In the interview, Mr. Cuomo did not offer specifics about the measures he might propose, but, while discussing assault weapons, he said: “Confiscation could be an option. Mandatory sale to the state could be an option. Permitting could be an option — keep your gun but permit it.”
Oh really Andrew?
You might get away with that in some parts of the state, but in others.......
This ought to be interesting to watch -- from a distance.

And even if they do not get to ban guns and take them THIS TIME doesn't mean anything.
The next ``big`` crisis on guns will be in the 2016-2018 timeframe when Scalia and Kennedy get replaced by radical anti-guns ala Kagan and Sotomayor. Scalia and Kennedy are 76 years old...
When they go and they are replaced, the anti-guns will be 6 Antonin Scalia's replacement Anthony Kennedy's replacement Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement (to retire probably around 2016) Stephen Breyer Sonia Sotomayor Elena Kagan vs 3 John Roberts Clarence Thomas Samuel Alito
The next election (if the can can be kicked that long) will be crucial and that doesn't mean democrat vs republican (since Romney was anti-gun too)...
And it might not even be that long depending on diseases, heart attacks, things behind the scene that happen to the judges... not to mention, trusting any of these supposed ``pro-guns`` judges would be a mistake.

Has there ever been a physical reaction, for more than a few days, in the history of this country when a law has been passed? Other than when we were founded?
If passed, I hope the count will be two.

You are not what you say you are, You are what you do.
confiscation or mandatory sale to the state could be an option?
they are getting really bold, aren't they?
of course, americans contributed to that with this last election because we basically said that we are completely apathetic to what is happening in this country.
I can't stand that our government surrenders to terrorists and mentally ill murderers.
I remember very early on 9/11 the first successful counter offensive in the war were ordinary citizens who had a battle cry of, "let's roll".
From that moment on the government became involved, surrendered, and never trusted citizen warriors again. They sold them out and we have to pay every time we travel.

The trashcan of the nation
You can't buy parts for them any more so effectively all they have to do is let the clock wind down. I tried to find a replacement bolt carrier group last night. Sheeeeeeeeit. Not one for sale anywhere outside of eBay where the price for $100 parts was 3x what it was last week with dozens bidding. If you take a malfunctioning AR to a smith now he will tell you tough **** because there is ZERO access to any new parts until spring at least. It's bad out there.

The fraud and lies are only allowed to continue because the people allow it. Either through apathy or ignorance, they still allow it.
Hey FBI and HS (Whom probably will have me on 'the list' for saying this, if they don't already).
Edit: On more reflective thought I think this would be my personal line in the sand.

* I think Ann Barnhardt is more and more right. God help us! * Progressives / Marxists / Communists are many things, STUPID and IMPATIENT are not two of them. * A hot civil war is coming. * And people wonder why I prep!
I can see them giving this a test run in New York.
The only ones who have guns in NY are the cops and Bloomberg's bodyguards. Getting a gun in NY is almost impossible.

Thats when Twitter, FB and all other social media outlets will be "useful" - Confiscation Crew on 32nd and High Street - meet there to "protest!"
Protest with high speed lead... and you bet anyone using FB or Twitter to say that will be prosecuted and charged with accessory to whatever the gun confiscation crew gets greeted with.
Hopefully gun owners won't make the same mistake than the Russians did.

“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn't love freedom enough. And even more – we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.” - Aleksandr I. Solzhenitsyn
Expect lots and lots of tragic boating accidents in New York should something that extreme pass.
At this point, it would be far better if people would stand up and say "MOLON LABE!" instead of talking about "losing" their guns in tragic boating accidents. The grabbers will be almost as happy if people bury their guns as if they turn 'em in. Will that get you put on a list? Probably, but that's a good thing! Lets make sure that list is so long that they realize they will lose if they try this crap. Stand up and be counted!

Land of Tax and Spend
You can count on this reaction from the politicians in NY. I have a friend that used to live in NJ. He has a collection of weapons. He said you would have the whole police force on you if you mounted your gun in the back of your pickup like in the western states. People in the eastern states have been on edge about guns for years. All they needed was a reason to start confiscation.

When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty. - Thomas Jefferson
It was Bush Sr. you see who UNILATERALLY imposed the first gun ban and he did it extra-judicially.
Like someone elsewhere said, I didnt draw a line in the sand, I carved it in granite.
It's kind of quaint to read those articles and view the numbers they are hyperventilating about, OMG 100,000 a year - HAHA I bet they could sell 100k a DAY right now. And violent crime has dropped almost 50% since then with probably 50+ million more people in the country.
Again - this is a Fourth Turning thing - the institutions that have run this country for more than 7 decades are in full PANIC mode BECAUSE THEY ARE LSOING CONTROL - and that is why they are ratcheting up the rhetoric to what I consider treasonous levels. They have pushed and pushed and pushed until finally our backs are almost, but not quite against the wall. At some point in the next 5 years, we WILL find our backs against the wall and then all hell breaks loose.
It's like that scene in the Hunt for Red October where the admiral says, "This business will get out of control! It will get out of control and we'll be lucky to live through it."
This country is completely split - probably even in 3 parts, NOT 2 - you have Reds, Blues and then you have those of us who believe in Freedom - we are fiscally conservative constitutionalists who believe the govt has no business in the bedrooms or most other aspects of our lives.
I see no way of healing such rifts and every day they seem to just grow wider and wider. It does not take a genius to see that the end game is going to be actually fighting in the streets.

There are decades where nothing happens - and there are weeks where decades happen.
Given history, namely how easily people have accepted many of their rights taken away by state (air travel turning into strip searches, erosion of habeas corpus, etc), my guess is that if the "elites" decide, the population will surrender guns. Simply they have to take guns away slowly, initial restrictions, them make buying more difficult, then ban. And to those who babble about shooting at those who will take your guns - would be interesting to see what happens if swat team arrives to your house. You will turn over your guns and sign a "thank you" note for taking away your guns.
Sorry for being a pessimist, but I have lived in 3 countries and have seen how it works. Most people are brave "keyboard warriors" or "kitchen dissidents". When state comes for them, they will do what state wants. Will change only if family does not have food.
If somehow this does pass in some form in various states, know who your friends and neighbors are. Make sure they believe in the same things you do. If any try to go it alone, you're going to get steamrolled.
My across-the-street neighbor and I often joke about methods of signaling each other when the Confiscation Crews show up. Neither of us feel that standing behind the Crew when they knock on the door is a very safe place to be and our front doors are only about 150' apart. While grillng out the other night we were discussing "move to the back of the house" drills.
It is all in jest, of course. I'll be clearing my front porch with a shotgun and he'll be doing the same so the danger is minimal. Still, we're happy each of us is thinking of the other as we both have the ability to hit the house behind the other. Mine's brick, though, having remembered the Three Pigs.
Had a co-worker derisively chide me the other day with the old "they'll get your guns when they pry them from your cold, dead, fingers, eh Thumpher?" "No", I replied, "after they step over the bodies of their comrades who were standing in front I figure my hands will still be warm and twitching. No prying required".

I agree. If I'm one of the first they come to I'll probably give them what they have on their list and sign what they want. But word will get out and cooperation won't last long.
