Someone pointed out - for decades now, whites have reacted to this type of thing by MOVING to the suburbs where they can hide from this. Now that impending poverty is making this a lot harder to do, I think it is entirely possible that Civ War II (on racial lines) is a real possibility.

Just cut off the FSA and see how long it takes. I'd say about a week.

I will add - there is another possibility that few are willing to discuss - maybe both Zimmerman and Trayvon were BOTH ****ing idiots and *******s.

That does appear to be the case Kochevnik. Zimmerman was clearly a wannabe cop. That makes him power hunger and eager to abuse power or assert his right to self defense. He was looking for trouble and found it. I don't think racism had anything to do with it. Instead it was a deadly confluence of events and personalities.

Now i really dont think many of the old guard will be in the "Race Battle" (which isnt one, its pretty much young versus old). Yes, both sides are stoking flames and what not - but they will ask for peace and reconliation once the heat gets too hard.

We were very lucky in 1992. With the Internet and rise of the "right" the picture isnt pretty. I have a feeling some of it is a good old distraction...and some of it is culling of the herd. They rather have the old than the young they cannot control and quite honestly dont want to.

There have been some incidnts with one or two white artists (Dimebag Darrell comes to mind from the Thrash Group Panthra) but even though the majority have satanic images... most of the old acts are alive - they died off from drugs and whatnot. The reason why rappers got so popluar was one, a perverted idea of Masculine wants and desires. They promote the man and the idea of his riches, the nice cars, the pretty girls. The rest of the music industry doesnt even register. Its also to create a socitiy that tries to have the things the mainstream will not give them regardless what they do. It also the only "succesful" way out of ones situation ouside of sports (and yes, we have Bounty Gate but i dont want to get into the conversial issues there) - all they have to do today is spend two weeks in a music studio (or converted music studio) and they can make as much as 10X back - get a group around you and you can create buzz.

Yes, they could have learned this at school on how to work with a group and run a business. But with this world is based on image, how can you reach such youth that realizes in some small way there not quite right?

On another note, I think a lot of the white/black thing is based on class, not race. I know as many, if not more, blacks who have moved to escape the, for lack of a better word, "lower classes" of all races as I do whites.

In my experience, nearly everyone, no matter their race, in the middle and upper classes aspires to the same thing - improving their lot in life, raising and educating their children, retiring comfortably, etc. The "lower classes" may have the same aspirations but depend on others or the government to help them or are willing to just take what they can get from the government and not improve at all or work their butts off to escape to the middle and upper classes.

Read about Dr. Ben Carson some time; his mother was a maid and saw all the books at her employer's house and decided it was time for her sons to visit museums, art galleries, libraries, etc., instead of watching tv and goofing off. Did this make him into the world-famous brain surgeon he is today? Perhaps and he'll tell you that it definitely helped.

Read Michael Oher's book, I Beat The Odds. That man went through stuff as a child that no kid should have to go through - a drug-addicted mother who had 12 kids, foster homes, different schools that just kept passing him to the next grade when he was not ready, life on the streets after he ran away from the foster homes, etc. It's different from anything that most of us have experienced in our lives. There's a chapter at the end that should be required reading for every kid age 10 and up about how they should live their lives if they want to succeed. Between this book and some of the stories in The Blind Side (the book, not the movie), you realize what some of the "lower class" kids are going through and how hard it can be to escape that.

Mari, my husband has seen what these kids go through in his 11 years as a public school teacher at some very rough schools (90%+ minority and 100% free/reduced lunch).

One 3rd grader cried b/c he "wants a Daddy" and asked my husband "When am I going to get a Daddy?" How do you answer that? The school set that kid up with a black male mentor, and tragically, the guy NEVER showed up, not even once.

I've seen white kids with methed-out moms, dad in jail, and mom's boyfriend drives the kids to school and then refuses to leave school grounds. A domestic standoff ensues, and the police find the car is filled with drugs, needles, and all kinds of stuff in the backseat, where my 6 year old student and his infant brother just rode to school. Well, along the lines of "you can't fix stupid" that mom took the kid out of school for a full week to go to Mardi Gras! He failed first grade. She said "Well, it's no big deal because I failed first grade myself."

The situation is like quick sand - escaping is not easy and those kids will have to work harder and overcome so much.

We had 48 new students enroll at our local high school in January and HALF of them are classified as homeless.

I'm not making excuses for kids turning into violent thugs, but with (a) NO role models and (b) the "wrong crowd" playing the role that your mother and father should be doing, the odds are not in favor of good grades and trade school/ college. More like dropping out, drugs, pregnancy, and crime/minimum wage.<-- that pretty much sums up my entire county!

I just have to ask another stupid question. Example; When I was 17 I had some latitude. But if I didn't come home or didn't check in for a reasonable time and was expected home, all the hospitals got called, then the police. I was responsible, so the whole checklist only happened twice.

SO, Martin was not at his usual home. He was missing for three days after the incident. Something is wrong with this. Who would let their kid be missing for three days. Apparently he was close to where he was staying, in a gated community.

How could anyone have an incident like this, in their gated community-or near enough to walk, AND have a missing son for three days?

More still, how could he be missing for three days if the girlfriend was on the phone when an altercation started. Even a friend that is not so close would follow up after the termination of that type of call.

If this goes to trial, OJ will have competition as the most popular court case.

I'll distort the facts just like the media. Martin had some free time on his hands, so he went to a neighborhood he knew. HIs parents didn't know he was there. He was casing the houses and cars. Zimmerman noticed him, confronted him. Martin felt caught and attacked Zimmerman,

So this is completely made up, but, it still fits the facts. The way I see it, when the stories start contradicting common sense, you can't be sure any of the differing stories are true.

Yup, the fact is the evidence that is out there now says that there is no reason to charge him. They put him in custody but then had to let him go.
