As for corn - in southern Illinois there will be lots of fields that grow less than 20 bushels an acre. Lots of fields.

Damn, it rained here this spring. Corn probably near ready for harvest. Better be, as I doubt there will be much rain coming.

As far as Kudlow goes, he was in government. The crook bent is normal business from what he knows. The CNBS crew likes their heros. Seems they love the guys who have it set on the tee by the government. Keep crying for Germany to go broke to rescue their bull market jobs. Network used to be part of the most fascist organization in America, GE, which was set up by JP Morgan. GE's head was crying for fascist solutions in the early 30's. Another fiction of rugged individualism.

As other have alluded to here, Larry's proverbial "animal spirits" went up his ****ing nose.....

In the long run even the most despotic governments with all their brutality and cruelty are no match for ideas. Eventually the ideology that has won the support of the majority will prevail and cut the ground from under the tyrant's feet and rise in rebellion to overthrow their masters.

Corn looks fantastic in Delaware (with the help of irrigation, of course). Better hope those wells don't go dry.

You forgot Jon Corzine is still on the loose, and the poster child of the ponzi age, Bernard Madoff, turned himself in.

Small business is the generator of most new employment. It is also a risk versus reward. Today there is no reward, only doubt. Cash is very valuable because of all of the uncertainty. Why would any reasonable person commit capital to something as uncertain as the future of a business when so many fail outright to begin with. Oh you were going to "borrow" the money from your local bankster? Good Luck! Not only will they make you over collateralize the loan, but it will have to be an SBA loan that the .gov has cosigned. The only kind of business that seems to be flourishing is hi-tech startups that the banksters can sink their teeth into. Most small businesses that I know of have had massive layoffs and are just hanging on until the election. If Obama wins, a large number will throw in the towel. Just wait and see what that does to economic numbers.

Re: Jefferson County. Keep banging the drums. Maybe add a few more and cymbals too.

You are probably aware of these and probably a dupe reference, but just in case.

Since some parents do not seem to have installed the sense of honesty, honor, and decency in some of their offspring (I am being somewhat facetious) I suppose it falls to the law - returning the rule of law - and then maybe the rest will fall into place. It will take time and much pain - if it isn't too late already.

Corn looking grim in SW Michigan, too.

Certainly made the "knee-high by the 4th of July" threshold, but it hasn't rained since May and the corn's gone from bright, shiny green to a faded grayish-green.

Just got an email from my cousin who takes care of our farm. South Central Illinois. He says our corn crop will be a total loss. We do have crop insurance though. CountryFinancial is going to lose their ass this year.
