I have not read all the comments yet but a Gun-Free School Zone is nothing more than a "Killing Zone" created by the Government. When was the last time you heard one of these nut cases attacking a Police Station? Just think about it!

Just a passing thought...
In this country, what things are protected by armed guards? What things are protected, that much of the population looks at and sees as reasonable? Banks have armed guards. Armored cars have armed guards. Military bases, court houses, politicians, some warehouses... Can you think of more? Do these things have higher value than our children, and therefore require greater defense and deterrent?

indeep: you have hit the nail on the head. a society SHOULD guard what is important and precious to it. there should be no argument about whether or not to put armed guards in schools. Question: are children important to our society. Answer: yes Logic: then they should be protected.

armed guards could also assist by monitoring children for Child Abuse and signs of neglect - both of which kill hundreds of children every year and probably more than a few in your own city. with the proper training and positioning, armed guards could not just 'guard' children but help them with other societal issues.

in terms of physical violence: in the Eastern Hemisphere schools are targeted more than you can imagine by Radical Isalmists, Taliban, etc. Having guards at school is quite customary because these people DO care about their children. Christ, even in Pakistan the school guard has at least a stick (ie, billy club).

Also, you do realize that the blowback from the Media coverage of Sandy Hook is they have just shown pretty much every terrorists, mental case,evil bastard in the world the one place in american society where they can become famous overnight for an act of horror.

BTW--the Taliban are on a rampage in Pakistan - killing children and polio vaccination workers.

some things never change and schools should have an armed guard. if you have children in a school you should consider how safe they are there. the liberals will never realize that.
