never heard of either of them, so i looked them up and found this on nancy cassis:
Main article: Michigan Senate As a Michigan Senator who initially ran against Dick DeVos, she dropped out of the contest before Michigan's 2006 gubernatorial Republican primary. [2] In the Michigan Senate she served as the Majority Caucus Chairperson and introduced the Michigan Business Tax, which was eventually repealed by conservative governor Rick Snyder.
right there i wouldn't vote for her if i lived in michigan.

Yep. I already nailed her on the Business Tax. The way it was done was sleazy as hell and she's tried to duck responsibility for it.

I don't know much about either of these candidates. But I do know that the illegals who have successfully evaded capture at the US border and made it into the interior of the United States should not even be given consideration to remain here and live amongst us. At least not in a soveriegn and civilized land. There is a solution. It's called mandatory E-Verify. And there is such a bill that is currently being stalemated by the Republicans in charge of the House, Ways and Means Committee and willfully prevented from going to the House floor for a full vote.
If the border is sealed it can easily get unsealed with the right cast of clowns running the show in DC. If you open the spigot and let the water flood your basement you can turn off the spigot temporarily - but you still have the water damage to contend with. And then some clown can come by later and turn it back on again.
We need clean the interior of the US of illegal migrants so that they stop stealing jobs from Americans and sucking our resources dry. Comprehensive Immigration Reform (code for Amnesty) does not fix the problem. It only adds to it. We have all the mechanisms in place to deal with unlawful immigration today. It simply is not being enforced. The spigot is left running intentionally and the damage from the water saturation is not being addressed.
Until that happens nothing gets fixed.

So, along with our war on drugs, we should start a defense war on the border? Waste of money; security yes, starting point of a solution, no. Take away the reason the come; that's the ticket...and you won't need anyone to guard the border...figuratively of course, not literally. If we want to take advantage of them for profit (aka...to do the jobs Americans won't do), then lets issue tickets good for a work period...tax them like everyone else and then send them home with the leftover pennies. Come to think of it, if you want to end illegal immigration...the the IRS is probably the best starting point... make illegal immigrant labor non tax deductible for the employer and lets hit the illegal workers with a 50% income tax. If the company fails to abide by the new laws, each offense would be 30 days in the slammer for the CEO, head accountant and Hiring manager...that should guarantee compliance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Quote:It's called mandatory E-Verify. And there is such a bill that is currently being stalemated by the Republicans in charge of the House, Ways and Means Committee and willfully prevented from going to the House floor for a full vote. Say what!? Republicans are pro-illegal immigration...lol! PS> I'm not laughing because I don't believe you, actually, I do...I'm laughing at all the Dumb Ass Republicans I know that think Mittens and boys are going to fix illegal immigration.

I am laughing at those that think mittens is going to fix anything, period. My dad was against mittens prior to him becoming the official nominee. Now he is rabidly for him! GO FIGURE! He's preaching to me all the time how I need to vote for him, or else obama will win. BFD, they are one and the same. He does not get it, blind to all the stuff I send him from here, Zero Hedge, Mish, etc.
Heck my dad is a gun owner (many of them), and he does not even believe the stuff I send him on obomney's anti-gun stance.
I gather most republicans are like this? I have always considered myself a republican, and my eyes are open to the crap going on this time around.
As for the topic of the thread, the bitch needs to be swinging from a lamp post.

I'm a whole lot more worried about the human trafficking for enslavement in the sex industry, the kids who are being trafficked, the people who are being brought in and held hostage until the families back home cough up extra money to the coyotes. The OTMs, "other than Mexicans" are making up a large proportion of those who are crossing illegally. Of course, there are Central Americans and South Americans who are looking for work, but there are Mideasterners and Asians too. The construction industry is not exactly smoking hot right now. I don't see the job market as providing such a draw anymore. Sure, the office cleaning jobs have not all dried up, but from what I understand the mix of illegal immigrants has changed.

