Is Someone Skeered That Obama Wasn't Blowing Smoke?

One has to wonder, considering this...

That's quite a nice little drop, considering that the broad market is only off a quarter of a percent and the DOW is actually up a few points.

There are, however, two factors that are quite bad for banks:

  • Bernanke's speech yesterday -- adding 18 months to ZIRP is going to trash net interest margins on a dollar basis, which of course is what matters when it comes to earnings (not percentages, dollars.)  That's not going to be good.

  • Obama made noises that sounded like he was going to "stop the looting" at least, and he might "start the prosecuting."  It has been my contention that the first would be trivial to do if anyone cared, and that there are plenty of handcuffs to use in the latter case as well should the government decide to give a damn.

This, of course, is not good for the stock market.  But I want everyone to remember why it's a problem, not just that it's a problem.

The problem is here.  If the banksters and government cannot find a way to run another geometric debt scam then the entire ponzi scheme that has held up asset prices for the last 30 years will collapse.

Not "might collapse", or "could collapse."

Will collapse.

Someone smells something, and the stench appears to be originating in Europe -- but do not be fooled into believing that it will remain there, because it will not.

It's coming here.

Watch what they do, not what they say. How can anyone believe anything Obama, or any politician for that matter, promises. Their track record says otherwise.

Have yet to see someone use a can of Raid (prosecution) on the roaches (Banksters) yet. I'll believe it when I see it.

Speaking of roaches, Corzine has been laying low.

Obama has a great track record of -correctly- bashing cockroach bankers. Only to then turn around and "service" them.

Spot-on. When I see Corzine in leg-irons I'll start to believe this is something other than perhaps a politically-themed show (going after Gibson, anyone?) to try to make it look for the Sheeple like OstumbleAndFall is "doing something".

Gen, the new debt to GPD bar chart is a huge improvement over the line chart you have been using - so much easier to grasp your point.

I'm counting on it Karl. But, I think the Dow made a new interday high, though I am not sure. Could it be Bernanke and the ECB have pushed so many chips to the banks that it has broken the charts? I contend that it is the banks buying everything and attempting to get their pound of flesh in that manner.

The amazing thing is how they mark their winners to market and their losers to fantasy. I have read they are claiming a profit on the poor quality of their own debt. The new news out there is the ECB has made all this debt in Europe junior to their debt. This is what they are talking about now, but the news has been out there for a long time now. The ECB expects the private lenders to take the losses while they seem to be intent on marking the discounted debt they bougbt to market. Maybe it will get out to the bankers themselves what a crooked enterprise Central Banking and the IMF are. You can be sure the bankers in the know got 70 cents on the dollar for their debt.

Obama is still pandering to Wall street. His home refiance scam again will buy him votes with our tax dollars. I doubt very much that this clown will prosecute anyone that slips his campaign some cash. Chicago politics has always been about money.

IF I were Obama and IF I were feeling spitefull and IF I believed I may not make the ballot in certain states, I would get about some creative destruction simply out of spite. IF I could put away my spite I would be looking to cut some major deals before I got out. Interesting times.

You don't seriously believe there's one chance in a gazillion that Obama would either stop the looting or start prosecuting, do you?

He wants taxpayers on the hook for new upside-down FHA loans that will be used to refinance upside-down "non-agency" mortgages. That's not stopping the looting, that's shifting it into overdrive.

As for prosecuting - when I see Corzine in handcuffs I'll think that maybe they're at least feigning seriousness.

Maybe because I live in Texas. I don't know.

Please. Obama won't prosecute his friends.

Look at what he's doing right now :

Quote:
Obama Is on the Brink of a Settlement With the Big Banks—and Progressives Are Furious

For months, a massive federal settlement with big Wall Street banks over their role in the mortgage crisis has been in the offing. The rumored details have always given progressives heartburn: civil immunity, no investigations, inadequate help for homeowners and a small penalty for the banks.

Smacktle, I am seeing the same in Houston. Pick any Friday or Saturday night the restaurants have 45 min wait or more. Patrons have no clue of the financial world.

Reminds me of the quote "Nobody Goes There Anymore, It’s Too Crowded".
