A bit of shameless self-promotion.....

This is why I put up videos on the market a few times a week, and is an excellent example of the opportunities that can present themselves within the market!

Things are looking pretty grim all the sudden. My indicator went from "hold 60 days" to "SELL" in the space of two days. A similar thing happened on july 26, 2011. (For the lulz, look up the chart for that week!)

JB, I have great respect for the JB Indicator, but I need some clarification. Are your reservations specific to NOK or are the for the broader markets?

Thanks JB

The last time I tried to sign up and be a gold member (which was a couple of years ago) it would not let me unless I had paypal. I have never had paypal and do not want paypal... are there any other payment options now?

Griff, always the broader market. I dont think NOK cares too much about the broader market right now though!

I pay with a debit visa just fine though? I get the paypal screen - I do have an unfunded paypal account - but I reject paypal and it goes right to credit card. Never paid much attention to the process but I thought it takes credit cards too.

Yes, it does. But some people don't like using PayPal AT ALL.

$455 is not randomly chosen

JB,

Many of the indicators I observe are suggesting the same thing after today's move, but the only thing that could trigger an August 2011 level of volatility would be a complete political deadlock in Washington

I just do not see that, given the present desire to preserve the status quo. I'm a buyer right now.

Savings,

Consider the inverese of your cause and effect relationship. Perhaps a market panic might lead to a political climate in which an increase in the debt limit and aggresive spending increases (e.g. more stimulus) would be more palatable to the general public.

Until I see evidence to the contrary, I expect politicians will continue spending other peoples' money to generate and wield political power. But first, they need an increase in the debt ceiling.

There are only three outcomes I see happening before December 21st:

1. Total can kick; all current fiscal policies preserved for another year and debt ceiling raised (market jizzes it's pants initially, then perhaps collapses once recognition sets in that we will face the same cliff again only worse in 12 months)

2. Partial can kick - most policies continue but only for 3 months ; maybe the payroll tax cut expires and the middle class bush tax cuts survive - surely the market would not like it as there would be no certainty.

3. We go over the cliff - market fills it's pants with last night's dinner.

2/3 are bad for long traders and as Griff points out there might need to be a panic to force action.
