signature attached, your status as a felon. No doubt, small print indicating the terms of fine and prison.
You will eventually find out that the USA only sugar coats and puts a pretty face on what is otherwise not much different than any other police state in the world. Behave yourself and things will be just fine. As the officials in North Korea like to say about their country: 'A land of peace and tranquility'.
Pull out your guns and you will find out for yourself just how easily the state will step right around your paltry threat.

When the Nazi's broke every law when coming to power, people in later years were asked, how were they allowed to do it? The answer was easy: They Simply Did It.
Dont worry about them taking our guns? Its what they want to do after that we need to worry about. The funny part is with a straight face they will tell you, We know whats best. In complete denial that they are always dead wrong.
We all need to start yelling the truth to power. As often as we can. Ideas are more powerful than guns. Paul Krugman has become a joke. All because people started telling the truth to him directly to his face. The simple truth is hard to argue with. It has always been so.
Buy the time we start shooting we will have already lost. We will lose a shooting war with the beast. Ask your self why the beast must attack all the truth tellers. Its the one thing the beast fears.
they will: freeze your bank account and credit cards flag your license for harassment by the police and prevent renewal or even tow your cars cancel your insurances on home, car, business turn off your utilities issue a no tress pass for your children to attend public school sieze your state and federal tax refunds all types of statist things until you fold
A person with nothing left to lose is truly free. And potentially very dangerous.

“Whenever the legislators endeavor to take away and destroy the property of the people, or to reduce them to slavery under arbitrary power, they put themselves into a state of war with the people, who are thereupon absolved from any further obedience.” - John Locke
The solution is not for us to start shooting at the feds. The solution is for the states to start telling the feds ``no,'' and making it stick.
Don't waste your time on federal issues. Work to elect men and women to state offices who will tell the feds they can't do that in your state, or move to a state where that's reasonably feasible. Look to elect governors and legislators who will turn down federal money - that's the starting point, and that's going to terrify the feds like nothing else.
Sooner or later will make it almost impossible to own a gun legally. shortly after that, people will start killing using home made bombs or burning stuff to the ground or both.
