First, I'm in agreement with Ron Paul that ALL "foreign aid" spending needs to stop immediately, to include both Israel and surrounding muslim countries. Further, the united States needs to butt out of Israel's business. Don't help them, but stop hindering them. Treat them as, oh, I don't know, a soverign nation in accordance with our Constitution.

The UN created the first modern Israeli state out of land then held by the British. The Israelis were not permitted weapons of any sort (though they wisely and secretly built up as many small arms stockpiles as they could), and the day the British protectorate left the Israelis alone and legally defenseless, there were no less than five enemy nations with their armies attacking the Israelis. Five armies against revolvers and molotov cocktails, and the attackers had to call it quits ten months later to lick their wounds. Yeah, no one was out to get the Jews.

Just on those facts alone, I'm fairly certain the UN was just trying to finish up the loose ends of the Holocaust.

(The study of modern Israeli wars should be ironclad proof of Jehova God's existence to anyone with interest to look and two brain cells to rub together - such battles put ALL the great wars of past history to shame.)

The Brigade began training in August 1948 at four bases in Czechoslovakia.

Czech assistance to Israel’s military strength comprised a) small arms, b) 84 airplanes - the outdated Czech built Avia S.199s, Spitfires and Messerschmidts that played a major role in the demoralization of enemy troops; c) military training and technical maintenance. On January 7, 1949, the Israeli air-force, consisting of several Spitfires and Czech built Messerschmidt Bf-109 fighters (transferred secretly from Czech bases to Israel), shot down five British-piloted Spitfires flying for the Egyptian air-force over the Sinai desert causing a major diplomatic embarrassment for the British government. According to British reports, based on informants within the Czech Government, the total Czech dollar income from export of arms and military services to the Middle East in 1948 was over $28 million, and Israel received 85% of this amount. As late as 1951, Czech Spitfires continued to arrive in Israel by ship from the Polish port of Gydiniya-Gdansk (Danzig). Since May, 2005 the Military Museum in Prague has displayed a special exhibition on the Czech aid to Israel in 1948."

Agau, that article snippet contains nothing to contradict what I said. It claims small arms were imported in 1948. That's what I said, even considering I said "revolvers" instead of "small arms". I'm sure the Israelis had other arms sources, but you consider 30,000 rifles a fair counter to against five nations' armies? Ludicrous.

Agau: Israelis are jerks. They are criminals who broke British law by scrounging up supplies and weapons when they weren't supposed to. When the surrounding nations' armies were poised to attack the day the British protectorate left, they didn't go off to jump into the sea and die like they were supposed to. Therefore, they are bad meanie-faces and should just all go away somewhere but not where they are now.

Fine, you keep your opinions. I don't care so long as our own criminals stop throwing bales of my money at both parties over there and keep their busybody noses out of both parties' business. If I want to buy the Israelis another house-smash tank, I'll write my own check. I fully expect you use your own money to do the same for more rockets for muslim fundamentalists to shoot at Israeli cities.
