Good on Coburn, but we may have more than 2 years (say 3).

I think we all saw this before when he presented his budget cutting plan on the Senate floor. But it is a good reminder that there are a few who get it and will talk about it. Too bad there are so few.

Oldno. They ALL get it. They know what we are facing, but they also know that we face civil disorder and political turmoil if we go down the path of cutting back. Not to mention that voter anger will be extreme. They know, they just choose not to deal with it.

I think it's time for a Ross Perot to finance a Tom Coburn third party run. It's time for the people to make the choice, and if they don't choose wisely it's their own damn fault. But someone needs to step forward on a national level and make this point. Coburn and Kent Conrad as the ticket. I think they'd win if they didn't get hot-tubbed.

I guess this should make me feel better that some-one at least somewhat gets it and is speaking out.

It doesn't.

Themortgagedude, I suppose you are right, and maybe it would matter.
Certainly no candidate is really addressing this issue, and that blows my ****ing mind!
(ok, RP addresses the issue, just not very well).

Buddy Roemer knocked on the CNN/MSNBC/Fox News door and said "I'd like to run a candidacy based on confronting painful realities!" Someone cracked the door a tiny bit and said "Leave us your information and we'll get back to you." It would be the same for Tom Coburn, or any candidate who dared to stray from the "When growth resumes, as it certainly must" narrative.

Fraud

You are right of course and as I have said before we have two choices:

1 Address the problem now and have civil unrest.

2 Kick the can down the road and have civil unrest when the bond market forces change.

Funding the 9/11 memorial? Let NYC fund the damn thing. That is where the money ends up anyhow.

I have seen Coburn on TV quite often. That interview wasn't unique. There are a lot of religious organizations in OK. Maybe they have a guy that follows the creed.

But we can't just give up for such reasons Smacktle. I never heard of him but listened to it all. Karl cared and posted it ; we can spread it.
If we do nothing, then it's certain nothing will change. If we do something, then maybe nothing will change- but maybe it will.
I tune out almost every mainstream politi-Con. I don't give an ounce of dirt for what Newt or Romney or Santorum or Perry or Palin or Obama or Hillary or Pelosi or Reid or Boehner say. They are lying sacks of manure. This guy Coburn I sense is genuine, same as Collin Fretts KD posted the other day.

Since it costs a lot to win, and even more to lose, You and me bound to spend some time wonder'n what to choose. Goes to show, you don't ever know, watch each card you play and play it slow...Wait until that deal come round, don't you let that deal go down, no no. Garcia/Hunter.

I'd just like to see him run. At least we'd have an interesting discussion about debts and deficits. I could see him polling 18 or 20% immediately with the smiley collection we have in the mix now.

"We have all of the capabilities to solve every problem we have and we have none of the leadership in our key offices in this country to do this."

No, that's because the "leadership" resides in the organizations who actually OWN the "leadership" in our key offices and they want the status quo to continue for as long as possible even if that means catastrophe (for everyone but them, of course). Sounds like a systemic flaw in our political process to me.

The USA already is insolvent, it just hasn't run out of money (yet) to continue the debt Ponzi. However, if the Treasury yield curve inverts anytime soon, we're toast.

I find it quite ironic that the "done deal" for Greece earlier this week was made by the big bankers and the big politicians. Hello?? What about the investors in the sovereign credits who are expected to retroactively be volunteered to amend the transaction/s, the taxpayers who are paying for all this...

(In other words, most of those parties who are "on the hook" havn't agreed to anything yet.)
