I don't think it can ever be fixed. America was founded on that puritan protestant ethic of 'going without', deferred gratification and the like.

Our culture today is based around indulging your base animal instincts as much as you can, as soon as you can. It's not only now acceptable, but expected and even encouraged.

I mean look at all the obese, the indebted and the addicted. That kind of thing just wouldn't fly back in the day. They would be in stockades or prison or ostracized from society.

"I mean look at all the obese, the indebted and the addicted"

You have it backwards as the system built from the bribery of the 2parties requires the above for their "profits".

From the b.s. food pyramid to the endless "miracle cures" on the idiot tube all are enabled by and pay tribute to the 2party scum.

Yet, many will invest and seek profit from the very same drug pushers and then complain at the damage arising from those profits.

When I see the investment snapping shut then I will think we are getting serious.

What I mean is people have been conditioned to think it's ok to do that stuff, to live like an animal in a permanent masturbatory state of indulgance and instant gratification. Stuffing your face with food/drugs/porn, pumping your ego with credit bought cars/mcmansions/clothes/iphones/etc.

It's OK that you stuff your face everyday and weight 300 lbs - it's HFCS's fault. It's OK your a meth addict - it's society's fault. It's OK your up to your eyeballs in debt - it's the bankers fault.

The thing that has been removed is good old fashioned puritan guilt. That would be the only way to turn it around. They used white guilt for civil rights and they use guilt for global warming. What we have now is the opposite, an entitlement attitude and a total lack of self-responsibility. Gluttony and sloth used to be deadly sins.

There needs to be a switch over to where people feel guilty and ashamed about living like a pig wallowing in their own debt-consumer **** puddle, instead of proud. I think there are some glimmers of that coming through in the general public, like the popularity of Dave Ramsey for example.

So did greed pride and wrath.

Anyone that invests for profit off the above obviously condones the actions.

One can't get around it, you encourage the very actions you moan about others taking.

sorry, nice try.

P.S. most are not proud , they are trying survive and don't know any better and that is by design.
P.S. ramsey is a twerp.

Dave Ramsey tells people to invest in the stock market and get 8% returns. Follow him at your own peril.