To quote Dr. Savage: "Borders, language, culture".
Without these, we have no country to protect.
Our borders need to be secured - Mr. Bentivolio is decidedly in favor of this.
Our language needs to be set, with English as the obvious choice.
Our culture needs to be protected - Want to immigrate? Fine. Once here legally, integrate into OUR culture. Don't expect us to change to accommodate your former culture.
Now that I have read the Cassis mailing, I am fully aware that she will say anything to get elected...up to and including libel/slander.
She needs to be prosecuted, not elected.

Look, California is on the verge of approving AB 1081 which I call 'The California State Illegal Alien Sanctuary Act'. Essentially it prohibits local cops from cooperating with Federal authorities and turning over illegal aliens for deportation unless they've committed a violent felony. A felony is fine - as long as it wasn't violent. heh. Go research it. Do you folks understand the ramification of this - not only for California - but for our entire Union?
This is a direct violation of official sworn oaths of office(to uphold the laws of the United States and the US Constitution) with every 'yea' vote. And the California Senate has already approved it - and there's a 99.9% chance the Assembly follows suit and the governor signs it.
Today the cross-sworn local police raid the medicinal marijuana shops (approved by the CA voters) throughout California and we are told it's legal since Federal law supercedes State law. The State pols do nothing to stop it and tell us they are bound to honor Federal law. Yet now the State pols are voting to defy and violate Federal law by refusing to turn illegal aliens over to the Feds once AB 1081 passes. Go figure. Each law is either honored or defied based on the pols own predilections.
I see hardly any pushback on any of this. Silence from the Republican pols. Silence from the media. Silence from the electorate. Sorry, it's over. Done. Shake it and bake it. Put it in a bag and I'll take it.

I never understood why politicians were not prosecuted for libel. It isn't "rhetoric" it's just lies. The lies are easily provable too.
Anyways.
Republicans will never close the border and evict people who shouldn't be here. They would immediately be called "racists" merely for upholding existing laws and would be removed from office by hysterical voters who are too stupid to understand how illegal immigration undermines the country and its finances.
Look at California, I have lived here all my life and as long as I can remember Hispanics have been pandered to one way or another by people who feel guilty. In return the have the hispanics have the highest high school dropout rate, the highest % of single mothers, sky high crime rates, use of welfare, and more.

