Too late Karl, I was never going to vote R or D to begin with.

But will listen on podcast anyway.

"If you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell you, I believe it's in London."

I think I know which bridge you were talking about. It's now in Lake Havasu City on AZ. Been there. Walked across it. Was not there for the bridge.

As Steven Keen has pointed out as just one point in his justifiable ridiculing of the 19th century neo-classical economic theory used by the economic "experts" controlling what our economically ignorant pols hear and their equally ignorant CNBS mouthpieces say, that current economic "science" doesn't even include _private debt_ in its equations. Thus, it's no wonder that the tremendous rise you mention in private debt was effectively invisible to them as it was irrelevant within the ancient garbage of an economic theory they cling to (their PhDs, Nobel Prizes and social status depend upon that).

I have often said that the modeling of economic systems must be nearly as complex as that of weather prediction. Little did I know how insanely simplistic their economic calculations are, simplistic to the point where they could not possibly be even _remotely_ accurate in predicting the performance of an extremely complex system.

So, you want to know how and why these dogmatic PhD idiots lauded as "experts" not only brought us to this point but are now taking us down precisely the wrong path? Simple, their theories and equations are _GARBAGE_. Watch and shake your head in disgust:

Best news of the year is that Krugman's blog is behind the NYTimes paywall. Now if they could get his sorry garbage off that Sunday morning TV show.

Random thoughts:
As to the comment: Real Damage done by George W Bush I agree 1000%!

Of course Obama is doing his best to do more damage than his predecessor (He certainly isn't trying to undo what Bush jr did.)

When will the War on Terror (TM Bush) end? Maybe 40 years after the War on Drugs (TM Nixon) ends? I'm looking for my Whip Inflation Now (TM Ford) button.

I agree that neither party has a plan to solve many issues such as medicare & Social Security. (Even though SS could be solved as you pointed out.)

The common belief is that nothing will be done until after the election. It will of course be interesting to see how the D's and R's F*** us over to try to score points. With any luck the debt ceiling will also be in play by September, along with the "automatic" cuts triggered by the "super committee" impasse.

On the weakness of Iphone sales

Could some of the softness in Iphone sales be related to the speculation of a new Iphone coming out this summer?

I do agree that the fanboi base is getting saturated, but, I would also argue that a reasonable person would hold off on making the purchase if a new release is coming out. [Perhaps, one could argue that fanboi's are not reasonable]

The sales of the Iphone 5 (my name) compared to the Iphone 4S should give some insight into saturation.

Congress persons are all the same, republican or democrat, conservative or liberal. They talk a good game, but the results (or lack thereof) show something different.
