Do NOT Vote For Gary ("I'm A Congenital Liar") Johnson

Sorry folks, you just can't do it.

Here's the short list of lies, and it's not exhaustive.

Nobody committed any crimes. You remember that, right? From here and, originally, from here back in 2010.
I will submit a balanced budget. Oh really? Well, history says he didn't in New Mexico. Oh, I know, he claims he balanced the budget, but he did it like Clinton with new debt, which means he played "cook the books." Legal, but a lie nonetheless. Worse, his campaign has chronically been in debt, so he can't even balance his own campaign's budget! How many bites at the apple do you get on a claim when you have proof via someone's actions that they will do exactly the opposite?
Debates should be open to all candidates. In fact Johnson sued over this under anti-trust law -- a law that many Libertarians claim shouldn't exist! (I happen to disagree with them on this, by the way.) But Johnson wasn't done being a hypocrite about his belief in free and open access to debates; oh no, he was just getting started! Now he's going to participate in the alternative debate that is excluding two of the original four candidates based on their less-favorable polling numbers -- the very same criteria under which he was excluded from the "prime time" debates! So his claimed belief in open access was a lie as well --all he cared about was being in the privileged position and as soon as he got it he didn't give a damn about so-called "open access to debate"! You can't make stuff like this up -- nobody would believe you unless it was documented as truth!

One falsehood can be a mistake, an error of judgment, or something similar.

But a pattern of hypocrisy and falsehood is something else entirely. And on that point with Johnson we've had plenty of examples over this campaign, including the utterly disastrous interview with Mr. Wenzel in which he lied directly to Robert during the interview about what he had read and understood and got caught live on the air.

There is only a week before the election and the rhetoric is piling up fast. So are the people trying to bamboozle you on Facebook, Twitter and other media, along with in-person entreaties via phone, email and political advertisement.

Don't fall for it; if you must vote for evil, and any candidate who has demonstrated during the campaign that they will lie about their record, lie about their principles and lie about what they have read and what they know is evil incarnate, then go "all the way" and write in either Beelzebub or Cthulu.

At least that way you can say you voted for the greater of evils and stood on principle.

I'd submit that writing in fictional characters on the ballot (as good as that might feel) is ultimately ineffectual (unless 50 million people write in Beelzebub lol). As always in politics it depends on how you gauge success. Johnson has been utterly sucessful in chasing as many libertarians as possible to the red and blue sith lords for reprogramming. Jymm Posts: 74 Incept: 2012-01-22 Wisconsin	While I agree, and will not vote for Gary Johnson, (I made that mistake with Bob Barr), I am not sure who or what to do. I was sorry to see Bill end his write in campaign, that was going to be my vote. I am considering the libertarian idea (small l) of just not voting for bad candidates. The problem with that is who knows it is a protest and not just apathy? Imagine if both candidates mustered only 1 or 2 % of the population, how would they legitimatize their government? We know that won't ever happen. As long as the average citizen/voter continues blind loyalty to corrupt parties it will never change. All I hear is we have to get rid of Obama, but is an Obama\Bush clone, (Romeny, Johnson) really the answer? I know in the long run my one vote will not change the election. I will probably go to the polls, and leave many major offices blank, voting where change can be effected at the state and local level. I disagree a bit on this point. The debate commission signs an agreement with the Repub/Democrat candidates that prevents them from participating in other debates, while setting the terms of choosing candidates in such a way that makes it practically impossible for a 3rd party candidate to get in. That sort of exclusion isn't what happened in this case. Johnson isn't (AFAIK) locked into refusing other debates by debating Jill Stein. 2012-10-31 17:20:37 Permalink

You are right as usual Karl, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to vote for him anyway just because of the nonsense from the PA Republican party suing to remove Lib candidates from the ballot. And even though I was bemoaning the lack of fundamentals in tonight's NBA game, and I am a registered R, I am still at least 20 years away from being able to vote for a Rethuglican. Although I guess would have to seriously consider voting for Christie. My main problem with Christie is that he seems to enjoy power too much, regardless of his policies, I consider that a very dangerous trait in a leader. But I guess that perhaps it is time to heed the words of Arthur Schopenhauer, who said that he would rather be ruled by a lion than one of his fellow rats. Sorry that was a bit all over the place. I haven't had too much sleep the last few days since my mattress and boxspring are in the Atlantic ocean.