Apparently the Detroit News wanted in on the action: The Detroit News wrote..Fixing the 11th District of Michigan BY MAKO YAMAKURA
Take the title both ways if you like.
Applaud Rep. Thaddeus “Crazy Train” McCotter, who resigned abruptly, and set off a series of awfully-coincidental events, first and foremost a special election that robs the only petition-qualified candidate (Kerry Bentivolio) of a fair primary race.
Clap your hands at the marvel of partisanship and establishment politics. This special election disenfranchises a district re-written for only one side of the aisle, completely sidesteps the process of our election law, and yet still is legal.
Welcome to the establishment. And remember, the $650,000 cost of the special election is courtesy of resigned and pitiful Thad McCotter. He knew what consequences his immediate resignation would have, and it’s a duty to yell out this true betrayal from the rooftops.
In the announcement by Lt. Gov. Brian Calley (who is King Cheese while Gov. Snyder is out of town), we’re going to have a special primary election before a special general election. For those in the old MI-11, you’re in for a doozy.
Fans of Kerry Bentivolio are incensed, because the special election eliminates the need for actually having due process of law, nomination petitions, and well, all the physical laws of a primary. We are in a quantum election state, because why follow the rules when you can simply bend space and time to achieve the desired result?
The timing of the announcement should be recognized as a final send-off for the completely and utterly specious Rep. Thad McCotter taking one for the establishment. When the news broke that Thad’s writings were going to David Wu him (channeling his inner Larry Flynt upon blogger SE Cupp) it was clear that Thad’s days were numbered. So they gave him the deal of a lifetime. Sell out the entire district by resigning, and force a special to allow the MIGOP to handpick a successor.
Add in a ridiculously verbose resignation by McCotter, with words unused since Botticelli had a brush, and you’ve got a “clean” narrative for resignation, and one that seems all the more suspect. After all, his staff betrayed him, but will AG Scheutte pursue criminal charges after this noble deed of helping the MIGOP hold the handcrafted district?
From the media angle, it’s a perfect storyline. A Representative publicly self-destructs, but actually doesn’t. Note that this current iteration of faux outrage started when someone leaked a script. It’s not Rep. Anthony Weiner, or even really David Wu. For McCotter, a well-timed resignation that just happens to also be perfectly timed to force a special election.
Here’s the kicker from the State of Michigan regarding the August 7th primary (my emphasis in bold):
“…the timing of McCotter’s resignation makes that impossible. Primary ballots already were printed and absentee ballots were mailed when McCotter made his announcement. In addition, ballots must be sent to Michigan voters who are overseas or serving in the military at least 45 days before an election, which means the special primary election must be held on a different date than Aug. 7. The special primary will be Wednesday, Sept. 5. That still allows for the special general election to fill the vacancy to be held in conjunction with the regularly scheduled Nov. 6 general election…By issuing the call for a special election today, the governor’s action allows candidates adequate time to collect the required 1,000 petition signatures for ballot access by Friday, July 20.“
Adequate time? Wasn’t it enough time already before this entire mess? That’s the key to why this is a partisan screen. They have to “re-mail” ballots, because nothing can be left to chance. As well, why are we talking about adequate time when ballots were already mailed? Mailed ballots are already out there, so the only benefit to change all of this is for the MIGOP primary election, not the Constitution-provided right for election of our House Reps.
This is only about the primary, not the claim of following the Constitution.
When Rep. Thad McCotter resigned, the date was effective as immediate. This creates the environment for a special election, but also “alternate rules” that allow ballots to be re-written or re-sent. Heck, Thad McCotter could requalify on the printed ballot under these alternative rules.
I won’t even go into the nonsense of gerrymandering, but the entire point of this election is simply to prevent Kerry Bentivolio from a fair race he rightly won. It’s not even about Democrats. For a special election, you have to go to “alternate rules”. Consider “alternate rules” as deciding that 2 weeks before the Super Bowl, other teams can “write-in” for the game, even if they didn’t qualify.
In the special, candidates are now basically free agents, removed of the need or requirement to do what they normally would have done in a general election. Now in “alternate rules”, you only need 1,000 petition signatures by July 20th to appear on the ballot.
Oh my, yes. These newly-qualified July 20th nominees will appear printed on the ballot.
They found a way to completely sidestep law. This is actually quite intelligent as well. Spend $650,000 to prevent Kerry Bentivolio from being the only printed nominee for the GOP primary, because “alternate rules” apply here. If it were normal rules, we would only see Mr. B’s (no relation to burgers) name on the GOP primary ballot, with a blank spot for write-ins.
Now that we are in “alternate rules”, special ballots will be printed, which means you can qualify for a spot on the ballot at a discount and past the deadline. Who needs rules here?
I also have information indigestion…While there’s a MI-11 mess, does this affect all of the other races? After all, why should it? The only problem here is in the MI-11th, but that means voters here have to vote three times. One for the Aug. 7th regular, one for the Sept. 5th special, and then one for the November 6th special general, which isn’t special for anyone outside the district…
For those in the old MI-11th, you will vote for a Rep. for November 2012 – January 2013, then on the same ballot, vote for a Rep. from January 2013 to January 2015. Per the law, the MI-11th that existed last year now has no representation. 650,000 people (ironic!) are now without representation until November, and we’re out $650,000 in tax revenue to boot. (**And from a news commenter, I realized that after redistricting, some local communities will have to pay for an election in a district that won’t exist next year!**)
Oh the Calumny!
Mako out.
