My disagreement with Dershowitz is that Zimmerman only followed Trayvon after he took off running. While Trayvon may have only appeared suspicious before that point, his running only confirms that he was up to no good (to any reasonable person).

As for stalking, positioning your SUV in a manner where you can watch a suspicious person does not qualify as stalking or following.

Don't know if anyone has linked this Reuters piece, but it doesn't fit the race baiters' narrative at all.

The support for Zimmerman among the non-blacks in Florida seems high. Everyday people are thoroughly*****ed at how this has shaken out... and many are even more upset at their politicians for bowing to the race-hustling black activists like Sharpton.

I personally don't think the current charge will last through the arraignment and if so, it's a gift to Zimmerman's lawyer.

As Dershowitz says, Corey needs to be worrying about getting disbarred and catching a felony over her reckless pandering to the race-baiters.

I disagree with one part too. It's the part when he says that if there is a riot, it will be the fault of the prosecutor for giving the rioters false hope.

Ummm, I have a better idea. How about blaming the rioting on the people who are actually doing the rioting?

We can't do that, those people are black. Next best thing is to pin it on the first dumb white person...this time being the zealot prosecutor who was lickin her chops while pandering to emotions.

I agree with your opinion in this.

However, although Dershowitz is probably correct in his statements about this particular case (even a blind squirrel will occasionally find a nut), I believe he remains at heart a lawyer with an extremely liberal (in the current "liberal vs. conservative" paradigm) point of view. It seems that one of the key tenets of that POV is finding excuses to absolve certain segments of society of responsibility for their own actions.

One important difference between a prosecutor and defense attorney, (as a prosecutor once told me) is that while a defense attorney must defend his client no matter how guilty or evil he seems, a prosecutor must not proceed if he determines or suspects that the defendant is innocent. In this way, prosecutors, if they do their job properly, are more principled than defense attorneys and this is why the prosecution is required to present any evidence of a defendant's innocence to the defense.

Yes -- the prosecution is required to seek JUSTICE, not an outcome.

They also are barred as officers of the court (as are all officers of the court) from filing perjured affidavits. If she filed that affidavit while having knowledge of the photos that repudiate the claim that Zimmerman "pursued" or "attacked" Martin and did not disclose it she committed a crime in the State of Florida by filing a perjured affidavit.

She does not have qualified immunity in this case either, as her scope of employment requires her to file only truthful affidavits. As such her liability for that crime, if it occurred, is personal.

Yeah but he is correct in what he said. People become angry because an expectation is not met. If you falsely place an expectation out there, you have magnified an existing problem when Zimmerman is found not guilty.

What Cory has done is place powder bags into the cannon and now the fuse burns.

Talking this case over with my friends we've all kind gotten the impression that the media wants riots but for the life of me, I don't know why.

Sure but who's going to file the charges? Prosecutors are like cops, they stick together and close ranks when one of their own is accused of wrong doing. There's not a prosecutor in FL that would file charges against her. The best you could hope for is a complaint to the state bar, but even that won't get her more than a slap on the wrist if even that as the state bar is also full of statist lackeys.

Keewaydin listed a Reuters article.

The Reuters article says Zimmerman is 1/8 black ([edit, only one great] great grandfather).

Wow, just wow! The whole PC conversation is out the window.

I blame the media. If they would just report the facts instead of trying to form opinion or kowtow to those in power on the left, this would never have become what it has.

The horror!

Just look at that evil, wicked white devil in the video. Obviously a monster turned loose by the white supremacist right wingers and racist gun manufacturers to reign terror on the otherwise peaceful black community!

I blame Obama and the democrats if there are riots.

The whole thing has been manufactured and manipulated. I think they want riots because it energizes Obama's base. The story the media was running was false and inflammatory, and it was not just bad journalism. The media was working an angle creating a diversion from our ****ty economy.

The prosecutor was just carrying the water and doing the bidding of other politicians.

Plus all the people who made threats on-line and with twitter and made defamatory remarks can be subject to a lawsuit. I saw something similar happen to people who made on-line remarks having their butt sued off and losing for a significant sum of money. If I was Zimmerman, I'd be busy suing from here until Kingdom come, let me tell ya, for all this BS. Lawyers, prosecutors, congress people, the GD president, celebrities, every media outlet in the country that salivated out each falsified line of inflammatory hate spew. I'd make a career of it.

If there are riots we'll get to see what kinds of people are doing the rioting and who they victimize.

And it won't be a surprise who it is.

Uh, the Republican national convention is scheduled for Florida late this summer. Someone might think it would be a darned shame if that convention might be held hostage by race riots that only could be calmed by the great messiah Obama himself.

Just thinking the way a nasty pol might.
